A week in Baltimore felt like forever. Her heart was raw. She had never had to stay away from Alfred, even for a day. This was the longest, away from him, and it felt torturous, though Alfred was still on life support, and Maria had assured her, she'd never leave his bed-side, till he regains consciousness, yet, Ava didn't want to leave.
"Lorenzo's life is in danger, you got to go to see things for yourself Amor." Maria had told her twice the night Lorenzo had called her. Her fears were greater than her despair.
" His life is in danger cos mine is too Maria, how am l supposed to protect him, when l've got no protection myself.
"Call Dr Wilson. He's in Baltimore."
"Did he tell you that?" Ava pretended not to know.
"He mentioned it the night of Alfred's surgery."
