A fresh beam of moonlight from the morning sun hit my eyes, and that woke me up from my sleep.
As I rose from my sleep, I saw that Hynroe was snuggled up on top of my legs. I slightly raised her so that I could move my legs around freely. After I moved, I placed her back down on the bed so that I would not disturb her sleep.
I saw that my roommate was stretching her body and chanting in a lower voice.
"Cleanse my body, cleanse my soul, and remove all of the impurities that are still within."
After I heard her chant that she shifted the position of her body to where her legs were perfectly split. She repeated the phrase again, and she shifted her body to another pose.
"Why are you doing that?" I asked her as I continued to look at what she was currently doing because I had never seen or heard of anyone doing any kind of exercises like that at all.
"I am causing the ki that is inside of my body to flow throughout it to purify the temple that is my body of all unclean substances that were in it."
"Wait; what is this ki that you are speaking of? Is it a source of magic?" I asked her as I put on my magical robe, and placed my staff on my back.
"It is a very unique type of energy that can only be unlocked with very strong mental discipline, and above all else, you must not be at war with yourself when channeling the ki throughout your body. If you try to force the ki out of your body you will actually cause the muscles and energy within your body and mind to malfunction. As the ki does not build up you will become as weak as a newborn baby."
"That sounds very difficult to maintain, but that tells me that you definitely were placed in the right dorm."
I thought about all of the different things that could go wrong if I messed up in casting my blood magic spells. I could accidentally pull out my own blood to the point where my age would accelerate past the point of no return. Because of that issue, I chose to spend a good chunk of my previous life practicing my control over my magic so that it never happened to me.
After I finished thinking about the differences between the way that my roommate and I channeled our own energies; I heard two knocks on the door to my dorm.
As I walked out of my room, I saw two letters on the floor. One of the letters was addressed to my roommate, and there was one letter that was addressed to me.
I placed the letter that was not addressed to me on the table that was at the foot of my roommate's bed. Then I opened up my letter to see what I had received on the first day of school.
Dear Syndrell: This is your class routine for the first year of your education here. The first period will be a class in magical circle design. The second period will be a class in dark realm philosophy. Then you will be on a lunch break. The third period will be a class in magic battling. The final period of your day will be a class in beast taming. We really hope that you will enjoy your classes.
I then put down the letter on my bed and grabbed Hynroe to place her on my shoulder. After that, I walked over to the building where I had to go through my class on magical circle design.
When I walked to the correct building, I saw a magical barrier that surrounded the entire building. As I walked to the edge of this barrier; part of it deactivated so that I could easily pass through.
I saw that someone was starting at me from a window on a higher floor. They were glaring at me as if they were analyzing me as I entered the building. It was going to be better for me to ignore the glares that I was sensing.
As soon as I entered the building the glares faded away.
In the center of the first floor, I saw a metal spiral staircase that seemed to go all the way to the top floor of the building.
I made my way up the stairs to the second floor and went to the classroom that was at the end of the hallway.
At the end of the hallway, I saw a massive wooden double door that was at least twenty feet in height. I was able to easily open the doors despite their size because of the metal handles that seemed to have a continuous magical enchantment.
When I opened the door, I saw a set of red and white magical circles show up right in front of my face.
As if it was instinct Hynroe cast a set of blood magic circles that canceled out the trios of circles in front of me.
"Well, at least one of my new students has what it takes to dispel such a unique magical circle that did not backfire and harm themselves." I heard a female voice say from the front of the classroom.
I started to examine the room that I was in, and I saw that almost all of the students were staring at me with stares filled with hate and anger as if they were not happy with my success at dispelling the trap that seemed to await each of us.
Now that I had gotten past the teacher's test, I made my way to the lower level of the classroom which was also the front row. I noticed that not a single student in the classroom was in the front row. Even though I knew that there was a good reason for none of the other students being in the front row; I chose to sit there to help me focus on my work.
I will not allow anything to get in my way to the top of the school.
"Since the final one of my students has arrived, we can begin to start the lesson for today.
As you can tell I am a half pixie. I will be here to teach how to create magical circles because I have a good level of circle enchantment skill. When you finish this class, you should be able to do more than just create your own types of magical circles." The teacher said as she generated a variety of different circles that each contained different colored rings them.
I listened to every word that the teacher said as she started to explain all of the different magic circles.
"There are three main kinds of magical circles that are frequently used in this region of the world, the first kind is an elemental circle. With these, you can only cast circles of the elements that are compatible with you. You could use them to enhance your spells in a variety of different ways.
The second magical circle category is a category of illusion circles. People use these as a means to deceive or mislead someone.
Your final min category is special magic circles. This applies to the rarest types of magic out there. For example, blood magic, the use of ki, and any kind of inherent magic that you get from a rare bloodline".
The teacher continued to talk for over two hours about barriers and how they can be enhanced or manipulated. I paid attention to every word that left her lips knowing that this information could be what saves my life in a very close battle.
