Chapter 163 - Chapter 162: Kal'tsit's Confusion

The spy was currently in his room, recording the information he had recently gathered from his informants.

Although the informants were all ordinary people, it was precisely because they were ordinary that Rhodes Island was not wary of them.

A few months ago, he was dispatched by Duke Fox to infiltrate Rhodes Island as an Infected person.

After several months of effort, he finally established his influence in the lower echelons of Rhodes Island.

Moreover, he found that most ordinary Infected citizens were very easy to manipulate; with just a little bit of interest and emotional appeal, they would pour out everything they knew. By now, he had collected a good deal of information about Rhodes Island, including news about the young child who had previously caused the Duke great embarrassment.

As long as he waited for the contact person to arrive and transmit this intelligence, his hopes of promotion, a raise, and marrying a beautiful and wealthy woman would be within reach.

Just as he was recording the day's intelligence, footsteps sounded from outside. He vigilantly looked towards the door.

He constantly remembered that as a spy, he had to hide himself well, otherwise, he didn't need to think much about what would happen if he was discovered in this enemy's lair.

Hearing the footsteps fade away, the spy sighed in relief, easing his tense mood.

But just as he turned to continue recording, the sight before him caused his pupils to contract violently.

A little girl had somehow appeared on his desk, squatting there, and in her hand was his notebook used for recording Rhodes Island's intelligence.

As for the identity of this little girl, other ordinary Infected might not know, but he knew very well, after all, his mission when he came to Rhodes Island was to find her.

"Tsk tsk tsk... Your intelligence work isn't very good!" He was still wondering if there was a way to deceive the other party and make Kanna return the important notebook to him, but Kanna's first words made his vision go dark.

He flipped over to the coat rack, pulling out his weapon he brought to Rhodes Island, a tactical knife, from inside.

Just as a slight surge of confidence rose within him upon grasping the weapon, he realized Kanna was no longer in her previous spot.

"What are you looking for, Uncle?" The soft, sweet voice in his ear, however, made him feel as if he was hearing the devil's whisper.

He subconsciously swung the weapon in his hand, stabbing in the direction of the voice, but the sensation in his hand was not the smooth penetration of flesh, but rather like striking a diamond.

He tried to retract the weapon but found it unmoving. He immediately released his grip on the weapon and then performed a backward roll, attempting to create distance from the other party.

Only then did he have the leisure to glance at what was happening, and he saw Kanna holding his small knife between two fingers.

Just a moment ago, when the spy retreated to the coat rack, Kanna had already teleported to his side using Thunderbolt Wedge from Star Shift.

He hadn't expected the other party to react so quickly; just as he intended to tease him, he suddenly erupted, lunging with his weapon towards his forehead.

Left with no choice, Kanna had to use the long-lost unique technique, 'Spiritual Link Finger,' to clamp the incoming dagger.

The other party clearly had no intention of being captured without a fight, taking this opportunity to leap to the desk, watching Kanna warily.

Kanna, holding the small knife, thought of something. She skillfully twirled the knife, then brought it before her.

"This knife of mine, it's a poisoned blade coated in venom."

Although Kanna intended to tease her opponent, at this moment, the spy had no inclination to retort to Kanna.

Rows of sweat beaded on his forehead. He didn't believe Rhodes Island had only sent Kanna alone here; outside the door, there might be an army ambushing him.

The ventilation in Rhodes Island's infirmary relied mainly on built-in concealed air ducts, and there were no windows for him to perform his skill of breaking out.

Now that he was exposed, he had only two choices: one was to seize the child opposite him as a hostage, forcing Rhodes Island to let him go. Or, to decisively commit suicide and end his suffering.

Unfortunately, the former was as difficult as ascending to heaven for him, and for the latter, he lacked the courage.

After a moment of thought, he raised both hands. "If I surrender, as a pharmaceutical company, Rhodes Island will treat captives well, right?!"

"I don't know!" Kanna's voice came from behind him again like a ghost. This time, before he could even turn his head, he felt a heavy blow to the back of his skull, his eyes rolled back, and he collapsed.

Clapping her hands, Kanna jumped off the desk and opened the door. J. A. was already waiting at the entrance with a trolley. Kanna nodded to him. J. A. walked in, swiftly lifted the unconscious spy onto the trolley, then covered him with a white cloth and pushed him out of the Inpatient Department.

As for where the spy would be taken, Kanna didn't care. Instead, she happily took his notebook to Kal'tsit to turn in the mission.

In the Control Room, Kal'tsit took the notebook Kanna handed her and quickly flipped through it. It recorded Rhodes Island's recent docking times and locations, as well as the patrol times and routes of lower-level Operators.

If this intelligence were smuggled out, not only could the enemy determine Rhodes Island's route, but they could also exploit the patrol blind spots to infiltrate Rhodes Island. (Here's a complaint about the comic's absurdity: it's one thing for a four-year-old girl to smuggle herself onto Rhodes Island in a box, but Ifrit can also take her off Rhodes Island, and nobody even notices? That's quite preposterous.)

It was rare for Kanna to do something good; although the process was a bit unconventional, the outcome was good for Rhodes Island, and Kal'tsit's expression brightened considerably.

"You won't need to participate in the upcoming interrogation. Rhodes Island has many people skilled in that area... You did well this time."

Kal'tsit affirmed Kanna's achievement. At this moment, Kanna's mission also displayed as completed with a "ding-dong."

"Okay, I'm leaving!" Kanna said, then ran out with an excited mood.

This made Kal'tsit even more puzzled. Kanna, that child, usually wouldn't lift a finger without profit. Why would she be so proactive in doing things she normally wouldn't even consider, and without expecting any reward?

She immediately asked Priscillas, "Has there been any severe damage anywhere on Rhodes Island recently? Especially in places where Kanna usually stays?"

A few seconds later, Priscillas responded, "Recently, there has been no severe damage or suspicious areas on Rhodes Island. Operator Kanna's travel routes and Stay places are concentrated in the Greenhouse area, Operator Whisperain's office, and the dormitories. These three locations are currently all fine."

After Priscillas answered, Kal'tsit became even more confused. So what was Kanna after? She also asked Amiya nearby, and Amiya also stated that Kanna's recent behavior was not abnormal.

"Hmm, if I had to say, what did Kanna do before catching the spy?" Amiya was also a bit curious, as this behavior was very different from Kanna's usual lazy demeanor.
