I vaulted over the iron fence, using the top as stepping, I leaped above.
2…
1…
Blink!
Then, I vanished mid-air reappearing by the edge of the building accmpanied with a loud pang.
A hot sensation surged through my head. Blood trickled from my nose.
I messed up and hit my head while trying to grab the ledge of building—Blink was tricky to control. One misstep and I could've lunged straight into the ground… or worse.
Five kilometers to school. Late on my first day. My lungs burned, my legs screamed. I couldn't afford to slow down.
Below, the streets teemed with people—some flying on brooms, some racing on flying sword. A nostalgic chaos mixed with the impossible. For a second, made me forget to breathe as I leaped from roof to roof.
Timing my Blinks, I slowly adapted to my Unique Skill.
———
Huff.. huff…
I rested my hand on my knee with haggard breath. It's been millenium since I last ran this much—and the stamina cost of blink were much intense than I thought.
It's as if I ran 50m with all my strength every time I used it.
"Hmph! What is it this time…?" A tall girl's voice cut through the noise. Her glasses glinted, and she fidgeted with a tablet.
"Student Number 37,777: Mochizuki Ren. Should I assume you're also late because of the bus?"
Wh- she's so beautiful… taken aback by the beauty of a random character, I opened my mouth nervously. "Y-yes?"
What did she mean by the thirty students? Is this school so bad that it gets thirty students late every day?
"Answer clearly!"
Now that she mentioned it, I noticed other students rushing toward the entrance ceremony. "Y-yes!" I blurted
"And why are you drenched in sweat?"
"Uh… I thought running would be faster…"
"Are you an idiot? No wonder your timing's off. Here—take this and hurry!" The girl pressed a cooling towel into my hands.
I bowed instinctively. "Thank you!"
I met a goddess. I silently swore to myself to help her if she ever got into trouble.
Then, I headed toward the entrance ceremony. Feeling the sweat of my back absorbed by the towel and the towel cool my heated body, I entered.
Avoiding the eyes of many students listening to the headmaster's speeches—I head to my seat.
Halfway through, her eyes—no, the headmaster's eyes—met mine. That smile caused my chest to tighten.
Crap.
Only once I sat did I finally allow myself to breathe. That was terrifying.
"40 years has passed since the founding of our academy, and I feel proud to welcome the new students…." The headmaster's calm, measured voice echoed across the room.
Mic magic… how convenient…
Speeches were never my thing; since childhood, I always fought the urge to yawn mid-address.
Remembering the incident in-game where the headmaster accurately bashing (publicly shaming) dozing students among eight-hundred students made me fear for the unhappened future.
If memory serves, this is where the first scenario unfolds: demons raid the academy.
Partly because of her "unfortune," but mostly because the command-in-charge wanted to test the "generation of miracle." I glanced at the ceiling, my mind wandering.
Silently, I activated my Sixth Sense: Danger Sight feeling a weight pressing against my brain.
I couldn't detect anything—it wasn't as omnipotent as I had expected.
The headmaster at the center of stage continued her speech, and her gaze shifted to a blonde haired boy.
The player's official appearance. Seeing the familiar siuation I've experienced thousand of times, I chanted the dialagoue at the back of my mind.
"Even if you were a student personally recommended by me."
"We advocate fairness and equality in this academy. Regardless of your lineage, status, or royal blood, every student stands on equal ground here."
A small vein popped on the headmaster's forehead as her gaze turned sharp. "That's why even if you were a student personally recommended by me..."
"It doesn't mean you can sleep during my speech"
"Doesn't mean you can sleep during my speech," the headmaster rose her slender index finger, a small squishy hammer forming out of it.
Then, I made my move.
*BOOM*
Accompanied by the explosion, my Sixth Sense alarmed, telling the spots not to stand to.
Rubbles befall from the ceiling, as headmaster widened her eyes—she must be surprised that someone were suicidal enough to attack this place at her presence.
Yeah they are, and they're well prepared.
In the game, I could only see from player's perspective, so I had to calculate from his position to her, then to mine but that wasn't too much of an issue for me.
Spatial awareness was my speciality, even if you exclude my Hyper-Sensitive Mana Circuit.
With certainty, I jumped away from my seat.
As expected, chaos broke loose.
Students screamed. The air trembled with mana and dust.
I moved on instinct, my Sixth Sense drawing invisible lines—every falling rubble, every trembling beam, every desperate footstep, the collision point between fellow students.
I slipped through them all.
Seventeen meters.
Seven.
The smell of gunpowder burned my nose. Heat brushed my skin.
I closed my eyes.
And let everything go.
Power surged from within—my heart pounded like a drum.
I channeled [Blink] with an unclouded mind.
Five meters.
Three.
Space bent. The world twisted. My perception overloading itself in desperate attempt to keep up.
Then—
I vanished.
*BOOM*
The blast echoed as I reappeared high in the air, my leg already in motion.
My kick connected with the falling rubble, shattering it mid-air before I crashed onto the floor, knees bent, dust rising around me.
"You okay?"
With my back turned—eyes still closed—I called out to her.
Despite my very being alarming me to stay away from the attraction of calamity, I didn't move.
"Th-thank you!"
Her voice, like the arrival of untainted winter—soft, trembling, yet somehow unwavering— cut through the din.
White hair spilled over her shoulders, scattering like snow glinting in the firelight. My lungs forgot how to function
I was dying inside. That voice were far too adorable.
"Stay focused, the attack isn't over yet," I muttered forcing my racing mind to calm down.
"Ye-yes!!"
