Chapter 10
Sean and Kingston managed to pull Gale off of Celia as she broke down into vigorous coughs with her breath barely at ease.
She further went far away from Gale once she's attained a small stamina. "The fuck! What the hell was that for?!" She cussed out once she's got some distance secured between herself and her assailant.
Gale on the other hand was still fuming, on the edge of ripping out of his brothers' restraint and finishing off his attack on Celia.
I could only stare and watch it unfold. I'm not physically strong enough to hold Gale back, and I wouldn't want myself getting hurt in any way.
"He's poisoned, what do you know about it?" I looked at her without pity as I questioned. She still had her palm up massaging her neck all round to her nape.
"What?!" Her brows pulled together to feign a believable shock. Yeah I'm not buying into that reaction, no matter how real it looks.
"I'm pretty sure you've been the one poisoning him, but because I lack the evidence to pin you down, there's not gonna be much for me to do to you right now. But best believe that I'm onto you and until I've pinned you down, you won't get away with this." I said to her, my tone calm but equally vicious. Enough to let her know that I wasn't bluffing and that I'm truly out to get her.
I don't just know what it is yet, but there's something seriously shady about her.
The way she treated me before she knew who I was, the lies she told my brothers to keep my father's sickness from their knowledge, and finally the scene I walked into upon returning back to check on my dad.
She didn't just held a pillow in her hands, it looked like she wanted to suffocate him if I hadn't walked in when I did.
"I can't be here right now, you all sounds mentally challenged and I think it'll be better for me to go somewhere safe till you've all come to your senses and realize I'm not the danger here." She addressed, straightening her posture before she strutted off through the exit.
"That bitch is crazy!" Kingston remarked as he slowly let go of Gale. "So what are we going to do now?" He also asked.
"If only you guys weren't holding me back, I could've-"
"Committed a felony offense that could get you a life sentence," I completed for him.
"You guys need to leave her for me. Celia is it? I'll deal with her and get her accounted for this if she's behind it as suspected," I added.
"Okay but we still have him to deal with," Sean glanced at our dad. "What are the doctors saying? Is he gonna make it or what? He looks really pathetic." He muttered mindlessly.
That's Sean for you, the exact copy of my father in term of personality. I might've taken after his physical appearance like most people usually comment, but Sean definitely took after most of his traits.
"Yeah?" Kingston gave me a hopeful look. Gale said nothing and just stared down at him, his own emotions barely expressed through his eyes.
"There's a slim chance he'd make it, but I know he will. The poison has destroyed vital parts of his respiratory system so that's where the main focus is on right now. I was told they'd like- administer some sort of treatment that reverse all the damages because that's all they can do, the poison doesn't have a cure and he has consumed enough meant to kill him." I explained to them as brightly as I could.
The room fell into an awkward silence after my explanation. We were now all staring at dad's ailing body with similar expressions masked to our faces.
"Can't believe he got poisoned without our knowledge. Like he would've died if it wasn't for you, Mother Nature." Kingston broke the silence with his comment.
"I wouldn't say he deserves it, but now he's learned his lesson about trusting a random chick you met at a bar or wherever it was they met." Sean's insensitive remark rolled out next.
And Gale. Gale was still silent. This hit him the most, he's been silent ever since Celia went out.
"I'm tasking you three with the job of his safety. You three needs to make sure he's protected at all times. He shouldn't be in a room alone with Celia, and always keep an eye on him. I have to leave now to go get some rest!" I said to them, simultaneously announcing my departure as I turned around to approach the exit.
"Wait!" Sean's voice halted my motion.
"So what happened with the dude you loved to the moon and back? Samir something. You've moved on or he's dumped your ass?"
"Sean!" Kingston nudged at his arm.
"Yup. He dumped my ass for his high school love and now we're divorced, are you happy?" I glared hard at him, "I'm out of here!" I rolled my eyes at him before I continued out of the room.
Today has just been one heck of a day for me. From divorcing Samir to finding all this out about my father, I could really use some rest.
Because tomorrow isn't just going to be another day- for me at least. It's gonna be me stepping back into the life I once discarded for love.
I arrived at the garage where my car was parked with my driver.
"Thanks!" I mouthed at the bodyguard who ushered me into the vehicle.
Just as we begin our journey back to the manor my phone buzzed, flashing out series of text received all at once.
I opened it up to read.
Anonymous Sender: You think your man is the only thing I've come to claim? Think again, I've come to destroy your life. So in your next life, you would never pin against what doesn't belong to you.
Following her text were pictures, pictures of me. Oh God!
What are these?! Oh no! What the fuck!
