It was a summer afternoon, the sky bright blue with soft clouds drifting lazily by.
On Hokage Rock, a teenager in casual clothes lounged on the carved head of the First Hokage.
A branch hung from his lips as he stared up at the sun, looking utterly content.
Even with the blazing sunlight overhead, his skin didn't tan.
Instead, a faint crystal-blue chakra halo shimmered around him, deflecting ultraviolet rays.
It was water-nature chakra—controlled so precisely it formed a natural barrier.
He lay there for hours, unmoving, until the sun finally sank and dusk dimmed the sky.
"Comfortable," he muttered with a long stretch.
"No wonder people like lying around, emptying their heads, doing nothing. It really is comfortable."
"As agreed, I can finally stay at the new house tonight. Wonder how teacher Tenzo finished it?"
Itsuki sat up, smiling faintly as anticipation lit his face.
It had been three days since returning from the Land of Waves.
After handing over the mission, Itsuki had taken a short vacation.
He had planned to rest properly—but Tenzo had kicked him out of his own home.
Apparently, Tenzo wanted to use the time to renovate it.
So Itsuki had stayed in his old place these past few nights.
He had also hoped to meet with Kurenai Yuhi to help resolve Yakumo's condition.
But Kurenai and Asuma had just left on a joint mission—an escort for a caravan, and a delivery of the Chūnin Exam invitation to Takigakure.
Since they were traveling by the main road, there was little risk of combat, but it meant they'd be gone for days.
As for Sakura, Itsuki had tossed her a few C-rank genjutsu to practice, leaving her free to focus on her hospital internship without worrying about being dead weight.
Only Tenten had joined him regularly at night—helping with meals, light chores, and then sparring with him at the training grounds.
Otherwise, life had been leisurely.
Alone, Itsuki spent most of his time simulating genjutsu Kurenai had taught him, alongside sealing and barrier techniques passed to him by Kana.
Though he hadn't tested them in battle, he'd already mastered the basics.
By now, Itsuki felt his foundation was equal to that of an elite jōnin.
In raw strength, he could even contend with a Kage.
Still, he wasn't arrogant. He lacked their decades of combat experience.
Against an old veteran, victory wasn't certain.
But he was satisfied. After all, just a month ago, he'd had nothing.
"Another easy day gone," he mused, stretching again before darting off toward his house. "It'd be nice if life could stay like this forever."
He had already told Tenten not to wait for him tonight.
Once the house was finished, he planned to invite all his friends over for a housewarming party.
Not long after, Itsuki reached his home—and froze.
The once shabby, patched-up place was gone.
In its place stood a brand-new three-story villa, surrounded by gardens, open courtyards, and even its own training grounds. It looked grand and luxurious.
Walking up to the entrance, Itsuki found Tenzo collapsed on the ground, thin and pale, looking one breath away from death.
Itsuki sighed. He had warned him not to overdo it.
"Honestly… born with the spirit of an ox and horse," Itsuki muttered, kneeling to transfer chakra.
Tenzo instantly revived, springing up strong as a dragon.
Without wasting a second, he dragged Itsuki inside for a grand tour.
"The first floor—living room, dining, tea room, study. Second floor—bedrooms. Third floor—entertainment hall," Tenzo rattled off quickly.
Itsuki didn't even need the explanation—everything matched the plans he had drawn out, down to the smallest detail.
The furniture was postmodern and exquisitely made, some pieces custom-crafted, others hand-built.
It was perfect.
"By the way, Teacher Tenzo," Itsuki asked suddenly. "Which room is yours?"
Tenzo clapped a hand on his shoulder.
"I've thought it through. As your strength grows, your status will rise. You'll need privacy and space. This house might seem large, but for someone powerful, it's still small. So—I bought the house next door. I'll live there. That way I won't disturb you, but I'll still be nearby if you need me."
Before Itsuki could argue, Tenzo produced the deed from his robes.
"I already purchased it, and got the Third Hokage's personal approval. No backing out."
Itsuki was moved. Tenzo was more considerate than even a father.
He silently vowed: No matter what happens, I'll never betray Tenzo's trust.
"Come downstairs," Tenzo said cheerfully. "I've prepared a full table of food to celebrate your new home."
But when they entered the dining room, they stopped dead.
The table was indeed full of food—yet someone else was already eating it.
A blonde woman with a… considerable presence sat at the table, scarfing food down like a starving ghost.
Beside her stood a petite, short-haired woman holding a pink pig in her arms, looking mortified.
"Lady Tsunade, please!" Shizune whispered frantically. "This is someone else's property! If you're caught, your reputation—"
"Buhi—buhi—buhi." The pig, Tonton, covered its face with tiny hooves in shame.
Tsunade waved Shizune off, cheeks stuffed full. "It's fine, it's fine. Quit nagging. Sit down and eat, or just stand there and shut up."
She gulped down another mouthful. "After wandering, sleeping outdoors, and going hungry for so long, this food is heavenly. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I had a proper meal!"
Shizune's face twitched. "But why choose to live like that? One meal a day, starving yourself—it's insane! Don't you see the problem?!"
Before she could finish, her expression froze. She had sensed newcomers.
Shizune tried to drag Tsunade away, but the Sannin wouldn't budge. All she could do was wring her hands nervously.
Itsuki and Tenzo stepped inside, stunned.
"Tsunade… Lady Tsunade?!" Tenzo's jaw nearly hit the floor.
He knew she had recently returned to Konoha, causing no small commotion.
The Third Hokage had even tasked him with keeping an eye on her movements.
But to find the legendary medical master of the shinobi world—one of the Sannin—stealing food in his student's new house? It was too much.
"Yo," Tsunade called, not even looking up.
She waved casually, mouth still full. "Don't just stand there. Come eat."
Itsuki and Tenzo exchanged a look, both speechless.
Meanwhile, Shizune bowed so deeply she nearly snapped in half. "I—I'm so sorry!"
Her face burned with shame as she stammered, "There's no excuse… Please forgive her, please!"
