The crowd shouted in surprise, Aamon's blood and guts caked the market stall behind the slash, which conveniently I was the only one standing there. The hot, sticky red blood splattered on me, his intestines landing a few feet from me. I've seen gross things before, but never someone being torn open from the inside. I should be glad that no organs landed on me.
Baelor looked at his torn up brother in shock, the last thing he expected out of the skeleton was this.
The skeleton quickly tore out his sword out of Aamon's body, before looking at the crowd.
Skeleton stabbed his sword into the ground, snapped it in half, and addressed everyone gawking at him.
"Does anyone else want to get on my bad side?"
The crowd instantly went into whispers and muttering.
"Oh no," I think I left the stove on, got to go.
"I... um.. I have to go pick up my kids from... school!"
The lame excuses seemed to amuse the skeleton as people started to back away and hurry out of the market place. Several of Orchems thugs started over to the Skeleton.
"What's your name, corpse?"
Corpse was an offensive name for undead demons, it was based off the S rank demon Corpse, who has the power to raise the undead.
The skeleton looked at them, before drawing his sword, only to realize he broke it.
The thugs started to beat the skeleton with their swords and hammers, the skeleton collapsed to the ground.
Baelor looked at his dead brother, then at Azura who fainted. And then at me.
'Of course he will blame me for his brothers death.' I thought as Baelor ran at me. He and his brother were always bullies to me.
As I braced for him to punch me I noticed something. He dropped his lead pipe. Rather odd for a bully to drop his weapon. Maybe he had peaceful intentions.
I dropped my guard as he reached me, panting. He looked at the string of intestines on the ground, and then at me. Caked in his brother's blood. He dropped to his knees, grabbed my legs, and started to cry.
I was in utter shock. Baelor, one of the toughest boys I knew? Crying? I crouched down and cautiously hugged him back.
"Um... I'm sorry for your loss..." I tried to tell him but he interrupted me.
"We have to leave this place." He had a scared look in his eyes.
"We? Since when?"
"Orchem is terrifying. He told me and my brother to go bully Azura in the marketplace... told us he would make us rich and powerful. We thought it was just a way to make money! But I heard some guards saying about what they would do when Orchem became an S rank demon! I think Azura may be related to a powerful demon that he is trying to draw out, kill, and level up to the point where he can challenge an S rank demon." He was very terrified, his voice picking up but quitting down when he saw a thug walk by.
"A fight between Orchem and another demon would most likely be devastating to the town." I noted "But why ask me to flee and no one else.
He looked very flustered and embarrassed.
"Well... you are the only person in this place that I know! And I can't go alone. I'll die! Since your father was Volo, I thought you might follow in his footsteps. And I know you were planning to leave town today, Elder Who told me."
"What! The old man snitched."
"Well, he forgets everything anyways so he told me it."
I sighed. Going out of the village alone would be hard, bringing this guy with me might be a mistake, but if I get injured or need help...
"Can you do anything cool or useful?"
"Well, I've been learning how to cook lately."
"Great, lets get out of here."
As I stood up and helped him up, a large yellow, acidic blob oozed into the marketplace. Orchem, Cannibalistic Blob.
I gasped, I saw him briefly before, but not at this size. He was the size of a shed!
The thugs immediately stopped beating the skeleton, which amazingly was still intact, and stood at attention.
"Lord Orchem! We followed the plan! But the girl's father did not reveal himself! This skeleton tried to stop us and we were giving him a lesson SIR!"
Orchem let out a growl. One of the psudopods attached to him leapt out and consumed the thugs. No one let out a noise.
"Why does he want Azura's father?" I whispered to Baelor.
"He's the powerful demon, duh." He whispered back.
The skeleton rose, surprisingly unharmed, and addressed Orchem.
"Hello! Orchem blob of something."
Orchem snarled, approached the skeleton, and addressed him back.
"It's Orchem, Cannibalistic Blob to you, D rank. Address me with proper etiquette or I will kill you."
The skeleton chuckled, threw back his arm, and then laughed. A fiery red cape appeared around him as fire enveloped his body.
