After everyone had received their grimoires the families and orphans started leaving the tower. They had gotten what they came for. Now they could go practice their respective magic.
The only ones that were left were Asta, Yuno, and Jack.
"How can this happen? I've put so much work into my goal of becoming the Wizard King. But now it's gone." Asta sounded very sure that his hard work would help him reach his shared goal with Yuno and Jack. But in the end his spirit was crushed.
Yuno didn't say anything to help Asta through his depression. He was still shocked about the shocking information they had all received today.
'How could there have been a Wizard King who didn't have mana?'
"Hey Asta. Stop being so down. Just because you don't have magic, or a grimoire, doesn't mean you can't become the Wizard King. You heard what the tower master said. So quit being a baby. You can still take the entrance exam. Prove to the world that you don't need magic to save people." Jack had to help Asta see the bright side.
"Plus, I'm pretty sure that there is an anti-magic grimoire out there somewhere. It will probably come to you sooner than you..." but before Jack could finish that sentence a dark blackish red light erupted in front of Asta.
The three of them couldn't believe what they were seeing. A thick black grimoire materialized within the light.
But what caught Jack's attention the most was the five leaf clover on the front cover of the book. He knew what that meant. There was a devil in the grimoire. Liebe if he remembered right. The anti-magic devil who hates other devils.
"Asta, take care of him. He's a good friend to have around. The guy might have anger management issues, but he's just as innocent as you are," Jack said with a mixture of amusement, seriousness, and fondness.
"HUH?!" Asta and Yuno exclaimed in shock and confusion.
"Haha! I ran into the guy before. The person I'm talking about is a devil named Liebe inside that grimoire. If anything you two are more like brothers. Liebe knew your mom for a short while. She actually kind of adopted him. If you want more info you'll have to talk to him." Now Jack didn't have to worry about Asta anymore.
In the anime the grimoire appeared when Yuno was captured by an ex-magic knight. But since the guy didn't exist in this timeless, due to Jack being here, it ended up a different way. Which is good because the guy in the anime was annoying.
