Chapter 161 - Chapter 161: I'll never let her get away with it!

How could I not know? I was practically there with a camera witnessing the entire process!

I even knew exactly how long it took.

I'd already prepared my story.

"You and Su Ning'an chose Su Wan's wedding night to do it. You'd definitely go all out. I'd bet you were in your new bed in your new house, right?"

My question left Lu Shiyan speechless. After all, that night had been a secret to begin with.

If it weren't for the timing of Su Ning'an's pregnancy, no one would have known about it!

Lu Shiyan's expression grew increasingly grim, and I continued to lightly stab him.

"You've already done it, are you still afraid of what people will say? It's normal for a man to have a few women out there. I understand."

Seeing my nonchalant expression, Lu Shiyan glared at me coldly. "What if it were your man?"

"I'd break his legs!" I said, my expression restrained, my words stern. I'd been trying to catch him and Su Ning'an having an affair, but they certainly didn't actually have sex before their wedding night.

I witnessed it all with my own eyes after my death.

Lu Shiyan's betrayal doomed me to never easily fall in love with or trust another man again. I'd even forgotten about my marriage.

Unexpectedly, the man practicing calligraphy nearby made a noise. He cast a deep, somber gaze at me, "My leg is broken, so don't worry, I won't betray you."

By the time I finished speaking, my face flushed with shame. "Yanchen, I didn't say what you meant. I just..."

It was just a joke.

For a moment, I'd forgotten that I was, on paper, a married woman. "Okay, Xiao Lu, dwelling on the past is useless. You and Su Ning'an have separated. She's getting married, and you're also getting married. Your relationship with her is a fait accompli. The most urgent thing is to choose a wedding house for you and wait for Miss Fu to marry."

I deliberately reminded him that he and Su Ning'an would forever be nailed to the pillar of shame. He couldn't even think of playing the affectionate hero and using Su Wan as a shield. "Since the Lu family is now headed by my aunt, I'll just follow your instructions."

"That won't do. After all, the future is yours for the two of you. Your uncle and I have chosen these for you. Which one do you like?"

I handed over the pre-printed housing information, and Lu Shiyan pointed to one at random. "This one's the one. After all, I'm not marrying Su Wan, so it doesn't matter where I live."

He stood up, shoving one hand in his pocket. "I'll be starting treatment tomorrow. From now on, I'll have to rely on my aunt to take care of the Lu family's affairs."

He said this with a scornful smile, and then turned and left.

I stared at his retreating figure, feeling a vague sense of unease.

Lu Shiyan seemed to have changed.

After he left, Lu Yanchen spoke calmly, "I won't cheat. Ever."

I was stunned for a moment before realizing he was still continuing the previous topic. "Yes, Little Lu doesn't seem quite satisfied..."

"He's been spoiled since he was little, so don't worry about it. It's getting late, and you've worked hard today. Let's go back to our room and rest."

We.

For some reason, my face felt hot. These words made us feel like a real couple.

I pushed him back to the room and went to wash up. When I came out, I found the incense in the room had already been lit.

Curious, I asked him, "Yanchen, do you like incense?"

"This kind of incense helps you sleep and calms your mind. What? You don't like the smell?" He stared into my eyes.

I shook my head. "No, it smells good. I'll go to bed first."

"Okay, good night."

As the year draws to a close, there are already many things to deal with in a large family, and now there's Lu Shiyan's marriage. For the first time, I felt the powerlessness of being an elder.

Smelling the faint aroma of incense, I quickly fell asleep. As I drifted off to sleep, I seemed to hear someone whispering in my ear, almost in a yearning voice, "Wanwan, please love me..."

Who was it?

The voice sounded so familiar. I should have been conscious, but I couldn't open my eyelids, and my mind was even more hazy.

I felt as if my body was floating in the clouds, without any sense of reality.

It felt like someone was gently caressing my cheek, staring at me for a long, long time, until I completely lost consciousness.

The next morning, I was awakened by two little squirrels on the terrace.

The old house was lush with vegetation, and therefore teemed with wildlife.

I stretched lazily, feeling a headache as I thought about the many things I had to deal with today.

Being Mrs. Lu wasn't an easy job.

I found the little squirrels adorable and grabbed some nuts from the plate and tossed them out. The two little squirrels hurriedly stuffed them into their mouths. It was a delightful sight. "Awake?" I was startled by Lu Yanchen's voice behind me.

"Yanchen, don't you have to go to the office?"

Normally, he should be very busy, especially with the end of the year approaching.

"I've hired a professional manager to run the company. Don't worry, I just want to take a break."

I see. I've heard my uncle is a workaholic before. After all these years of hard work, it's normal for him to want to rest.

"You like animals?" He looked at the squirrel outside the balcony.

I smiled. "I'm just sitting around doing nothing."

"We can get one after we move out. Do you like cats?"

My eyes lit up. "I like stuffed dolls."

"Okay, let's get two." Lu Yanchen was so easygoing.

"Um...wouldn't that be a hassle? Stuffed dolls have a bad stomach and shed easily. By the way, are you allergic to cat fur?"

"It's okay. If you want to keep one, keep one."

I thought of the two stray cats I found in college. I felt sorry for them and wanted to take them home. Lu Shiyan, allergic to cat fur, refused, saying there were so many stray cats out there, how could we rescue them all? I had no choice but to bring the kitten back to the Su family's house and set up a small nest in the yard.

One day, when I returned home, the kitten had disappeared. Su's father had lost money on a business deal, and he thought my bringing the kitten home had affected the feng shui, so he had the servants throw it out.

I searched from day to night. It was winter, and snow was falling heavily. I was shivering with cold.

I happened to run into Lu Yanchen, who let me into his car for warmth.

Not long after, the kitten was found by his bodyguard. He accompanied me through a physical exam before taking it to a shelter.

Come to think of it, my uncle and I had interacted a long time ago.

It's just that I was too afraid of him. He was only a few years older than me at the time, and in my eyes, he was like an elder. I didn't dare approach him easily, not even to look him in the eye.

"What are you thinking?" he asked, leaning closer. I shook my head. "Nothing, just some past events. Ah, I have so much to deal with today, I don't have time to chat with you."

With a doleful look on my face, I went to the bathroom to wash up. Not long after, the housekeeper arrived with the maid, who had worked for us for many years, to help me with the housework.

While I was busy for a few days, he stayed by my side, providing just the right amount of support in every area.

I became increasingly dependent on Lu Yanchen until he brought me a piece of news.

"There's an art exhibition in a few days. Are you going?"

Art exhibition?

I was so busy I lost track of the world outside. "Huh?"

"Su Ning'an is also going to bring his work."

It then occurred to me that after my death, Su Ning'an had taken all the paintings from my basement and used them as my name, causing my corpse to be scourged and insulted.

I must avenge this!

Lu Yanchen added calmly, "I heard she's been trying to curry favor with the Fu family lately, probably hoping her life would be easier if she married into their family."

I knew I shouldn't underestimate her. That woman is very capable in her dealings with others.

If she shines at the art exhibition, it will bring honor to the Fu family and give me more confidence to marry into their family.

But, is she worthy of using my hard work to support her future?

How could such a good thing happen?

Su Ning'an, you took my things, now you should spit them out.

There's no way she can turn things around. I'll never give her a chance in this lifetime!

[The next big scene is about to begin. Stay tuned. Please give me your praise and support~]
