Chapter 89 - Chapter 88: His Summoned Beast Rebelled!

The moment the Wind-Riding Skyhawk appeared, the faces of Mu Tingying and her teammates stiffened.

They had barely managed to block Song Jie's earlier barrage—now another Warrior-level beast had joined the battle!

"Shangguan Hong, can your summoned beast even handle that thing?" Mu Tingying asked coldly.

Shangguan Hong gritted his teeth and glared upward. "Thunder Python! Bring it down!"

Song Jie didn't even flinch. A faint smirk played on his lips.

"Let him understand," he said softly, "what nemesis truly means."

The Wind-Riding Skyhawk screeched in response, folding its wings and diving like a silver spear through the clouds!

Bolts of lightning exploded across the sky as the Thunder Python countered, forming a net of electric arcs that filled the entire arena.

But the Skyhawk's speed was monstrous—it weaved through the lightning with ease, wings slicing through the air with sharp gusts of wind.

"Defend!" Shangguan Hong shouted.

The Thunder Python's scales flashed, its entire body wrapped in a shimmering barrier of lightning energy—its ultimate defensive stance.

Anyone who dared approach would face a devastating electric explosion.

Song Jie chuckled. "Trying to turtle up, huh? Then let's try something else."

He waved his hand, and a small black shadow appeared beside him—a cat no larger than a palm.

The spectators blinked in disbelief.

"What's that? A cat?"

"Is that another of his summoned beasts?"

"He's… sending it straight at the Thunder Python?!"

Even Mu Tingying was taken aback. "That's definitely not an ordinary creature! Shangguan Hong, don't let it near your beast!"

But Shangguan Hong ignored her, too focused on maintaining control of his summoned beast.

The little black cat dashed forward like a streak of shadow, darting across the ground with incredible agility.

Instead of attacking the Thunder Python's body—it headed straight for its shadow.

Then, with a swift turn, it dove directly into the shadow and vanished!

"What the—!? It went into the Thunder Python's shadow!"

"How did it do that?!"

"Is this some kind of illusion magic?"

No one could answer.

Shangguan Hong frowned, a trace of unease creeping into his expression. "Thunder Python, force it out!"

But before the beast could react—its lightning barrier suddenly dimmed.

Then, its glowing eyes flickered… turning eerily dull.

Shangguan Hong froze. "Thunder Python?"

The beast's massive head slowly turned—

and without warning, it unleashed a bolt of lightning directly at Shangguan Hong himself!

"Light Blessing!"

"Holy Shield!!"

Liang Shujun barely managed to cast defensive magic in time. Blinding light flashed as the shield barely withstood the Thunder Python's furious blast.

"Shangguan Hong! What's your beast doing!?" Mu Tingying shouted angrily.

Shangguan Hong panicked, shouting hoarsely, "Thunder Python! Stop!!"

But the beast didn't respond. It roared again—and another surge of lightning burst toward them!

Only then did Shangguan Hong understand. His beast wasn't disobeying—it was no longer his to command.

Song Jie smiled faintly. "How does it feel… being attacked by your own summoned beast?"

Shangguan Hong's face turned pale. His mind went blank.

The spectators erupted in shock.

"That cat—it controlled the Thunder Python!"

"Impossible! Even a powerful servant-level beast shouldn't be able to control a Warrior-level creature!"

"Unless… that cat is also a Warrior-level beast!"

The entire arena fell into uproar.

Two Warrior-level summoned beasts—belonging to the same summoner!

Shangguan Hong's voice trembled. "You… you're telling me that cat is Warrior-level too?!"

Song Jie said nothing, only continued his mental command.

The Thunder Python, now his puppet, turned its fangs toward the Imperial Capital team once more!

"Two Warrior-level beasts… this is ridiculous," Shangguan Hong muttered, stumbling backward in disbelief.

But Li Feng suddenly gritted his teeth. "Now's not the time to despair! Give me an opening—I'll end him myself!"

Mu Tingying snapped, "Fine! You better make it count. Eliminate that summoner, and we'll win this!"

"Let's move!"

Together, they desperately resisted the Thunder Python's rampage, struggling to create a gap.

Li Feng's eyes glowed as purple lightning danced around him. His star particles rapidly linked together, forming a brilliant Star Map beneath his feet.

"Thunderbolt—Yaksha!!"

A violet hexagram erupted with power as he unleashed his strongest spell, a searing arc of lightning splitting the air.

The thunderclap that followed shook the entire arena.

The blast shot straight toward Song Jie, who stood calmly amid the storm.

Five forked lightning chains branched from the main bolt, like grasping claws reaching out to tear him apart—

The sky itself seemed to roar as the lightning came crashing down!
