The seven Dragons that had emerged from the Eclipse Gate all took to the sky.
High above the Royal Capital, the Purgatory, Mountain Dragon, Cloud Dragon, Chemtech Dragon, and Hextech Dragon each found an opponent and clashed in midair.
Dragon roars shook the heavens.
The thunderous sound of massive bodies colliding echoed again and again, and every violent impact sent fierce gusts of wind crashing down onto the people below.
At that moment, the Purgatory Dragon and the Dragon wreathed entirely in flames exchanged breath attacks high in the sky.
From the ground, it looked as though two crimson beams erupted simultaneously from the mouths of the blazing red Dragons. When the beams collided, they detonated violently.
For an instant, a miniature sun bloomed in the night sky.
The blinding light and scorching heat forced soldiers and knights alike to raise their arms, shielding their faces.
"Natsu!" Happy's voice rang out nearby.
"What happened?! We heard a huge noise outside, what's going on?!"
Carla and Panther Lily arrived just behind him.
Carla stared skyward, her eyes wide.
"This… this is exactly what I saw with my prediction magic."
Lily rested a hand on the weapon at his back.
"Thirteen Dragons," he said gravely. "But it seems that roughly half of them are allies."
"Perfect timing!" Gajeel shouted excitedly. "I want in too! Lily, take me up there!"
Lily hesitated and looked toward Rhodes.
Before they had arrived, the Master had given clear instructions: assess the situation first, and once Rhodes was present, follow his orders.
"All right," Rhodes said decisively.
"Laxus, Natsu, Gajeel, you three go deal with that green one. The one that looks… familiar."
He continued calmly, issuing commands one by one.
"Carla, assist Laxus. Wendy will handle support, she and the Ocean Dragon will stay behind to protect Lucy."
Carla flew toward Laxus but still asked, "What about reporting back to the guild?"
"It's fine," Rhodes replied. "I'll notify them another way."
Carla nodded. "Understood."
Lily gave a short bow. "Acknowledged."
Happy pumped his fist. "Aye!"
Natsu and Gajeel were already itching to move, urging Happy and Lily to take off immediately.
Since Laxus and Carla weren't fully synchronized yet, Laxus made a short test flight first before accelerating to catch up with the other two pairs.
Meanwhile, Rhodes pressed his fingers against the Fairy Tail insignia on his arm and began reciting an incantation, somewhat awkwardly.
The blue guild mark glowed.
From it, dozens of thin, illusory lines extended outward, lines that only Rhodes could see.
The ends closest to him remained blue, while the distant ends shimmered in different colors. Some stretched all the way to the edge of his vision; others connected directly to Wendy, Lucy, and the rest.
If one looked closely, the color at the far end of each line corresponded exactly to the color of the guild insignia on the person it was linked to.
Rhodes infused one of the lines with magic.
The message formed clearly in his mind.
At the same moment, Makarov, stationed in the Royal Capital's central square, heard Rhodes's voice echo directly in his ear:
"Seven enemy Dragons. Within projected response limits, no deviation from the plan. Dragons Treasure failed to ambush Lucy. Stay alert."
Makarov paused for half a second, then immediately issued orders.
"Erza, Cana, Gray, Juvia, and the Thunder God Tribe," he commanded, "assist the King's Army and deal with Dragons Treasure. Bisca and Alzack will provide covering fire."
"Dragons Treasure?" Erza asked sharply. "Why?"
Makarov quickly explained.
Their expressions hardened at once. Without another word, the group turned and rushed off.
"When did you learn Telepathy Magic?" Makarov asked casually.
There was no reply.
The connection had already been severed.
In truth, Rhodes was not using Telepathy.
This technique was a modified form of Precht's Demon's Eye.
One of Demon's Eye's original functions was to connect the field of vision, and awareness, of every guild member through the Grimoire Heart insignia, allowing Precht to issue commands instantly across the battlefield.
When Rhodes first saw that spell in the book Precht had given him, he had been deeply envious.
It was far too useful, perfect for battlefield command, coordination, and emergency communication.
However, gouging out his own eyes to cultivate a true Demon's Eye was obviously not an option.
So instead, he tried to reconstruct and refine the concept.
The difficulty had been immense.
Even after questioning Precht extensively during their meeting before the Grand Magic Games, Rhodes had only managed to make limited progress.
The ideal form of this magic would be ultra-long-distance, unobstructed communication through the guild insignia, allowing video calls without magic crystal communicators, and even enabling the direct transmission of both parties' vision.
If it ever reached that stage, it could be named something like "Fairy's Eye," modeled after Demon's Eye.
Unfortunately, it was still only a prototype.
When Rhodes tried to teach it to Mira, she simply couldn't grasp it at all.
Perhaps the structure still needed further simplification.
During the brief moment Rhodes spent sending the message, the three Dragon Slayers had already engaged the Jade Dragon.
Carried by the three Exceeds, they relied on their small size and the speed-boosting magic Wendy had applied to maneuver nimbly around their opponent.
Each of them launched a few probing attacks.
The effect was similar to their usual sparring sessions with Dragons.Although Zirconis, the Jade Dragon, clearly felt pain and cursed loudly when struck, the attacks still failed to cause any truly serious injuries.
"All-Attribute Enhancement, Deus Eques!"
Wendy seized the opening and cast the enchantment from afar, layering it over all three of them.
The three Dragon Slayers flew into position above the Jade Dragon, cheeks puffed as they inhaled deeply.
"Fire Dragon's..."
"Iron Dragon's..."
"Lightning Dragon's..."
"ROAR!" ×3
Red, black, and yellow breath attacks erupted simultaneously, twisting and intertwining as they descended.
A faint blue glow flickered through the blast, the Sky Magic attribute Wendy had woven into the attack.
This unique four-attribute combined roar slammed directly into the Jade Dragon's back.
A dull impact echoed through the sky, followed instantly by a violent explosion.
"Awooo!"
Zirconis let out a pained roar as his massive midsection suddenly caved inward, his body bending like a drawn bow.
His wings stalled for an instant.
The Jade Dragon dropped uncontrollably for more than ten meters before barely managing to stabilize himself in midair.
"Damn you humans! And those idiotic coexistence advocates!" Zirconis roared furiously.
He snapped his head upward and spat out a jade-green Dragon Breath toward the three figures above him.
This was a true Dragon Breath.
Compared to it, the Dragon Slayers' breath attacks were like trickling streams against a raging river.
The sheer scale of the attack was so vast that even Happy, normally the fastest, couldn't carry Natsu clear in time.
When the blinding green light finally faded, the three Dragon Slayers and their Exceeds had been blown back dozens of meters.
Yet aside from torn clothing and ragged breathing, none of them suffered serious injuries.
A magic circle flared beneath Wendy's feet.
"Deus Corona! …And Alma!"
At the same time, a Void MBrambleback manifested near the Ocean Dragon's feet.
Streams of crimson light and pale violet light wrapped around the three Dragon Slayers.
They were buffs from the Red buff and the Crown of shattered Queen, generously provided by Rhodes.
Seeing the layers of enhancement stack so perfectly, Rhodes felt a rare sense of reassurance.
With this many buffs active, the three of them might genuinely succeed in slaying a Dragon today.
Satisfied, Rhodes turned his attention to his own opponent.
The Dragon he had left for himself was the largest one, the first to emerge from the Eclipse Gate.
Blue-white Dragon Wings burst forth from Rhodes's back.
His hands transformed into Cloud Dragon Claws.
With a thunderous crack of displaced air, he shot into the sky at terrifying speed.
His fist smashed into the Dragon's neck.
BANG.
