Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Different Sides Of Two Not So Similar Coins.

Being an infuriated former soldier who saw real combat. My response to the strange aggression, is equally hostile, natural and decisive, sprinting towards my assailant with clear intention of employing lethal force.

The «Mirror Me» hurriedly walks back, sending a new Cutlass energy slash in my direction.

I dribble, evading the attack without hindering my advance.

He doesn't unleash another Cutlass right away, showing me that he can't use it in a quick succession.

{Six seconds?}.

My thought is on point, dodging the incoming Cutlass as soon as he starts matching the distinctive motion with the pronunciation of his vocal command.

The intonation and posture of the «Mirror Me» is quite enlightening. Evidencing he is logical, precise and methodic.

{He must had to practiced this Hocus-pocus slash for long enough to be this accurate. However. Extreme mastery has an infallible weakness. It becomes predictable and repetitive}.

Standing a few steps away from him, he dispatches a Cutlass. Same motion, and equal alignment to before.

The counterplay is simple, even with our closeness, a zigzagging footwork to the left is enough to avoid the aggression, and secure my counterattack, a straight punch with my left fist.

The impact is consistent and blunt, but not entirely fruitful, my knuckles are partially stopped millimeters away from his face by a blue energetic film coating the affected area, fluctuating with the harsh contact, but weakly pushing back and repelling my hand.

"«Dash»". He screams with a pained groan, his body is displaced backwards without moving his feet, sliding over the ground of darkness and leaving behind a reddish ethereal trail in his wake.

He stumbles due to the sudden acceleration, along the aftermath of my hit.

I chase him down.

His posture stabilizes, hurriedly rising his right arm, but the gesture is distinct. His palm does not have firm and extended fingers, but curved digits.

"«Clawed Paw»".

Five violet slashes come out without a predictable predetermined orientation. I perform a tiger front flip, passing through the energetic blades, unscathed, reducing the distance and hastily launching a punch with my right.

The blue cover appears on the left cheek of the «Mirror Me». Though i don't commit to the motion, avoiding my previous mistake.

Instead, i swap my offensive midway, from a simple straight punch to a quick curved elbow strike that hits the right side of his face.

There is no magical obstacle protecting him, allowing the blow to crash with full force, braking my assailant's mandible.

"Lightning". He agonizingly screams in desperation, his hand emitting a stream of electricity that strikes my left eye.

The scorching is annoying, stronger than a taser, but my natural lubrication emerges, the charred skin glistening with a viscous blob of fluid, cooling and healing me. Though this takes away a part of my visual perception, yet, my fierceness and rage doesn't dwindle down in the slightest.

Profundity may be gone, replaced by the remaining stench of my own burnt flesh, and to not be in a greater disadvantage, i lunge forward.

Tackling the «Mirror Me», pushing his head against the darkness below us, and gripping his mouth with my left, i rapidly punch with my dominant hand his Adam's apple, hammering it constantly with my knuckles, and slowly fracturing his windpipe.

With his wrecked throat, he can't use more of his immaterial spells. And rather than hearing void words that probably will be wrong answers. I prefer to go after his life, switching the target of my fists, to strike his head, literally turning it into a bloody mess.

The disfigured face reminds me of a fight i once had with a gang. My condition was not much different, although they used bats and crowbars.

{I don't need such handicaps, even to finish the job}.

With a feral roar, i impact my right elbow in the forehead of the «Mirror Me», effectively executing him, ending his life.

This causes an unexpected outcome. His bodysuit starts to merge with his skin, dissipating along his body, transforming the entire corpse in a sphere of bluish light that shots to the middle of my chest.

The ethereal glow is embedded, transmuting in a sort of rhombus, from which a pattern of scales extends across my body, making my skin to turn burgundy for the split of a second.

My nakedness is replaced in an instant, just like the environment, constraining itself, or so that is how i perceive it.

The darkness becomes heavier, suffocating, and tingling. Such immaterial pressure is switched, as if i were immersed in water.

{I'm really drowning!}.

Moving my arms and kicking fastly, i try to get out, reaching the surface of wherever i am.

An abrupt turmoil of foreign memories pass through my mind, all of them are too rushed to pay them the adequate attention, not to mention that my lungs are running out of oxygen.

I emerge, gasping for a breath of pure air, shaking my head and erratically trembling with the chilling breeze of cold wind hitting my soaked indigo hair.

Swimming to the edge of the pond, my sight is swayed from the forest ahead bathed with the milky moonlight.

{The lighting is strange}.

A glimpse up, turns in a shocking truth. There are two moons shining in the dark sky.

{I'm not longer in my world}.

It's an obvious conclusion, my planet has a single natural satellite, and it was fragmented during a well coordinated terrorist attack. The event caused large debris to rain from the skies, bringing unexpected earthquakes and tsunamis that devastated the entire orb.

The gushing wind is exasperating, lowering my temperature due to the water droplets rolling down my brand new scaled bodysuit.

The goosebump is annoying, my upsetness it's not diminishing, on the contrary, it provokes a surge of heat within me. Red light flashes from my silhouette, boiling immediately the remaining liquid.

The hot Steam rubs fleetingly against me, cleansing the dirt residues lingering from the pond's water.

Something that is unnecessary, because my natural lubrication is more effective in that field, appearing once more, and resuming with the healing of my injured eye.

{Weird. I am healing abnormally fast. Four, no, perhaps a minute an a half should be sufficient}.

Recalling some of the memories i just received. My steps wander through the grooves, the trees are not too different to what i am accustomed to, except their leaves shine, alerting me constantly, like if they were the laser pointers of many Sniper Rifles.

Following the path known by the «Mirror Me», my attention is dragged by a stone circular platform embedded in the earthly ground, and near it, two people are performing a sort of ritual.

The patterns in the platform ignite with blazing yellow and white light, both colours mixing together to create a golden hue that summons a fantastical creature.

A double headed gargantuan snake, both mouths sizzling their tongues out, agitating the rattle of their tail, hissing with a biting motion that sprouts a stream of venom from their large fangs.

The toxic fluid flies shortly, stopped by a golden ethereal translucent dome that is over the stone platform, fluctuating harshly, and losing the connection established in the ritual, sending the creature back to wherever it belonged…
