Chapter 18 - THE WORDS THAT CAME ALIVE

The next morning, Han Eun-bi woke up feeling unusually motivated. She stared at the scroll on her desk — the blank one that had mysteriously appeared the night before.

"Alright, magical world," she muttered, "if you really change according to what I write… let's test some Joseon science."

She dipped the brush in ink and began writing carefully.

'Today, everyone in the Kang household will feel happier and smile.'

Eun-bi grinned proudly. "See? Nothing dangerous. Just a little positive energy."

Five minutes later—

"AAAAAAAAHH!!"A scream echoed from the kitchen.

Mi-sun burst out the door, clutching a kettle and laughing hysterically."Ha-ha-ha! I don't know why but I feel so happy today! Even boiling water feels romantic!"

"Wait—what?!" Eun-bi froze.

Soon, other servants started laughing too.One of the guards hugged a wooden pillar, crying. "I… I just realized this pillar has always been there for me!"

Eun-bi slapped her forehead. "Okay, maybe I wrote too much happiness."

Jun-yeol stepped out of his study, face a perfect mix of confusion and exhaustion."Eun-bi," he said flatly, "what did you do this morning?"

"Eh? What do you mean, Tuan—uh, Master?""Everyone's been laughing since sunrise. The head maid complimented a chicken for having 'great self-confidence'."

Eun-bi gulped. "Uh… positive vibes?"

"Positive vibes don't make cats dance by the well," he replied calmly.

Eun-bi turned her head — and sure enough, a cat was standing on its hind legs, tail swishing like a professional performer.

"Oh no no no no…" she whispered. "I just wanted a small test, not a musical number."

Jun-yeol's eyes narrowed. "What are you hiding?"

"M-me? Nothing! I'm just a harmless servant with… natural charm!"

"Charm doesn't turn this house into a honey-drunk festival," he said sharply.

He stepped closer, eyes locked on hers. "You show up every time something strange happens. Explain."

Eun-bi backed away slowly. "Okay, fine, but promise you won't freak out…"

"Speak.""I just… wrote something… and the world kind of… took it too seriously."

He blinked. "You wrote something?"

"Yeah, but—"

A sudden breeze blew in from the window. The scroll on Eun-bi's desk fluttered into the air and landed right at Jun-yeol's feet.He picked it up and read aloud:

'Today, everyone in the Kang household will feel happier and smile.'

He stared at the paper. Then at her."So… you caused all this chaos."

Eun-bi clasped her hands together. "I can explain!"

"Then explain quickly before that chicken starts giving a motivational speech."

Eun-bi glanced outside—Sure enough, the chicken was standing on a rock, surrounded by servants who looked deeply inspired.

"Oh no… the universe really has no boundaries here," she groaned.

Jun-yeol sighed, rubbing his temple. "How can mere words make reality change?"

"I don't know either!" she said frantically. "But if I can rewrite little things… maybe I can fix bigger ones too."

"Bigger ones?""I mean—uh—life things. In general. Totally normal stuff."

He stared at her, expression unreadable. "You're like a riddle that forgot its own question."

Eun-bi grinned. "But I'm a fun riddle, right?"

Jun-yeol almost smiled — almost. "Fun isn't the word I'd use. More like… troublesome."

"Well, at least I bring color to your life."

He exhaled, shaking his head. "I still can't tell if you're a blessing or a disaster."

"Both," she muttered, "depending on the editor."

"What?""Uh—I said depending on… the weather!"

That evening, when the house finally calmed down (and the cat stopped dancing), Eun-bi sat at her desk again, staring at the scroll.

"If one sentence can turn Joseon upside down, I'd better be careful," she whispered.

She wrote slowly:

'Everything returns to normal.'

The air shimmered faintly. The laughter faded. The house went quiet again.

Eun-bi sighed in relief. "Finally. Fixed."

But then—New ink appeared beneath her words, written by an invisible hand.

'But normal things never last for long.'

Eun-bi's eyes widened. "Okay. Nope. This is not fanfiction anymore. This is haunted literature."

Outside, the sky darkened. Rain began to fall again. And from the veranda, Jun-yeol stood silently, watching her — as if he'd started to realize there was far more to this strange, smiling servant than he had ever imagined.
