Chapter 16 - Chapter Fiveteen.

Akiko asked worriedly to Sumiko who was surprised.

"Dad, are you coming back?"

Sumiko couldn't help but hug Akiko.

"It's okay. It's okay."

While saying this, Sumiko was extremely upset thinking about Shikishima's determination.

A special minesweeper was anchored off the coast of Miura. As the lookout on deck looked through her binoculars, the buoy containing the Geiger counter began to react violently. Deep-sea fish were being caught one after another around it.

Godzilla appeared much earlier than planned. The lookout hurriedly grabbed the radio.

"This is Kuroshio No. 12, latitude 35°03'N, longitude 139°41'E. A strong reaction to the Geiger buoy. At the same time, a large number of deep-sea fish were confirmed to have surfaced!"

Submarine boats equipped with underwater loudspeakers were dispatched all at once. An underwater loudspeaker connected by wire behind them began to play Godzilla's sinister roar, which had been recorded during the Ginza attack.

It was a memento found among the ruins of the destroyed town, left behind by the reporters who remained on the rooftop until the end to report on the situation. And that was enough for Godzilla to realize that his territory had been invaded.

At the port, port broadcasts began to broadcast the situation, which had changed drastically from the plan.

"Many deep-sea fish have been reported to have surfaced between Oshima and Sagami Bay. Underwater loudspeaker units are currently providing guidance as Godzilla is predicted to appear. All ships should depart from port at 072 Marunanafta 0, ahead of schedule."

A fleet of four destroyers, including Yukikaze, were lined up in full gear. Noda and Akitsu were seen on the Yukikaze deck.

"It seems Mizushima-kun has given up."

"I feel sorry for you, but I can't help it."

"Actually, I don't want Shiki-san to fly either. Shiki-san is a survivor of a suicide attack, isn't he? It seems unreasonable..."

"Akiko is here. She'll definitely come back."

It was at that time. I heard a dull thud from offshore, and then something that turned into a giant fireball flew in a long parabola. It crashed straight into the port building where the headquarters was located. The collapsed port building was quickly engulfed in flames.

Through the flames I could barely make out that it was a submarine chaser. Touched by Godzilla's wrath, the submarine destroyer was snapped in two by the blow, and was thrown back into the port in a ball of flame.

The expressions of everyone there froze at the gift from Godzilla. As I remembered, an air raid siren sounded.

"Underwater loudspeaker unit destroyed! Godzilla invades Sagami Bay! Sea God squad, set sail immediately!"

At that moment, Akitsu noticed something from the deck and pointed offshore. There was a huge dorsal fin that ran through the waves.

It's Godzilla.

"Hey, that's it"

"Are you here already?"

The mines planted at the entrance to the port explode one after another, but Godzilla gracefully swims straight toward the port, as if he doesn't care.

"At this rate, he'll land!"

At that time, Shinden was pulled out and was idling. Shinden's engine was running smoothly, hard to believe that it had been running for a long time. At that time, a radio contact was received from the military port.

"Godzilla has definitely broken through the defense line! Landing has begun!"

The battle situation has become unpredictable.

"Go out"

After Shikishima declared this, he began taxiing the Shinden onto the runway that spread out in front of the hangar. Shikishima saluted Tachibana and the others who were following him, then put his engine lever at full throttle and began to ski.

Eventually, Shinden made the strange aircraft soar. The huge propeller's torque was so great that Shinden seemed to have a tendency to lean slightly to the left. Kajishikishima used a slight rudder to keep the aircraft level.

Quite a shrew

Even as I thought so, the high-octane fuel, whose performance was clearly different from that used at the end of the war, had a tremendous effect, and my speed increased in an interesting way. Shikishima nodded in satisfaction and sped up even more towards Godzilla.

In front of the hangar, Tachibana and the others who had returned looked up at the contrail left behind by Shikishima.

"Let's end it all, Shikishima."

As Tachibana murmured this, the usual overtone of blaming Shikishima disappeared from his eyes. The military port was in panic. Godzilla, which was supposed to meet them off the coast of Sagami Bay, is about to land at a speed that greatly exceeds expectations.

