"Retreat! Retreat to the eastern fortress!
Knights ,mages and healers from "the forth" shouted . Survivals and injured made thierway to the eastern fortress.
The wand, humming , hovered in the air. Suddenly, it split into two halves and pierced Adam's skin, leaving a tattooed rune on his left hand, inscribed with the ancient word "Kiaos."
Adam collapsed, screaming in agony as a void consumed him ,darkness and pain that dredged up memories of past Wilders. Madness gripped him as he muttered, "The lost tribe… the forgotten," their whispers echoing in his mind.
"Nefisis."
The wand, now "Kiaos," shattered every trace of foreign magic, including the Eliot family crest , a mark branded on slaves and servants to compel obedience. It rejected everything that bound Adam to servitude.
Kira's bleeding had been stabilized, and Kile had regained consciousness after a long blackout. Confused and shaken, the group carried Adam through the eastern wall, along a pathway to the Fortress of the Guardians. As more survivors poured in, healers tended to Adam and the other wounded.
The aftermath was horrific, a scene of devastation. The Halliems, alongside the Guardian Knights and Protectors of the Realm, arrived to aid the survivors.
"It's been ages since the last siege," one of the Halliems remarked during a roundtable discussion. "What caused this monstrosity? It's as if these beasts were controlled by a leader , a new threat after our long era of peace."
Feizian of House Deca spoke gravely, "The Great Prophecy." The room fell silent at the mention.
Lord Dein of House Hexa proposed, "We should summon the Berserkers."
The other members of the Forth, representing the six great houses, agreed except for Mr. Klein of House Draga, who hesitated before reluctantly concurring.
The Berserkers, a secretive tribe of skilled katana wielders, had long served the Forth as its blazing sword. Hidden even during peacetime, they were underground hounds battling the "Oni," demons of the dark side.
Among mankind, magic wielders, and supernaturals, the Berserkers acted as a bridge, relaying information between worlds. Long ago, a forgotten prophecy foretold a darker era than the last siege, when one would rise from light to restore order to a broken world.
Adam awoke after three days, his fever broken. The healers said his body was fine, but his mind remained in chaos. Kira and her family, displaced since the events at Valoria, visited him in the temporary shelter.
Little Amber stood at his bedside and exclaimed, "He's awake! The Bone is awake!" The group rushed in, laughing.
"Thank you, Adam," Kile said. "We owe you our lives."
"Where is she?" Adam asked. Kile signaled for the others to leave them alone.
"She's safe," Kile assured him. "I need you to know Kira isn't a bad person. It's complicated. Our family, the Rhodes, got into trouble, and serving rogue Lord Julian was her only choice. If she'd known his true plans, she never would've hurt anyone."
"I'm sorry for how I treated you," Kile added.
Adam looked over the wall ,with affirmation and strong resolved, then the great trumpet sounded.
