Chapter 128 - Chapter 129 Angel with Several Wings

Chapter 129 Angel with Several Wings

"Ouch..." Eric rubbed his side with a scowl. "You didn't have to hit me that hard."

"Hmph, you're lucky I didn't shoot you. Got a problem with that?"

The three of them, having finished shopping, were now eating at a restaurant. Besides the eyepatch, they had also bought a pitch-black gothic lolita dress from a clothing store. Eric knew Kurumi's tastes very well.

"Sigh, no studying, no work, traveling every day—this kind of life is really great." Eric cut into his steak with a knife and fork, suddenly voicing his thoughts. In his previous life, he never imagined he could live so carefree.

Akame offered a straightforward suggestion: "If you want to study, Chiron and Da Vinci definitely have a lot of knowledge to teach you."

"...", Eric suddenly recalled the hellish tutoring sessions he endured on Skypiea. His straightened back slumped again. "N-no thanks."

At that moment, Kurumi silently reached into the gift bag and gently stroked the surface of the plain white eyepatch, feeling its texture.

"You really do like eyepatches, huh..."

Click! Kurumi swiftly drew her antique flintlock pistol and pointed it at Eric.

Just as quickly, Eric raised both hands in surrender—still holding his knife and fork. A piece of steak dripping with black pepper sauce remained skewered on his fork.

"Hoo~" Kurumi let out a breath. "Please stop paying attention to the eyepatch."

"But..."

"Please don't."

"Got it!"

Only then did Kurumi holster her pistol.

Eric lowered his hands and bit into the steak.

"Ah, the sauce got on my beard!" Eric didn't usually grow his beard out, but he had just gotten some sauce on it by accident.

By now, Akame had already devoured five large plates of steak. Her puffed-up cheeks wobbled as she chewed, looking like a chubby hamster.

"The steak here is pretty good, but not as tasty as the one in Gourmet City." She somehow still had room in her mouth to speak.

But Akame didn't mention that eating with Eric made her happier than sharing gourmet food with Porche.

Poor little Porche, crying in the bathroom.

"Of course, the food in Gourmet City is famous worldwide."

Even though Eric said that, he honestly couldn't tell which food was better. All he could distinguish was "tasty" and "absolutely disgusting."

Kurumi, who had a smaller appetite, had long since put down her utensils. Her arms rested on the table, hands clasped and tucked under her chin. If she had a pair of reflective glasses on, she'd be a dead ringer for Commander Ikari.

Eric noticed Kurumi's gaze was fixed on him, and he began to feel uneasy. 'She's not planning some kind of punishment again, is she?'

But Kurumi softly opened her cherry-colored lips, "I actually don't mind."

"Huh?" Eric didn't quite follow.

"The wings thing..."

"Huh?"

Seeing the confused look on his face, Kurumi sighed. "It's just... I vaguely recall meeting a guy who was two-timing ten women, kissed every one of them, and even stripped them all at lightning speed afterward."

Reflected in Kurumi's Akame was Eric's figure. "Compared to him, you're much more innocent. You even get shy just holding hands. You're way behind that guy. Eh~ after meeting that scumbag, my tolerance has really gone up."

'Wait... is Kurumi saying I'm not scummy enough? That I haven't played enough girls? Or is she complaining I'm too shy and haven't made a move on her?'

Eric thought it through carefully. 'But she must be talking about Itsuka, right? He not only kissed all those beauties but saw them naked too. Damn, I'm jealous…'

"You're thinking of something indecent, aren't you?" Kurumi narrowed her eyes. "But I only have one condition—Esdeath is never allowed to ride on top of me."

Eric, courting death, suddenly asked: "Then... what level angel can I be?"

Crack

In the previously noisy restaurant, the sound of glass breaking rang out sharply.

Click Kurumi pointed her gun at Eric's head. A throbbing vein popped beneath her right eye, forming a bold "#" mark. "How many-winged angel do you want to be?"

Nearby diners subtly turned their heads and began whispering among themselves.

"A love triangle?"

"Cheating? Infidelity?"

"Just shoot him! Take down that old scumbag!"

"Can an old guy like that even use his gun anymore?"

'Who the hell said that?! Come out and face me if you've got the guts!' Eric fumed inwardly.

Really, people just loved drama. The citizens of this world had long gotten used to the consequences of the rising pirate population and were no strangers to their crude behavior. Fights breaking out over nothing was practically routine.

Kurumi had already drawn her gun and pressed it against Eric's head, yet the surrounding diners continued eating and gossiping as if nothing was out of the ordinary—just waiting to see how the story would unfold.

Especially the one who whispered "shoot him"—Eric was particularly pissed at that guy and mentally marked him for divine punishment later. But for now, the priority was calming Kurumi down.

"Uh... I-I don't really know?" Eric stammered.

"Ah~" Kurumi let out a long sigh and put her gun away. "Anyway, I already decided to travel this world with you. But that woman Esdeath... she's not easy to handle. So proud, she might not be willing to let anyone else stand on equal ground."

"True." Eric nodded in agreement. That was probably why Kurumi and Esdeath constantly clashed.

One wanted to walk by his side for a lifetime; the other wanted to possess him entirely. The two were fundamentally incompatible.

Fortunately, Eric had become much stronger than before. Though Esdeath was still the strongest in their group, defeating Eric and taking him by force wasn't something she could easily pull off now—especially with someone like Scáthach on their side, whose strength wasn't far behind.

And Esdeath had changed. She no longer acted solely on impulse. She hadn't even tried to kidnap Eric before, and she surely wouldn't do so now. She had plenty of confidence in her own charm, after all.

Suddenly, Akame, finally full, spoke up: "Aren't we all Eric's wings? Helping him fly higher and farther?"

Her words left Eric and Kurumi both stunned, instantly breaking the strange tension in the air.

Kurumi picked up a napkin and gently wiped a drop of soup from Akame's cheek. "Akame, shall we team up? Let's defeat the demon king together."

Akame looked into Kurumi's Akame , which mirrored her own, and gave a firm nod. "Mm!"

"Demon king? You mean me?" A cool voice suddenly came from behind.

Esdeath had appeared behind Kurumi, dragging along Perona and Porche. Scáthach and Chiron followed behind them.

"Ara, speak of the devil. But can you not sneak up like that? You startled me."

Esdeath tilted her head. "Devil? Who's that?"

"..." Kurumi said, "It's just a saying from our homeland."

After hours of playing, the two girls collapsed on the table, completely exhausted.

Tear stains still clung to the corners of their eyes.

Eric asked curiously, "What did you do? You're so tired—and crying too?"

Chiron answered, "Roller coaster, pirate ship, haunted house… mostly the scary attractions."

Scáthach added, "All in the name of 'building courage.'"

"Are they even old enough for such dangerous rides?"

"Esdeath stepped on one staff member's head and put her sword in another's mouth, threatening to cut them if they didn't let the girls ride..."

"Okay, okay, I get it." Eric held his head in pain.

"After that, one of the staff led us around crying the whole time—we didn't even have to queue."

"Of course, we paid for all the tickets—and gave him a generous tip."
