Chapter 20 - Chapter Twenty: The Bond That Never Broke

The Africa Youth Cup had become more than a tournament — it was a story the whole world was watching.Everywhere you looked, fans waved Nigerian flags and wore shirts that read:

"The Zangola Brothers — Khali & Bello."

After every match, their chemistry amazed everyone.Khali's vision. Bello's finishing. It was like the universe had designed them to complete each other's game.

The semifinals were next — Nigeria vs. Senegal. The scouts were out in full force. European agents filled the VIP stands, notebooks ready, eyes sharp.

One offer could change a life.

The Temptation

After training that evening, a man in a navy suit approached Khali and Bello outside their hotel.

"Gentlemen," he said with a slick British accent. "I'm Richard Stone — European recruitment scout for City Group."

Bello raised an eyebrow. "Manchester City?"

"Partly," Stone said, smiling. "But we represent several clubs — including Girona, Troyes, and Palermo. We're offering trials to a few elite players after the tournament."

He handed them two envelopes."Khali Ibrahim and Bello Yusuf — your names are already on the list."

Bello opened his slowly. "So… both of us?"

Stone nodded. "Together. The chemistry between you two is rare. Clubs are watching both of you."

Khali and Bello looked at each other — grins spreading.

For the first time in a long while, there was no rivalry. Just joy.

The Battle with Senegal

The semifinal against Senegal was brutal.Hot, physical, fast — every tackle like thunder.

In the 60th minute, Nigeria trailed 1–0. The pressure was suffocating.

Coach Ibrahim shouted from the sidelines, "Khali! Bello! Wake the team up!"

That was all they needed to hear.

Khali picked up the ball deep in midfield, weaving past two defenders. He spotted Bello making a run and sent a perfect through ball slicing between Senegal's back line.

Bello didn't even look — he knew where the ball would be. One touch, then a powerful shot.Goal! 1–1.

Minutes later, a long cross came flying into the box. Bello rose high but instead of heading it, he nodded it sideways — straight to Khali.Khali volleyed it home.2–1. Nigeria wins.

The crowd went wild. Two boys from a dusty street in Zangola had carried their nation into the final.

Dreams Becoming Real

That night, the team hotel buzzed with celebration.Amira watched from the lobby as Khali and Bello laughed, teased each other, and posed for photos.

When she finally approached them, Bello smiled. "You see, Amira? You'll need a new headline now."

She grinned. "Already have one: 'Zangola Brothers Lead Nigeria to Glory.'"

Khali chuckled. "Sounds perfect."

Then Amira added softly, "And after the final… maybe 'Zangola Brothers Go to Europe.'"

Khali and Bello exchanged a look. Both knew she might be right.

The Final

The final was Nigeria vs. Egypt — a showdown everyone had waited for.

Khali stood in the tunnel, hand over his heart, listening to the national anthem echo through the stadium. He glanced at Bello.

Bello smirked. "Let's finish this, brother."

"Together," Khali said.

The whistle blew — and from the first touch, they played like men possessed.

In the 35th minute, Bello scored after a dazzling assist from Khali. In the 75th minute, Khali scored again after a clever one-two with Bello.

When the referee finally blew the final whistle, it was over — Nigeria 2, Egypt 0.Champions.

The team lifted the trophy high, green and white confetti raining down.

Amira stood near the pitch, tears in her eyes, watching as Khali and Bello held the trophy together — one hand each, the Nigerian flag draped around their shoulders.

A New Journey

A week later, both received their official letters.Manchester City confirmed their partnership with Manchester United to co-develop international youth talent — and both Khali and Bello were selected to join the Elite Training Exchange Program.

It meant one thing:They were going to Europe together.

At the airport, as cameras flashed, Bello grinned. "Who would've thought? From Zangola to Manchester — two sides, one dream."

Khali smiled back. "And one brotherhood that'll never break."

Amira hugged them both. "Go make the world see what Nigeria can do."

They promised to return — not as rivals, but as legends from the same street.

As their plane lifted into the sky, the sun rose over Abuja — golden and bright — just like their future.
