It's Lu Shiyan.
Why is he here? How long has he been here? What has he seen?
Lu Yanchen lost his temper last time and dismissed Lu Shiyan from all his positions. He's busy with his treatment, and his presence in the Lu family is minimal.
He didn't come today, and I thought it was because of his relationship with Su Ning'an.
But I'd forgotten that he used to watch the stars with me in the backyard.
In this snowy weather, he must be here to reminisce about my past.
I didn't expect him to catch me red-handed.
Before I could jump down, he snatched the notebook away.
Lu Shiyan stared at me, his intuition telling him that the notebook was important.
"Why would you go to Su Wan's room? This is Su Wan's stuff."
Sure enough, he saw it!
I thought about the rest of the Su family, so I let Lu Yanchen hold them off. I hadn't anticipated Lu Shiyan's arrival at the Su residence, and it was such a lucky coincidence that I ran into him.
I was frantically trying to figure out how to explain this, but Lu Shiyan suddenly opened the notebook.
"Give it to me!" My plan wasn't about to be revealed right then and there.
Just like Su Ning'an, man proposes, God disposes.
Lu Shiyan had already seen it, and he quickly knew what it was.
"It's Su Wan's diary. Why did you steal her things? How could you easily find something that even the police couldn't find?"
My heart was pounding, but I tried to appear calm.
"Su Wan told me. I fainted in front of her statue that day because I heard her voice."
Lu Shiyan didn't answer, as if trying to determine the truth of my words. I continued, "You might find this strange, but I definitely heard her voice. That's why I told Yanchen about her flesh and blood in the statue. Otherwise, how could the police have come to your bridal chamber?"
Lu Shiyan frowned, his eyes clearly searching. "You're not lying?"
"Why would I lie to you? If Su Wan hadn't told me, how do you think I could have gotten this diary? This diary might contain the cause of her death, so I came here secretly. You already know how the Su family treated her."
Knowing Lu Shiyan's softness, I began to brainwash him.
"If you truly love Su Wan, don't you want justice for her? Do you really think her death was an accident?"
Lu Shiyan's eyes flickered. "Do you suspect someone from the Su family killed her?"
I stared at him intently. Although I didn't want anything to do with him, things had come to this point.
Regarding Su Wan's situation, Lu Shiyan and I shared common interests. I could only feign enlistment. "Is that right? I believe you know it."
Besides the blind Su family, who were kept in the dark as if bewitched by Su Ning'an, even Lu Shiyan had long suspected it.
But like the police, they had no evidence.
"Lu Shiyan, perhaps the truth lies in this notebook. You should know whether to hand it over or not. If you alert the enemy and waste the information Su Wan risked her life for, then I can't do anything about it."
Lu Shiyan stared at me. "So what else did she say before she left? Did she..."
His voice trembled. "Did she mention me?"
And you? Did she mention the intricacies you and Su Ning'an had in bed?
I suppressed my grumble and shook my head. "Time was tight at the time, and I only heard a few things. You know what happened next. I fainted, and her statue shattered. She must have left this world for good."
Lu Shiyan was the only one who could see me before I disappeared. He believed what I said, even if others didn't. "Okay, I'll promise to keep it a secret for now, but in exchange, I want to know everything Su Wan said to you before she left!"
I frowned and had to agree. There was no third party involved, so whatever I said was just my own fabrication.
"I can tell you, but to prevent what happened before, your uncle must be present. Otherwise, I won't meet with you privately. If you don't agree, then forget it. Just pretend I never said anything. Su Wan and I don't have any relationship anyway, so it doesn't matter whether they investigate or not."
Lu Shiyan placed the small diary in the inner pocket of his coat and pressed it against his chest, as if he cared deeply about it.
I scoffed inwardly. If I didn't cherish it when I was alive, who would I pretend to be after I die?
"It's a pleasure to work with you, little aunt." He extended his hand towards me. I didn't reach out. "Lu Shiyan, Su Wan died tragically. Perhaps it's because we look alike that we connect. I hope to seek justice for her. So, we're not enemies, but partners."
"I understand your concerns."
I nodded. "I'll go in first, you can come in later."
"Okay."
I finally breathed a sigh of relief, finally calming Lu Shiyan down.
As I left, Xiaobai emerged from the corner again, and I lifted him into my arms.
"Little one, I won't abandon you this time."
"Wanwan, you're back..." Lu Shiyan stood in the distance, murmuring in a voice I couldn't hear.
