Chapter 2 - Survival

Survival meant escaping the hell they were facing. Amanda knew that she had to escape, somehow, this hellhole she wouldn't die in it.

The smell of blood grew stronger, heavier Payne's footsteps became thudding sounds of warning alarms. Amanda dared not to flinch as she hid with the other woman.

"Amanda this is not what I signed up for i domt want to die. I'm too young for that!", the woman cried.

"If death is something you don't seek then you better shut up because he's here", Amanda quickly responded as they both kept quiet after the door creeked, slowly, every passing second was suffocating.

He was here, present and they could feel it. The woman was shivering and shaking, trembling and she held onto Amanda tightly, squeezing the blood out of her arm. Amanda who seemed to be calm as she slipped away behind the pillar as she navigated her way around the dimmly lit room.

Even though the room was not lit well Amanda knew it really well, she could draw it for you. From under the bed where they were hiding they could see a barrel filled with nothing but clothes. In the middle of the room stood a pillar, tall and strong it never fell even when the strongest men tried to break it, it stood firm, strong and alone. The floor was squeaky clean, to the point whereby you could eat off it. There was one little window at the very end of the room, tightly sealed so that birds wouldn't fly in. However now this little bird was trapped and it needed to escape along with its friend. That was all there was to this room no hiding place, just bare and empty. Payne would definitely find them. Payne saw the swift movement and carefully approached the pillar,Amanda's heart beat loud in her ears as Payne's footsteps got louder and louder and, "Got you!",Payne said happily, his face lighting up at the thought of being able to take his sister-in-law back home. However it seemed as though there was no one there..

Amanda had already escaped, she ran and ran but she knew she couldn't run forever.

The dead animals everywhere it was a horrific site, bloodied walls, floors, and furniture. Amanda knew the maze of the house well however now it seemed as though it was never ending.

Payne was hot on her tail.

She had to escape,

she had to get this monster away from her friend, and so she ran her footsteps getting quicker, her legs numb, Payne getting nearer, and nearer.

'Why is it so quiet in here', the lady thought.

She quietly got up from under the bed and looked around. The door was wide open as the gush of bloody stench engulfed the room. The lady looked around the room, carefully. She didn't pay attention to the bloody smell, she didn't care, all she wanted was to see if Amanda was safe.

Panic set in her as she saw Amanda was nowhere to be seen.

She had passed out because of shock that over came her when Payne had entered the room and looking outside the window it seemed as though a few hours had passed.

"Amanda!", she screamed, the horror quite evident on her face. She didn't care about what would happen to her, she wanted to find Amanda, alive or dead she had to find her.

 .....

Amanda ran for her life, the baby was at risk, she was at risk, her friend...

She loved Ethan but she had to get away from home because Payne would have never let her live. It would have taken only a matter of seconds for him to snap her neck like a chicken and proceed to kill his own blood and brother, Ethan.

She didn't mean to have a baby with Payne but she could never tell him that the baby was his.Ethan would be heartbroken and she would be Payne's tool, a doll only meant to be giving birth to children of a psychopath she never intentionally slept with. It was one time, her marriage with Ethan was a bit shaky. She remembers clearly the night of their third fight in the same month.Amanda was sick of it,it hurt her.

As she ran for her life she could hear Ethan's insults on how she was barren and how could never bare children for him no matter how much she tried. At that very moment Amanda felt the world crumble before her, she loved Ethan and she knew how much she'd do anything for him, anything but she never thought that one day he'd insult her just because she couldn't give him children.

That very night she went to the balcony to get some air, wine glass on one hand and a silky silver gown wrapped in her brown skin like a ribbon on a present. Her skin shimmering gold under the moonlight.A heavy sigh escaped her lips and she looked up to the moon,as she thought about how beautiful it was,she was once like that but marriage had worn her down. Under the wrinkled skin one could make out an elegant lady filled with life, prestige and love.

Payne, who had heard the two quarrel with each other, approached the beautiful Amanda at the balcony. He asked about her distress. He could see it, the dark eye bags and Moon staring sessions, he was all to familiar with it.Payne hated to see his brother argue with his sister-in-law, he thought she deserved more.

More respect, love, care and compassion,he would give her more however he could never say that out loud. So he approached her, steadily, carefully.

"You look like shit",he remarked as he approached her. Amanda turned to see who had found her secret Moon staring spot and as she turned she saw this figure, beautiful masculine. Payne was wearing a white shirt his body visible under the moonlight. Something about the way his hair was wet made Amanda's body shiver, the man had grey sweat pants on and a pair of slippers that were way too small for his feet.

"Aren't those mine?",Amanda replied after the stopper she had.She didn't know if it was the alcohol or did this once simple man with dark hair and blue eyes turn soo hot.

Shaking off the thoughts she asked the smirking Payne the same question she asked this time more seriously,"Aren't those mine?",she asked as she pointed at the slippers Payne was wearing.

"Yeah, found them in the bathroom, you don't say your feet are quite not anywhere close to my size",Payne remarked mockingly as he looked at Amanda's beautifully painted feet.

"They are beautiful though",seeing the confusion on Amanda's face Payne continued,"your feet I mean".

"Weird, but thank you and yeah I don't look like shit".

Payne got closer to her,his hair shining under the shimmering moonlight as he stared at her amber gold eyes.

"Yes,you don't,you never did",Payne replied as his hand touched her cheek, carefully caressing it as though it was a precious delicate artifact.
