Chapter 148 - Chapter 147: Annihilation

Boarding the helicopter again, Kanna felt her butt was a bit numb—she had been sitting back and forth for too long, and the amount of exercise from the battle just now wasn't enough at all.

After the helicopter returned to the battlefield, Kanna looked down at the ground from above, then checked the traces left by the Pray for Rain skill. Without hesitation, she pointed in the direction Team A4 had left and said, "It's that way!"

The old man with the scimitar from Bloodied Valley, watching from the side, felt a chill in his heart.

In this rainy environment, many traces would be covered by rainwater, and visibility was limited. He only noticed Team A4's direction from the surrounding clues after Kanna pointed out the location. In other words, he was looking for the answer with the answer already provided, and even then, it was still a bit difficult. But Kanna was able to point out the location without hesitation, which proved one thing: in terms of field of vision, the gap between himself and Kanna was enormous.

If they were enemies, with such a difference in vision, he would be almost blind in front of Kanna.

Fortunately, Kanna was on Rhodes Island's side.

Ranger finally understood why Scout was so good to Kanna and even declared that if Kanna was willing, he could make her Rhodes Island's best Sniper Operator.

Just as Ranger was envying Kanna's unique field of vision, the helicopter arrived above Team A4.

At this time, they were like a pack of wolves hunting, slowly and steadily devouring the fleeing enemies.

Once the opponents tried to counterattack, one of them would throw Kanna's doppelganger. With the doppelganger's powerful and fearless charge, it only took two rounds to completely extinguish the opponents' last remaining will to resist.

At this moment, those "elites" had completely lost their will to resist. Even if they survived, that small purple figure would become a nightmare that would haunt them for the rest of their lives.

"I heard a story from my grandma. Two unarmed civilians met a wild bear hunting in the wilderness. One of them immediately ran away. The other was very confused, thinking it was impossible to outrun a wild bear. But the one who ran said, 'I don't need to outrun the wild bear, I just need to outrun you...' Don't those people look like that!"

Kanna stood on the helicopter, observing the fleeing enemies below, and complained to Blackcorner.

Blackcorner nodded in agreement after hearing this. "That's right, you've hit the nail on the head! But the grandma you mentioned, is she Outcast?"

"Shut up, Blackcorner! Is Outcast someone you can casually mention?" Yato, seeing Blackcorner's inability to control his chatter, slapped him on the horn on his forehead.

Durin, who had been sleeping peacefully beside them, suddenly felt a burst of killing intent accompanied by a fierce gust of wind sweep across her face, startling her so much that she shot up, almost stepping out of the cabin. Fortunately, the experienced Ranger grabbed her by the collar.

Originally, Kal'tsit's intention was to have Team A4 and Kanna bring them back, fearing excessive losses for Team A4 and Team Misery during the pursuit. But seeing the smooth pursuit below, the few of them discussed it and decided that instead of stopping now, they might as well join in. Since they had already turned hostile, they might as well hit them hard and make them feel the pain.

Ranger and Durin, a sniper and a caster, occupied the left and right sides of the helicopter door, bombing the enemy from above.

Kanna, meanwhile, used Thunderbolt Wedge to move at high speed around the helicopter, intercepting any Originium Arts or crossbow bolts that attempted to attack the helicopter.

And she naturally appeared clearly in the enemy's sight.

Seeing that nightmarish figure appear on the battlefield again, those fleeing people were on the verge of tears.

They had originally thought this would be a very easy job—just eliminate the armed forces of a pharmaceutical company to appease the Grand Duke. They never expected to hit a steel plate, or rather, to hit a landship.

Now, less than one-tenth of their many people were still alive, and the other side was still relentlessly pursuing them, seemingly determined not to stop until they were completely wiped out.

But since they were going to die anyway, why not turn around and fight them?

Those who had this idea before had mostly died at Kanna's hands. Now, these people were utterly terrified; besides fleeing, their minds were completely blank.

This was also why Team A4 had pursued them effortlessly, without even a single injury.

Finally, with combined efforts from above and below, it took over half an hour to successfully annihilate all the enemies.

When they returned to the helicopter, the members of both small teams collapsed inside. They hadn't felt it during the chase, but as soon as the battle was over, it felt as if all the energy had been drained from their bodies.

After inspecting the Operators who boarded the helicopter, the members of Team A4 were surprised to find that only a few people from the two teams had sustained minor injuries during the pursuit; there were no serious injuries, no deaths. For two teams of fewer than thirty people to pursue a force of several hundred for so long with such minimal losses—if they hadn't seen it with their own eyes, they would have thought it was a joke.

When the helicopter returned to the deck of Rhodes Island, Gavial was already waiting there with several Medical Operators.

"How is it! Are there any seriously injured? Do you need emergency treatment!"

As soon as the cabin door opened, Gavial rushed in first.

Yato patted Gavial on the shoulder.

"No need to worry, Doctor Gavial, just a few minor injuries. Everyone else is just exhausted."

Gavial also saw the situation inside the cabin clearly. Although the Operators were scattered on the ground, there was no strong smell of blood in the cabin, and everyone's complexion was relatively rosy, indicating no seriously injured personnel.

After a sigh of relief, she asked Yato about the situation, because the helicopter had returned much later than expected. If Kal'tsit hadn't been certain that with Kanna on board, the helicopter would be fine, the next helicopter would have already been prepared for departure.

Upon learning that there were no serious injuries or deaths inside the helicopter, the doctors who had come also smiled.

"Hey, hey, hey! Didn't you say you were pursuing? How did your butt get injured there?" A Medical Operator asked a Guard Operator with a butt injury, puzzled.

"I rushed too fast, and it was raining, and the road was slippery..." Hearing the Medical Operator's words, everyone looked over in unison. Noticing the mortifying stares, the Guard's face turned beet red as he continuously explained the cause of his injury.

"Hahahahaha."

Everyone laughed in unison, and for a moment, the tense atmosphere on the deck dissipated, replaced by a cheerful air.

Of course, except for the Operator with the butt injury. He never expected that after only sustaining minor injuries amidst the chaos of battle, he would be so backstabbed by his own teammates upon returning to Rhodes Island, suffering ten thousand points of critical damage to his spirit and collapsing heavily.
