Chapter 205 - Chapter 205: Shock! Lu Yanchen's blunt confession to me

The sudden turn of events left me a bit bewildered. My mind was preoccupied with revenge, and I hadn't expected Lu Yanchen to ask me that.

"I..."

I honestly hadn't thought of him. I'd been accompanying my mother these past two days, constantly monitoring her emotions, and I didn't seem to have the energy to think about anything else.

"Okay, I know the answer. I'll have someone keep an eye on Jiang Zhi and Su Ning'an."

"Thank you for your help. By the way, Yanchen..." I suddenly remembered something.

"What? Tell me." His voice seemed to tinge with excitement and anticipation.

I said seriously, "You found a good servant. They're quick and efficient. I'm very satisfied."

Lu Yanchen's voice was a little low: "...Okay."

After hanging up the phone, I couldn't help but reflect on whether I had said something wrong.

Through reflection, I felt that my attitude had been too cold. After all, Lu Yanchen had always helped me unconditionally.

And I had simply demanded and accepted his kindness, without giving anything in return. He didn't even say thank you. It's normal for people to have complaints.

I sighed. I was negligent.

After my rebirth, I've been preoccupied with revenge, but haven't done a single thing for Lu Yanchen.

I took out my phone and typed a message.

[Are you free tonight after get off work? Can you come over for dinner?]

[Okay, when are you planning on coming home?]

I thought about it.

[Not sure, maybe it'll be a while. Mom's mood is a bit unstable.]

He didn't reply again. I didn't know if he was angry.

After a marriage, husbands don't usually like their wives visiting their parents' home so often, right?

I added.

[Actually, I'm quite satisfied with you as a husband.]

Thinking about him coming over tonight, a man like him who has everything he needs, the only thing I can do is cook him a meal.

In the afternoon, I worked in the kitchen with my new servant, Sister Zhang.

Whether Mom wants to abort the child or not, she needs to recuperate during this time. Because we were entertaining Lu Yanchen, tonight's meal was quite sumptuous.

We'd spent the entire afternoon preparing, and when the doorbell rang, it must be him.

"I'll go open it."

I walked out, wiping the water stains off my hands with my apron.

The moment I opened the door, a cold wind blew in, carrying snowflakes. Lu Yanchen was in a wheelchair, and behind him, besides Shen Ji, were two bodyguards, carrying several suitcases. I stepped aside to let him in, a look of surprise on my face. "This, this is..." Lu Yanchen replied calmly, "Someone who didn't know would think I'd bullied you. You're staying at your parents' house just a few days after your wedding." I felt a little guilty. "Sorry, I hadn't thought about that." "It's okay. I understand. So, to prevent gossip, I'm coming to stay with you. You can stay as long as you want." He looked at my mother as he said this. "Will mother-in-law mind?" My mother's eyes darted between us, a faint smile playing on her lips. "Of course not. It's nice to have a little more liveliness at home." As I spoke, Jiang Qing's voice came from the doorway. "Are there guests?" My mother rolled her eyes at him, ignoring him completely. He probably hadn't expected Lu Yanchen and me to be there, clutching a beautiful cake and jewelry bag.

Knowing my mother's temper, if this continued, even if he grew old and gray, she wouldn't initiate reconciliation.

And they wouldn't have lasted twenty years. Lu Yanchen took the initiative to dispel the eerie atmosphere: "Where's your room?"

"It's on the first floor, right here."

He and I entered the room. The bodyguard dropped off our luggage and left.

He closed the door, leaving the living room to my mother and Jiang Qing.

Lu Yanchen said gently, "My legs aren't very handy, so I'll just trouble you to sort out my clothes."

"It's okay, it's my job."

I unpacked his suitcases one by one. This guy had packed a lot of clothes; they wouldn't last a couple of days.

He was determined to stay with me permanently.

It was just him and me in the room. I squatted on the floor to sort out his clothes while Lu Yanchen reported to me:

"Did you say anything to Lu Shiyan? He's been shut up in his house these past few days, refusing treatment or food."

If Lu Shiyan hadn't guessed it, I wouldn't have revealed my rebirth, so I kept it to myself. "Who knows? He's already sick."

Lu Yanchen gave me a deep look and said meaningfully, "Really..."

I hung my clothes one by one in the closet. My clothes were all around me. Even when I was with Lu Shiyan, we never shared a closet.

It was like a masculine aura had entered my own territory, which was a bit unusual.

I casually brought up a topic. "How's Dad these past few days?"

"Yeah, same as always."

"How's Xiaobai?"

"He has a slight cold. He's been wandering around for so long, so he's in bad shape. He's getting shots at the pet store. It's best to pick him up in a few days."

I bent down to hang up his pants when a hand suddenly grabbed my wrist.

My body spun around, and I was pulled into his arms. He held my waist and lifted my chin.

"You even asked about Xiaobai, so why don't you ask me?"

Meeting his dark eyes, it felt like a deep, eerie well within, sucking me in. My heart raced. I licked my lips and said, somewhat bewilderedly, "How are you?"

"Not very."

My heart tightened. "Are you feeling unwell somewhere? The weather's been bad lately, with so little sun, it's easy to catch a cold. Didn't you ask Shen Ji to close the window at night?"

His thumb suddenly landed on my lips and rubbed them vigorously, silencing my voice.

"The root of my problems lies with you, Wanwan. I feel unwell without you."

I was stunned, unable to process his blunt confession.

"Yan..."

"My dear Wanwan, when will you realize that I really like you?"

My eyes widened, my words incoherent with fear, and I stammered, "You, you like me? Don't you like..."

Sister-in-law?

I didn't say this out loud, because it was just a guess.

My surprise seemed to please the man, and his sharp jawline softened.

The corners of his mouth curled slightly: "Do you want me to prove how much I like you?"

Proof? How would he prove it?

The next second, my lips softened, and Lu Yanchen grabbed the back of my head and kissed me.

His kiss was like a violent storm, fierce and urgent, as if it wanted to devour me.

"Wanwan, do you feel that?"

I sat on his firm thighs, feeling his warmth somewhere, my face flushing with embarrassment.

"Yan, Yanchen, why are you…"

He held me tighter. "Tonight, let me prove how much I love you, okay?"
