Chapter 36 - The Deal

Carl walked through the gate in amazement, he probably had never been to the other side, he was shocked by the appearance of the goblins as well. The huge pillar was now completely covered with Ivy, the large basin had started to overflow into a stream from the waters pouring from its side.

"Mr. Montgomery is it, you should know it is usually proper to address me as, your majesty."

"Umm yes, your majesty," said Carl.

"So as you can see we are not smuggling through the clan's nor anyone else's gate. I would be of the position that the clans are actually the ones that are stealing from this world, but that's neither here nor there. But, are you not thoroughly convinced?"

"Ohhh, I think we will have a mutually profitable arrangement."

"Then I will leave the details to Lady Sara and Sir Kurt," Layla said, leaving to her Pillar. Susan, with Robby in her arms, decided to join her on the way back to their home, Jerry stayed around, and finally the proper people were having the meeting. "Come and get me when you want to move the gate, you should probably find a better place for it."

"Jerry, what did you bring me?"

"We were hoping for what it was, yes fabulous wealth, that right, did we come to the right place?" said Jerry.

"You have no idea? How often can I move the gate?" said Carl.

"Huh?" said Kurt.

"Kid it's not just the ore that will sell too, don't worry about that, it's the transportation. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to ship thousands of pounds of material? The man power, the horse power, you could even go across the water, the meals for them. Can I just set up a warehouse on this side? Move with just a single horse? Half of my job is logistics, getting things from one place to another. Buy where the product is plentiful, sell where it is rare. I will pay through the nose for that alone, you don't even need to provide me anything, just space and movement. I'll make the trip super comfortable, the best inns on the way, armed guards, the Royal treatment. It would save me thousands of trips."

"Well, we weren't thinking about that," said Kurt, "I think we should start our relationship with just the material first, moving the gate, we will have to talk to Layla, and I'm not sure how that would work."

"Hmm, we could do a seasonal thing, just a couple trips a year, I get it you don't wanna end up like Jerry always on the road. And why when you really don't have to. But yes, we can hash out some details, I will buy everything you have."

They had a lot of discussions about pricing. There were still problems as Kurt and Sara hadn't set up any sort of actual mining operation, so there was a lot to do on that front. They would have to employ some of the goblins. The reality was that they didn't actually have too much on hand to actually sell. Though Carl had bought all of it, and they had made more money then they had ever had before off that one transaction. But in the end it was a deal both sides could walk from happy. They would exclusively sell ore to him, on a two year contract, he would provide a place for the gate to be properly set up and protected. And in return they would be assured that the secret would remain with as few people as possible, as well as good pricing, giving Carl a large profit and more money than Kurt and Sara really could spend.

The big part was the amount of money Carl was talking about for just letting him set up a warehouse, and move the gate from time to time. Kurt felt he couldn't even negotiate that part without Layla, but assured him they would be seriously discussing options for him. It was decided that they would come back in two weeks with more ore and have a position on what Carl was asking for. They had figured out where to put the gate as well, Carl had a few warehouses in the area, and one was smaller and bit less used, there was a part of it that was supposed to be completely unused, and provided a proper hiding place. The warehouse also had big doors and chains, there was already a security force that didn't even need to be told not to let people in. It is also allowed in the carriage as a bonus. So it seemed more than adequate for now at least.

"Ohh and if you need anything for here? Just ask the receptionist."

"What do you mean?"

"Do you need furniture, food, utensils, tools? Just make a list and give it to her, I'll keep track of it. I can get very busy, so finding me isn't always easy, I'll make sure she knows what to do. We can work out the receipts when we settle everything next time. So don't be spending more than you are selling. I can usually get the best deals on things."

"I need a proper bed," said Sara.

"That can be arranged. Complete? Frame, mattress sheets, blanket, pillows?"

"Sure."

"Make it two" said Kurt

"No problem, I can get it here tomorrow morning, it is getting late here. You'll just have to take it from the warehouse, I won't be having people just walking in here, we will probably have to discuss who can go through as well, if we are moving things to and from. I'll have to think about that as well."

"Some mining tools, pickaxes, shovels and carts would be a big help as well."

"Yeah, I can get some supplies for that, good thinking."

"Jerry wants some horses that I would think would be part of you providing transportation," said Sara.

"I can provide horses that's easy, I can talk with Jerry about it, I did say the royal treatment so you don't need to buy them, as long as we work out something of the gate moving, otherwise I would have to sell them to you," looking at Jerry who nodded back. "I've got a lot to think about, I think I have most of this deal done, we can write something up in the coming days, But it is getting late, goodnight to you all, this was a very good day for both of I would think. We will have lots of discussions in the coming days."
