Chapter 139 - Chapter 139 Wanwan, My Wanwan

The next day, I slept until noon, my head still reeling from a hangover.

It was ridiculous to think about it; I was already down after just three glasses of red wine.

You know, in the past, I could easily handle three glasses of white wine, not just red wine. At most, I'd just have a stomachache, not get this drunk.

What happened next?

I saw myself sleeping on the bed in the adjacent room. There didn't seem to be any signs of mess. I figured my drinking was okay, so I wouldn't do anything embarrassing.

I hadn't woken up naturally since I woke up naturally.

After my rebirth, I seemed to have cured my insomnia, and I could sleep peacefully without medication.

Yawning, I went to the bathroom to wash up. Looking in the mirror, I noticed my lips were slightly red and swollen.

Strange, did I suck on the bottle last night?

Thankfully, there were no marks anywhere else on my body, so I didn't take it seriously. As I left, I found Lu Yanchen sitting by the window, looking at his tablet, probably checking emails or something.

When he saw me come out, his eyes fell on my face. "Are you feeling unwell?"

I smiled sweetly at him. "My head hurts a bit, Mr. Lu. I didn't say anything strange last night, did I?"

His gaze fell on my lips, pausing for a moment before he replied calmly, "No."

I finally breathed a sigh of relief. "I've always been a good drinker."

"Yes, I'm quite good," Lu Yanchen replied without even looking up.

His head was lowered, so I couldn't see his face clearly, but I felt like there was something else going on.

"Come and see if there's the person you're looking for."

I hurried over. Lu Yanchen was incredibly efficient.

In such a short time, he'd gathered the personnel information for every auto repair shop in the city.

I scrolled through the photos one by one. Even if I didn't know what they looked like, I'd never forget those eyes!

No, still no!

I scrolled faster and faster, and Lu Yanchen reminded me, "Don't rush, take your time."

I wanted to find that man more than anyone else. If I could find him, I'd have evidence that Su Ning'an had hired someone to commit murder.

But when I scrolled to the last page, I still couldn't find him.

Lu Yanchen saw my disappointment and guessed the answer. "Isn't he the one you're looking for?"

"No."

Before Huang Ying died, she only said one thing: she'd seen that man at the auto repair shop.

Could he not be a clerk or a worker? Or a customer?

If that were the case, it would be like finding a needle in a haystack—too difficult.

"Mr. Lu, could you help me check Su Ning'an's car maintenance records, or any other auto repair shop she'd had it serviced at?"

"Okay, no problem."

If I couldn't find that man, I'd have to start with Su Ning'an.

I saw my body in a basement.

If it really was an auto repair shop, the crime scene might be right below it.

If we found the crime scene, we'd definitely find evidence!

Seeing my dejected expression, Lu Yanchen offered some words of comfort: "Don't worry, take your time. You must be hungry, right? Eat something first."

"Yes."

"I'll investigate Su Ning'an thoroughly. Don't worry," he reassured me.

I nodded. No one knew about my rebirth yet, so I had plenty of time.

There was no need to rush. The most important thing right now was to get the dinner off the ground.

"Mr. Lu, I'm new to the Lu family and don't know much about it. I'll need your guidance on the dinner."

"We're husband and wife. There's no need to be so polite. I've already asked Ah Ji to handle security, procurement, and invitations. You can trust him."

"Mr. Lu, thank you."

He hooked his finger at me, and I reached toward him. Lu Yanchen's hand fell on my head and rubbed it. "I just said, don't be polite, and don't call me Mr. Lu in private anymore."

I blinked. "Then what should I call you?"

He stared at me intently. "Whatever you called me in public before, call me that in private."

"Yanchen... isn't that too offensive?"

I don't know if it was my imagination, but that wasn't the name he had in mind.

"No, then I'll call you Wanwan."

"Okay."

I stood up. "Then I'll go downstairs and prepare the dinner."

"Go ahead."

To organize such a grand dinner, with all the guests being prominent, I had to do everything myself, from the wine to the venue layout to the dishes served that day. These past two days have been incredibly busy.

I usually go back to my room, shower, and fall into bed, and I sleep soundly, even though I've taken sleeping pills.

But in the middle of the night, I always feel a surge of warmth around me.

My body temperature is on the cool side, and even though the room is always around 20 degrees Celsius, my hands and feet still feel cold in the middle of the night. I instinctively leaned towards the source of heat.

In my dream, I felt two thin, soft pieces of warmth touch my lips.

I don't know what it was, clinging to my mouth, but I didn't seem to reject it.

The warmth flowed from my lips to my ear, then along my neck, slowly licking it bit by bit.

I seemed to hear a long-lost call: "Wanwan, my Wanwan, you're finally back..."

Whose voice was it? It was so familiar.

I wanted to open my eyes, but my eyelids felt like they weighed a thousand pounds.

It was like being paralyzed by a ghost, with some awareness, but not much.

Slowly, my body began to heat up. All night long, I was embraced by that warm warmth.

When I woke up late, the incense in the room had burned out. I assumed it was a man's habit and didn't think much of it.

The scent was actually quite pleasant.

Dinner was tonight, and I was full of energy. Seeing Lu Yanchen, I greeted him sweetly. "Good morning."

Lu Yanchen's eyes fell on my face. "Did you sleep well last night?"

"Fine, but I had a strange dream."

He tapped his fingers on the armrest, his voice a little low. "Oh, what did you dream about?"

I thought for a moment. "Actually, I can't remember exactly. It felt like I was eating something. Maybe I was hungry because I didn't eat enough last night."

A hint of meaning crossed the man's eyes that I couldn't decipher. "Then eat more at night, and eat more."

"Okay."

"By the way, I'll try on some clothes. Don't make any mistakes tonight."

"Okay."

I chose a crescent-white cheongsam. It was beautifully tailored, and the patterns and embroidery were so elaborate that you had to look closely to see the exquisite workmanship.

The dress was practically tailored for me, with not a single gap.

Then the invisible zipper on the back wouldn't close because it was so tight.

"What's wrong? It's not ready yet?" the man urged from outside. "Yanchen, I can't zip up my trousers. Have someone come in and do it for me."

The next second, he wheeled in. "Come here, I'll zip it for you."

I pursed my lips. Although I was wearing bralettes, so there wouldn't be any trace of underwear on the back, wouldn't that expose my entire back?

"I..."

The man forcefully pulled me onto his lap. One hand wrapped around my waist, securing me in place, while the other fumbled with the zipper.

"I told you not to be polite with me."

Perhaps because we were so close, his hot breath fell on my back, causing my tense body to tremble slightly.

His lips dropped to the back of my ear and he whispered, "So sensitive?"
