Chapter 18 - Where it all began, and where it shall end. (2).

The entire area was consumed by a divine wind, one wielded by a warrior, although he had retired. Ian was powerful, powerful enough that he could destroy the illusion that had been cast throughout the area.

"Ahh!"

"What's happening?"

The villagers screamed in terror, as the wind obscured their vision, however, the wind didn't hurt them at all. It was only focused on destroying the illusion that had been cast. Ian was a former member of the Beastly Aris, the Divine Warriors of the Beast God, therefore his control of mana was good.

In the continent of Vakuma, he would be at the level of a Knight, far above any average person, and that was before using his Divine Blood.

"Listen, all of you."

The wind subsided, and the villagers who had thought they had a moment of respite fell down, struck with the power in his voice.

"All of you are to return to the village, find Ravu on the way and that young brat and run, Tell Igimo it that the threat is demonic, He'll know what to do."

"But sir, we can he-"

One of the stronger willed villager youth resisted his orders, it wasn't out of malice, rather the opposite, he truly wanted to help.

"No."

But he turned down in an instant, and when the villagers noticed Ian's body beginning to change, they held their heads down in shame and retreated.

Ian stopped his transformation as he saw the villagers retreat, left alone in the forest, he took a deep breath.

'Divine blood is the last resort, I shouldn't transform so readily.'

Ian's nose smelled something approach, as a Wolfman, his sense of smell was extremely potent, and in most situations, this was a powerful ability. However, when the stench was this horrible, it really wasn't.

A beast the size of a house appeared in front of Ian, at a distance of a few dozen meters, fur as black as the night covered in innumerable amount of horns, a hood covered its face, but it was clear it was a wolf of some sorts. The thin but powerful legs accompanied by the powerful upper body, as well as the sharp teeth.

Ian would have felt a sort of kinship with the beast if it wasn't for the stench...

"Foul demon..."

His veins almost burst and his body turned red, not from the cold, but rather from rage. The steel handle of his halberd deformed from his grip.

"You dare?"

He stepped forward, a furious wind accompanied his every move, the earth crumbled and a faint hint of green energy surrounded him. His mana was running wild.

A being that appeared to be a demon had tainted the sacred land, and as a warrior of his god, should he not kill this threat?

The beast growled, its massive body let out a roar that shook the entire area, its large claws could rip a man in half like he was tofu, and the weight of its body would topple any wall with a charge.

The beast ran at him, it's maw wide open, intending to devour Ian at that very instant, its speed was insane for its size. A beast that big should not be able to move at such speed, but it was doing it right here, at this very moment.

With no utilization of mana as well.

"YOU DARE?!"

Ian roared, and faced the threat with his bare hands, he threw the halberd away as he partially lost himself in his rage. The wind surrounded him in the form of a thick green energy and Ian, too, rushed at the beast.

"I'LL RIP YOU IN HALF!"

He grabbed the upper jaw with his right hand, and the lower jaw with his left. The sharp teeth dug into his skin, but he did not care, even as his body was pushed back dozens of meters...

He simply stayed true to his word.

"ARGH!"

He ripped the beast in half.

----

'What is that sound?'

Ethan wondered, as he closed in on his target. It was the howl of a wolf, accompanied by what appeared to be a hurricane.

It was strange, it was the only sound he had heard besides his own after passing the clearing.

'Is a natural disaster occurring or something?'

He wondered, but didn't dwell on it for long, he kept advancing. The trail was getting... thicker, he was nearing his destination.

The Huntress was close, and he had to say, her aesthetic choice was quite... unique.

The forest changed as he went further, it alternated between two forms.

A patch of dead, and a patch of life. One area was covered with blooming life, and the one before it was dead... This cycle continued to repeat.

Whatever she had done to the forest, Ethan found it strange. He didn't notice any traces of a spell or anything of the sort.

It was just dead nature, followed by thriving nature, again and again. There was no such trick to it at all.

His senses were raised to the extreme, he was expending a lot of his Ki to keep it that way, both defending his mind from any hex, and heightening his senses to notice any change.

If there was a spell, then it surpassed him by many levels... But it simply couldn't be, because if the Huntress was capable of casting such magic, he wouldn't have won before.

After passing through multiple patches of death and life, Ethan finally noticed something.

"You..."

A wolf whose face was covered with a black cloth, with a body overtaken by horns. Ethan let his Ki be absorbed by his sword, and focused on the wolf, along with the entire area around it.

'Not here, she's not here.'

It was only that wolf, and if that was the case, this would be easy. The beast was not a good defender.

Ethan took a deep breath, as he rushed towards the wolf, which prepared for his attack by baring its fangs.

Ethan smirked, as his speed increased in an instant, and when the time was right... all he had to do was swing his sword.

The beast was left alone in the wilderness, and Ethan was nowhere to be seen.

However, the beast was no longer in one piece. The two halves of it's body dropped lifelessly to the ground.
