Chapter 26 - Dividing the loot

Morgan reached into her bag, quickly various things began to fill the room. The monster parts were left in the bag, but everything from magical ores and herbs to various papers and books was scattered around the room.

The group of players basically shopped around, looking for anything they could use. Raiden was successful, the blue glowing ore was just calling his name.

"I call dibs on this."

He quickly reached for the ore and shoved it in his pocket before anyone could argue. He looked around with a cool expression, almost checking if anyone had issues with his actions. Seeing the other players shrug it off, he breathed a sigh of relief before stepping away frol the loot. The rest wouldn't be of any use to him.

Ember also shopped around for anything useful but the books proved useless. As she finished looking at the pile of papers strewn about with a disappointed expression Jasmine came over.

"Hey, just to be fair I thought I'd share this with you. I found a book ok summoning in the dark mages lair. Are you interested?"

Ember turned to her as the light returned to her eyes.

"Summoning as in spirits? Because yes I would be interested."

Jasmine looked at her with an amiable smile, she was happy to have another friend. Especially one that was a girl.

"Great minds think alike. That's also what I wanted to get from it. Would you want to study it together sometime? I can also just make a copy for you if not."

"No need. Let's study together, it'll be fun."

Ember nodded at her idea, a smile formed on her face before she continued.

"When are you free? We can start now kf you want."

"Yeah let's get to it! I have the book rigbt here."

Jasmine pulled the grimoire out of her bag and sat next to Ember. The two began to diligently read it in hopes of triggering the skill learning system.

Back in the shopping area desmond was looking through the plants and herbs. A lot of these could be used to make some handy poisons. He looked at the table before looking up at the other players.

"Hey, quick question. Do you guys caee re if take sll these herbs with me? I can use them to make a pretty strong poison."

He had many bundles of various herbs in in his arms with an expectant look on his face.

"Are you gonna split some of the poison you make? If it's strong I could use it. I don't mind you taking it all if you share."

Ian turned to him with an equally expectant expression. Poison had proved to be an effective tool and Ian poanned to keep using it when necessary.

"Sure I'll give you some Ian."

Desmond turned his head to the others.

"What about you guys? Any issues with me taking this?"

Most lf the others didn't even turn to him. They clearly couldn't care less about some herbs that probably wouldn't go for much. Better he make it into something more useful like poison, that way theh can ask for some later.

Ian stood to the side with Morgan. They were honestly fune not taking something from the loot. The money they'd get from selling the leftovers and the monster parts was goood enough for them. The hidden quest's reward was still waiting for them after all.

Th stood next to Raiden, by the various ores. None of them were all that great. Nothing made from these would be better than his current sword. He quickly turned away from them before walking toward Ian.

"So how was the fight with the dark mage really? Was it fun?"

Morgan replied in light hearted voice before Ian could get any words out.

"It was great. I fell like five stories straight onto a lich before my kill got stolen by that druid."

"Five stories? That must have been a sight. Wish I was there."

Ty had an impressed look as he tried to imagine the scene.

"Speaking of fights, how was yours? Was that death knight strong?"

Ian turned to his friend.

"Oh it went great. The guy was tough, honestly stronger than me. I wouldn't have won without Raiden. The fight was fun though, his sword almost never shook. Truly a worthwhile opponent."

"Alright, let's pack things up. It looks like everyone is done looking around."

Morgan stepped forward and began putting everything left behind back into her bag. The others joined to help and the room quicly cleared up.

"Let's go see the lord. Things should be less hectic now that some time has passed."

Ian rounded up the group that took down Corvus. The ofhers took the leftover loot and left to go sell it while they claimed their reward for taking down the lich.

Walking up to the lords tent Ian turned to the guards at the front.

"Hey we're here for our reward. We killed the dark mage who caused this incident."

The two guards looked at each other before letting them pass. The group stepped forward and went into the tent without hesitation.

"Hello adventurers. I was awaiting your arrival. Thank you for ridding the world of that vile mage. You did this city a service."

"It was no problem. That guy had it coming."

Desmond spike with a serious expression.

"I assume you guys are here for your rewards. Let's not waste time. Follow me."

The lord wuicly stood up as her guard followed. The players quicly fell in line and followed after the lord. They walked past the devastaded western district into ghe core of the city. There the lord's castle came into view.

It wasn't the largest castle, byy it it was luxurious. Decorated and intricately carved pillars lined the halls and magic crystals were used to light up the inside. The lord guided them deeper and deeper into her estate before they reachdd her office. Wide oak doors stood in front of them and opened slowly as the lord approached.

The group of players stepped inside to sind a pretty notmal office. A desk sat infrong of some bookshelves with a fireplace and some coushes in the side of the room. Windows looked out into a beautiful garden fulled with flowers and exotic plants. A large painting sat opposite the campfire, on the left wall. A portrait of the lord and her young children smiling happily.

The lord strode straight up to the painting and without hesitation she stepped right through it. The players stood in awe as she disappeared through the painting. A hand shot out from the painting after a few seconds since no one followed.

"It's fune just follow me through. This is my private collection of artifacts."

The players quickly caught on and walked through the painting. On the other side lay a beautiful hallway with golden embellishments on the walls. It stretched forward for maybe fifteen feet before a golden door interrupted the way.

"Come follow me. Each of you get exactly one pick. Any artifact of your choice is yours."
