Chapter 107 - Chapter 107: Going to the Lu Family to Watch a Grand Spectacle

After Grandma heard my words, her eyes widened. Her pupils dilated, staring at me with disbelief, clearly trying to ascertain whether I was human or ghost.

I gave her a meaningful look. "Grandma, I've been reborn in someone else's body. I'm human."

Then I placed a finger on my lips, making a 'shush' gesture to Grandma. "This is our secret."

Three sentences were enough. Grandma was an intelligent person; how could she not know my greatest wish was for revenge?

Although it wasn't very clear how I had been reborn, my existence as a spirit itself was unscientific. Now that I was standing here perfectly fine, Grandma couldn't bother with the illogical aspects.

Existence is logical.

The important thing was that her dear granddaughter was still alive. Nothing else mattered.

Grandma's eyes reddened, and she blinked at me.

Overcome with emotion, she couldn't avoid shedding tears.

Mom Wang, coming over with the fruit, saw this scene and hurriedly said, "Oh dear, Old Madam, what's wrong?"

I explained, "Perhaps she was reminded of her own granddaughter when she saw me."

Mom Wang was pure-hearted and simple-minded, not one for overthinking.

I took a tissue and gently wiped Grandma's tears. "Grandma, your granddaughter will surely be fine. Don't worry."

As I spoke, I squeezed her hand, letting her feel my body temperature.

Grandma was extremely agitated. I patiently soothed her, "You need to rest well and get better soon."

She blinked at me, as if responding.

"It's getting late, Grandma. You should rest early."

Mom Wang saw me to the door. "Miss, if you have free time, please visit the Old Madam more often. It might help her condition."

"Okay."

That suited my plans perfectly.

After leaving Grandma's room, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. Now, I had no more worries.

Tonight, the Lu and Su families were surely in for a spectacular show.

And I, nestled in Xu Lan's arms, slept the first sound sleep I'd had in two years.

Because starting today, I was the one operating from the shadows!

After a full night's sleep, my complexion looked much better the next day, finally losing that sickly pallor.

Mom had prepared a delicate and delicious breakfast early. Seeing me awake, she said gently, "I saw you were still asleep and didn't wake you. I made this myself. It's all for nourishing your blood and health."

I wrapped my arms around Xu Lan's waist, acting spoiled. "Thank you, Mom. You're the best."

Xu Lan stared at my face for a moment, then smiled. "Eat quickly before it gets cold."

"Mm."

In a good mood, my appetite was great, and I ate heartily. Mom watched me tenderly.

"Mom, you eat too."

"Okay."

A morning undisturbed by that scumbag man was so peaceful.

I had to put the Jiang family matters aside for now because I had more important things to do.

"Mom, I'm going back to the Lu family first."

Xu Lan looked at me with concern. "That Lu family isn't a good place, Wanwan. Mom knows you did it out of spite. You had just slit your wrist then; I was afraid of upsetting you, so I didn't object. I think that Mr. Lu seems reasonable. Marriage is a lifelong matter. If you've come to your senses now, Mom will even swallow her pride to cancel this marriage for you."

I met Mom's determined gaze. Clearly, she was a timid person, but for me, she would risk everything.

I proactively hugged Xu Lan and told her, "Mom, thank you for loving me. I wasn't speaking out of anger then. Lu Yanchen is mature, steady, and not a womanizer. That alone makes him better than ninety-nine percent of the men in this world."

"But his legs..."

"I don't mind. Even if he never stands up again, I'm willing to marry him."

This time, if he hadn't believed my words, my death wouldn't have been exposed so quickly. He helped me again. To me, it's a huge favor I must repay.

"You're really determined?"

"Yes."

Mom sighed. "Fine. Mr. Lu doesn't seem like the type to bully you. Go and try it. If you're not satisfied, Mom will definitely help you."

"Okay, I love you the most, Mom."

I obediently nuzzled her cheek, then had the driver take me to the Lu family.

How could I miss this grand spectacle?

But my current identity was Lu Yanchen's wife, so it wasn't convenient for me to go watch Lu Shiyan's disgrace.

So, I went to find Lu Yanchen first.

The servants already knew my identity and didn't stop me.

Shen Ji blocked me at the door. "Miss Jiang, Mr. Lu is not available to see guests right now."

I smiled lightly. "Guests? But I'm his wife, not a guest."

I brushed aside Shen Ji's hand. He studied me for a moment before relenting.

"Alright."

I pushed open the suite door. The room's curtains were drawn tightly, only a sliver of daylight filtering in.

The floor was littered with wine bottles, the rich aroma of alcohol lingering in the air.

Seeing the desolate figure in the wheelchair, I walked step by step towards him.

The man who always had a cold, imposing aura now sat there dejected, as if the life had been drained from him.

"You..." I had just started to speak when he looked towards me.

I stood in the light. Lu Yanchen's haggard face instantly gained some vitality. He looked at me incredulously, his voice hoarse. "You... you came back..."

I nodded at him. "Yes, I'm back."

I was still thinking about how to explain my strange actions from before. I moved the wine bottles aside as I walked. "Why did you drink so much?"

Before I could react, a dark shadow suddenly lunged at me. I couldn't withstand such force. He was, after all, an adult man, very tall, and he fell on me like a small mountain.

"Ah..." I cried out in surprise, my body falling to the ground.

Simultaneously, the man fell on top of me, holding my waist tightly as if he wanted to crush me into his very bones.

The man's scorching breath fanned against my neck, his voice choked. "Thank goodness... thank goodness you came back."
