Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: A Warm, Loving Breakfast

"A maid." Mikoto chuckled softly.

"A woman?"

Until now, I've been nothing but a plaything.

And now she dares to climb on my head.

How lovely.

"Don't you dare!" Uzuki Yugao snapped, her face changing.

"Miss Yugao, there's no need to answer so quickly. When the time comes, give me your reply," Mikoto said with a smile.

"Hmph, give up already. No matter what, I will never agree," Yugao snorted.

"So tough, Miss Yugao. But is that really wise? Won't you think of your friend?" Mikoto said indifferently.

"What will you do to Hayate?" Yugao's face changed sharply.

"Heh heh, guess," Mikoto smiled.

Compared to before, Mikoto seemed to have darkened.

Drenched by the rain, she tore up someone else's umbrella.

Once humiliated and tamed, she now humiliated and tamed others.

"Don't mess around!" Yugao shouted in anger.

"That depends on your choice." Mikoto set down her food and turned to leave.

"Damn it!"

Yugao stared blankly as Mikoto walked away.

"Hayate, what should I do?"

Bathroom.

Steam billowed.

Mikoto soaked in the tub.

Her head rested against the rim.

Scenes of being humiliated by Uchiha Shin kept flashing through her mind.

Along with shame came a thrill unlike anything before, coursing through her.

Fugaku was good in every way, but too gentle.

He gave her a warm home,

but there wasn't much passion.

Uchiha Shin, though only twice so far,

was savage, rough, wild, and gave her an unprecedented thrill.

She would never admit she was a wanton woman.

But it truly felt good.

She seemed to be sinking into it.

If she had never seen the light, she might have endured the dark, but after tasting something more exhilarating, she could no longer return to those plain days.

"I'm sorry... husband... I think I've been remolded into Clan Head Shin's shape... there's no going back."

The next day.

Izumi woke early.

She had gone to bed early and slept soundly.

One could even call it a fainting sleep.

She woke refreshed and full of energy.

She looked at Uchiha Shin sleeping beside her

and a happy smile touched her lips.

She placed a light kiss on Shin's lips,

then went to make breakfast.

After getting together with Uchiha Shin yesterday, she had promised to make him breakfast every day.

It wasn't a joke.

She meant it.

By midmorning,

Uchiha Shin smelled a delicious aroma

and quickly woke from his dreams.

Stepping out of the bedroom, he saw Izumi busy in the kitchen,

and a feeling of happiness welled up in his chest.

In his previous life, shortly after starting work, he had been just an ordinary office worker.

His monthly pay barely covered expenses, leaving no extra to date.

Whenever he met a girl he liked,

once they learned he was broke,

they gave him no chance,

let alone living together and making him breakfast.

In this life, he was an orphan, doing everything himself since childhood.

At sixteen, he hadn't even dated, let alone married.

In both lives, he had never enjoyed anything like this.

By comparison, happiness came naturally.

"Brother Shin, you're awake." Izumi smiled sweetly.

"Awake." Shin smiled, walked behind Izumi, and hugged her.

In an instant, Izumi felt the spear against her back,

and her cheeks flushed.

"Brother Shin, I'm busy. After we eat, I have to attend the clansmen's funeral. No fooling around." Izumi chided coyly.

Shin kissed her earlobe

and smiled. "I'm not fooling around. Just holding you."

"Hmph, fine, but no—"

Before she could finish,

Shin pinched her delicate chin, turned her head, and kissed her.

Only when the pan began to burn did Izumi push Shin away.

"Ah, the steak's burnt, Brother Shin. It's all your fault." Izumi pouted as she hurried.

Shin chuckled softly,

turned, and went to wash up.

When he came out,

Izumi had finished breakfast.

"Brother Shin, come eat breakfast," Izumi said with a smile.

"Coming."

Shin headed to the table.

"Open up, taste this shrimp." Izumi picked up a peeled shrimp larger than a finger and fed it to him.

Shin opened his mouth and bit it.

After chewing for a moment, he praised, "Delicious."

"Then eat more."

They fed each other dishes back and forth,

warm and loving.

"Izumi, try the mouthwatering chicken too."

Without waiting for her reply, Shin leaned in and kissed her,

passing the chicken from his mouth to hers.

Izumi chewed on instinct,

then shot Shin a sidelong glance.

"Brother Shin, you're bad. You already put it in your mouth and then gave it to me."

"No, Brother Shin, you have to eat the tofu I put in my mouth too."

Shin did not refuse and ate all the tofu she passed from her mouth,

wearing an intoxicated expression.

"So good."

Feeding each other mouth to mouth might look gross to others,

but the two of them never tired of it.

Wrapped in affection, they finished breakfast.

After they ate,

Uchiha Shin took Izumi toward the rear mountain of the clan grounds.

By then the place was packed.

It was the funeral day for the clansmen who had died.

Nearly all of the Uchiha came to see them off.

"Elder Setsuna, as one of our elders you know the funeral procedure. I'll leave the rest to you," Shin said.

"Understood, Clan Head," Uchiha Setsuna replied without delay,

and presided over the burial.

After everyone was laid to rest,

Uchiha Shin stepped forward first and offered flowers to the dead.

"Rest in peace.

If there is a next life, I hope you will be born Uchiha again. Under my leadership, our clan will never again produce someone like Itachi. In your next lives, you will see a great Uchiha."

After Shin came Uchiha Izumi, then Uchiha Setsuna,

and soon it was Sasuke's turn.

As a member of the Uchiha, Sasuke naturally attended the funeral.

"I'm sorry."

Sasuke knew these people had died because of his brother Itachi.

With a thousand things to say, he still didn't know how to begin. He could only apologize to them on his brother's behalf.
