Sunlight streamed through the glass dome of the Newborn City laboratory, reflecting dazzlingly off the cold metal walls.
The air within the laboratory was filled with faint magical fluctuations, as if foreshadowing an intense battle about to begin.
Mystogan pushed open the heavy iron door and slowly walked into the laboratory.
Five wooden staves floated silently behind him, each emitting a faint glow.
His gaze was calm and sharp, fixed on the petite figure in front of him.
Alice stood at the other end of the laboratory, the horn on her forehead shimmering with silver light, a mad smile playing on her lips, and her eyes filled with provocation and disdain.
She raised her hands slightly, and the air around her began to distort, as if it might tear open at any moment.
"Mystogan, I've heard of you. A Holder-Type Mage actually dares to break in here alone?" Alice's voice held a hint of amusement.
"I won't let you continue to destroy this city." Mystogan's voice was deep and calm, his face tightly wrapped, revealing only a pair of eyes that showed no emotion.
"Then try it!" Alice's laughter echoed through the laboratory, and her body instantly vanished from her spot, leaving only an afterimage in the air.
Alice instantly appeared behind Mystogan, and with a fierce wave of her hands, a pitch-black rift opened in the air, and an invisible spatial slash hurtled towards Mystogan's back.
The spatial slash was incredibly fast, almost instantly closing in on Mystogan's body.
However, Mystogan's reaction was even faster.
"Triple Magic Circle: Mirror Water."
The staves behind him rotated rapidly, and three overlapping magic circles formed a transparent barrier behind him. The spatial slash struck the barrier with a dull roar, then was repelled back, flying towards Alice's direction.
Alice snorted coldly, her body instantly teleporting again, dodging the rebounding spatial slash.
Her figure appeared on the other side of the laboratory, and she waved her hands again, sending several spatial slashes from different angles towards Mystogan.
Each spatial slash carried the power to tear space, as if to rip Mystogan's body into pieces.
Mystogan's eyes remained calm. He flicked his hand, and five staves flew out from behind him, embedding themselves in the ground.
"Quintuple Magic Circle: Kagura."
Five overlapping magic circles of different colors formed a giant pillar of light around him, completely sealing all the spatial slashes.
The light spread out, illuminating the laboratory.
The air within the pillar of light seemed to solidify, and Alice's movements also became sluggish.
"Bastard!" Alice gritted her teeth, trying to teleport again, but found her body was bound by an invisible force, unable to move.
A hint of panic flashed in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by madness.
"Spatial Pierce!" Alice roared, and the horn on her forehead erupted with dazzling light. A sharp spatial force shot out from her horn, directly striking Mystogan's stave.
The power of Spatial Pierce was extremely strong; cracks began to appear on the surface of the pillar of light, as if it would collapse at any moment.
"Triple Magic Circle: Mirror Water."
Mystogan's eyes narrowed slightly. He raised his hand, grabbed a stave, and rotated it rapidly. Three blue magic circles opened, easily reflecting the incoming attack.
The energy wave of Spatial Pierce shot towards Alice at an even faster speed.
But the horned girl had already used teleportation to leave her original spot, appearing in the corner of the laboratory, looking at Mystogan with sinister eyes.
Mystogan's eyes remained calm. He lightly flicked his fingers, and the five staves once again floated in the air, emitting a faint glow.
Alice's entire body tensed. She had already felt Mystogan's immense pressure.
"Your spatial magic is indeed good, but it's not enough to defeat me." Mystogan's voice was deep and calm, as if stating a fact.
Alice's lips curved into a mad smile again, her eyes filled with unwillingness and anger.
She waved her hands fiercely, and several pitch-black rifts once again opened in the air. Countless spatial slashes assailed Mystogan from all directions.
The violent slashes all carried the power to tear space, as if to rip the entire laboratory into pieces.
"Your attacks are too one-dimensional." Mystogan's eyes were calm. He lightly waved his fingers, and an intense light bloomed.
"Triple Magic Circle: Mirror Water."
Three blue magic circles opened. The incoming spatial slashes landed on the magic circles, but none could break through, all returning the way they came.
"You're no different!" Alice teleported again, appearing not far behind Mystogan, the silver light from the horn on her forehead shining brightly.
Mystogan's perception was extremely keen. Almost the instant Alice teleported, he had already sensed her movements.
He turned his body slightly, and the five staves had, at some unknown moment, landed beside Alice, arranged in a five-pointed star pattern.
The moment Alice landed from her teleportation, she had intended to attack, but she suddenly realized that she was surrounded by the staves, and a strangely unsettling magical fluctuation emanated from the five staves.
"When?" Alice's expression turned ugly. The silver light from the horn on her head shone brightly, and a spherical silver-white glow protected her body.
"It's no use, it's too late." Mystogan clasped his hands together. The tips of the five staves simultaneously lit up with dazzling light, "Sleep!"
"Quintuple Magic Circle: Kagura."
The staves on the ground lit up in sequence, and five overlapping magic circles of different colors opened one after another above Alice's head.
"Oh no!" Alice instinctively tried to teleport away, but found that the Quintuple Magic Circle above her head actually had a locking and suppressing effect, making teleportation impossible to activate.
The light of the Quintuple Magic Circle erupted with a roar, and a dazzling five-colored pillar of light descended from the sky, completely enveloping Alice's body.
Alice's body in the pillar of light trembled slightly. The madness and unwillingness in her eyes gradually dissipated, replaced by emptiness and confusion.
Her body slowly fell, finally sinking completely into slumber.
Mystogan looked at Alice lying on the ground, his eyes still calm.
One of the staves lit up again, and the unconscious Alice on the ground shrunk and flew into the stave.
Mystogan gently waved his hand, and the five staves quickly flew back behind him, emitting a faint glow.
The magical fluctuations in the air gradually dissipated, and the laboratory returned to peace once more.
"Mission complete." Mystogan murmured softly, then turned and walked towards the laboratory exit.
His steps remained steady, as if the battle had never happened.
Sunlight streamed through the glass dome, illuminating Mystogan's retreating figure and casting a long shadow.
