Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Stingy God of Another World

Another World — Granbahamal.

Minami Yojuro, who should have been swallowed by the Kōtotsu within the Dangai, was instead pulled away at the very last moment. The so-called Dimensional Traversal System finally completed its loading and activated.

But in the instant it did, Yojuro's body was smashed apart into fragments by the Kōtotsu.

Since a shinigami's body was composed of reishi, part of that reishi descended into this so-called other world—Granbahamal.

Because Yojuro was originally a shinigami, his form wasn't simply transferred or reincarnated. Instead, his bones and flesh were reconstructed within this world, reshaped as a native inhabitant.

"I am the god of this other world. As one transferred here, I may grant you a single ability as a cheat to help you survive in this harsh world."

The first voice Yojuro heard after arriving wasn't from the system—it was this so-called "god of another world."

Though Yojuro didn't understand why the "god" spoke in a understandable language, the fact that he could comprehend it was good enough.

And since refusing a free cheat would just be plain stupid, Yojuro had no intention of turning it down. He spoke his desire bluntly:

"I want the greatest power in this world! The overwhelming strength to defeat anyone I encounter, no matter who they are!"

Asking him what cheat he wanted? Wasn't that the same as granting a wish? In that case, why hold back?

The God of Another World: "…"

After hearing Yojuro's demand, the so-called god clearly froze. From their exchange so far, it was obvious this "god" was something like a guide system. And Yojuro's wish had far exceeded its permissions.

Power to become invincible? Then where would that leave this world's gods, demon lords, or dragon kings?

Sure, cheats were cheats—but too much power would shatter the world's balance.

Realizing he had gone overboard, Yojuro dialed back his request:

"Since this is a fantasy world of swords and magic, there should be mana and spellcasters here, right?

Then I want vast magical power, and a body immune to magic. That shouldn't be too much to ask, right?"

The god nearly choked. If it weren't merely a beginner's guide entity, it would've smacked Yojuro across the face right then and there.

This human was far too greedy!

"What you've asked for counts as two separate abilities: immense magical power, and magic immunity. I can only grant you one."

Faced with the stingy god, Yojuro hesitated for a moment, then finally chose Magic Immunity.

It was a decision made after some thought. Having vast mana didn't guarantee talent in magic—just like owning a sports car was useless if you didn't know how to drive.

But Magic Immunity was different. With that ability, he would effectively become the natural nemesis of all mages in this world.

As for magic, according to the low-tier system that transferred with him, his own spiritual pressure seemed to automatically convert into this world's power system.

Even taking a step back, even if his so-called magic aptitude was nonexistent, with his swordsmanship alone—plus the newly acquired ability Magic Immunity—he might not be able to sweep through the world, but at the very least he would have the strength to protect himself.

After granting Yojuro this cheat ability to ensure survival in this world, the so-called "God of Another World" promptly vanished.

Yojuro, who had originally wanted to ask a few more questions about this world, was left speechless. For a supposed guide of a transmigrator, this "God" was ridiculously irresponsible.

The place where Yojuro now stood seemed to be a forest. About this world, he knew absolutely nothing.

The system he carried only seemed to possess the ability to traverse dimensions. But during activation, his body had been struck by a distortion…

This directly caused his spirit particles to scatter across multiple worlds, and he simply landed in this world with the portion of those particles.

There was no helping it—newly arrived in an unfamiliar world, the first thing he needed was basic information. To achieve that, he had to make contact with intelligent beings, at the very least.

But after wandering the forest for two full days, while he had slaughtered numerous magical beasts, he had yet to encounter a single human—nor even a creature that could be considered intelligent.

"Even without a map, I refuse to believe that if I just keep moving in a straight line, I can't get out of this forest!"

In truth, the forest wasn't particularly large. The only reason Yojuro hadn't made it out after two days was entirely due to his mild sense of directionlessness.

It was well known that swordsmen often shared this peculiar flaw. Though Yojuro wasn't as hopeless as a certain three-sword style swordsman who would endlessly circle about, his sense of direction was undeniably poor.

"You're robbing me? I can give you money, just please let me go!"

"What's this half-orc saying? He even pulled out a few pieces of paper to try to fool us?"

"Since when did half-orcs get so clever? This one can even beg for his life? Maybe he's a rare breed."

"If we drag this guy back to the guild, we should be able to sell him for a good price."

After two days of wandering aimlessly through the forest, Yojuro was ecstatic to finally hear human voices.

He stealthily crept toward the sound and found several men locked in a confrontation.

Or rather, it wasn't a confrontation at all—it was a one-sided beating. Three men, dressed like adventurers, were thrashing another man who looked "human."

The victim, shielding his head with both arms and sticking out his backside, pleaded desperately for mercy, insisting he was human. But the adventurers didn't believe him for a second.

In a world populated mostly by handsome men and beautiful women, his appearance wasn't just plain—it was downright odd.

So even though Yosuke Shibazaki could talk, they simply assumed he was a rare talking half-orc, and were preparing to capture him and haul him back to the city for a hefty profit.

Half-orcs as a subspecies weren't especially rare in this world—but a half-orc who could speak was another matter. Such an oddity would fetch an excellent price.