Noda and his friends were staring at Godzilla on top of the snowy wind, which was being tossed about by the waves caused by each step.

Eventually, Godzilla, along with a submarine destroyer, trampled the burning port office building and lifted its huge body into the port. Then he started walking inland, seemingly not caring about the people fleeing.

"What are we going to do? The plan is completely destroyed."

"Anyway, let's set sail. We can't be sure unless we sink in the Sagami Trough, where we can get the maximum effect. We have no choice but to rely on Shiki-san's Shinden to guide us."

The port announcement was blaring in the military port, which had become like a beehive. "Depart immediately. Repeatedly, all ships of the Sea God Corps must depart immediately."

It was a spectacular sight to see these four ships, Yukaze, Sakura, Yukikaze, and Hibiki, forming a fleet and heading to the operational area. However, unless Godzilla can guide them, these ships will have no way of fighting. When they thought about it, the remains of the main guns of each ship that were removed when they were converted into salvage ships looked even lonelier.

The operational headquarters was located on Yukikaze Bridge. The dispatcher called Noda.

"This is Shikishima. The takeoff was successful. We will continue to guide Godzilla to the operational area."

"This will be ready soon as well."

"Can you hear me, Shikishima?"

"Then get to the operational area as soon as possible!"

Akitsu barged in to grab the communication microphone.

"Listen, Shikishima, don't be so reckless. I won't forgive you if you leave Akiko alone."

There was no response from Shikishima. Without any warning, the radio suddenly went out.

"That bastard ignored me!"

Noda became worried about this response.

"...Mr. Shiki, no way."

In the cockpit of the Shinden, Shikishima watched the lives of people spread out below. Akiko, Noriko, and Shikishima live in each of the houses spread out in the mountains, and they live their daily lives.

We can't let Godzilla destroy this. With renewed determination, Shikishima faced forward. A small Godzilla appeared in the distance. A delivery man from the telegraph office comes to Sumiko, who is at a loss as Akiko falls asleep from crying.

The telegram that Sumiko received stated that she was shocked. Sumiko's hand trembled as she held it. Sumiko's breathing became labored as she thought about the fate Shikishima would have chosen for her.

"Koichi-san..."

By the time the shockwave reached the sky above Kamakura, Godzilla had already trampled houses in the area.

Shikishima took the plunge and fired a 30mm cannon at Godzilla's nose. As expected, Godzilla did not appear to have been damaged by the 30mm cannon, but his reaction to the shockwave was quick.

He successfully targeted Shinden and stuck his head out at twice the normal speed, trying to get hit by Shinden. Shikishima narrowly avoided Godzilla's attack by slightly tilting his aircraft. At that moment, its tail swung wildly and approached Shinden's cockpit.

"Dangerous!"

By quickly lowering the flap and using it like an air brake, he was able to stall a bit and barely survive the tail attack. Shikishima was surprised to find that the behavior he had trained to avoid the enemy's trajectory during the mock air battle unconsciously saved him.

Godzilla seemed to have completely decided that Shinden, who was clinging to him like a persistent fly, was the target of his attack. Godzilla finally changed course and started walking toward Sagami Bay.

At the Yukikaze Bridge in Sagami Bay, Akitsu and Noda were observing the situation through large binoculars. When Godzilla changed course and finally entered the ocean, Akitsu let out an exclamation.

"Haha, that's a big deal. Godzilla has a band temper. He's chasing me."

"It's our turn."

Hotta sent a message to each department of the Sea God operation.

"All circuits connected"

Voices came back from various places through the transmission tubes.

"Good cable!"

"Freon cylinder is good!"

"Hurry up for final inspection of all ships!"

"The levitation device has been equipped. We will now proceed to the final confirmation."

The four cruisers aligned their bows toward Godzilla. Godzilla finally reentered the ocean from the side of Enoshima, making a huge splash. With her dorsal fin and head exposed above the sea, Godzilla began to swim, slowly twisting her body while following the taunting shockwaves.
