Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Vengeance on the Wolf King

Chapter 16: Vengeance on the Wolf King

Very soon, the Stone Clan disciple's entire essence was completely devoured by Yao Yan. His body now resembled a dried corpse, lying cold on the ground with not a trace of life left.

Yao Yan clenched his fist. He could clearly feel that his physical strength had increased dozens of times—not from Dou Qi, but purely from raw bodily talent. This came from the Dou Emperor bloodline of the Stone Clan. In fact, when he fully activated his physical power, his skin turned a pale gray—identical to a Stone Clan warrior.

"Excellent. A perfect inheritance!"

Hun Xuzi's eyes gleamed with excitement, extremely satisfied with Yao Yan's results. Such a powerful body at such a young age could only be matched by the top geniuses of the Stone Clan or descendants of super magical beasts.

His century-long preparation had not been in vain. This was a near-perfect creation. How could he not be thrilled?

He might just be forging the most flawless being on the Dou Qi Continent—a lifeform without weakness.

Yao Yan quickly suppressed his blood energy. There was no way he could walk around with gray skin. If the Stone Clan discovered him, they would pursue him relentlessly. Not even the Soul Clan's protection could shield him—this kind of act crossed the bottom line of every imperial clan.

Perhaps that was why Hun Xuzi wasn't worried about betrayal—only the Soul Clan would accept someone like him.

Noticing Yao Yan's concern, Hun Xuzi chuckled, took out a golden scroll from his ring, and handed it over. "I've already prepared a body-refining Dou Technique for you. When activated, it will change your skin color—no one will suspect anything. This technique only requires blood energy to train, not Dou Qi."

Yao Yan accepted the scroll and pressed it to his forehead. Instantly, information surged into his mind.

Earth-Rank High-Tier – Vajra Indestructible Body

Training Requirements: One must possess blood energy tens of times greater than a normal person, and use the juice of the Vajra Fruit combined with Tier 5 to 7 body-tempering pills.

The technique has three stages:

Bronze Form: Skin turns bronze, impervious to blades and spears, with immense strength. Even without Dou Qi, one can face a Dou King head-on.Silver Form: Skin turns silver, the body becomes invincible, able to resist chaotic spatial currents and battle Dou Sects.Purple-Gold Form: Skin turns purple-gold, the body can withstand combat with Dou Venerates.

And finally, a theorized last realm—

The Indestructible Form: Limb regeneration, undying and immortal.

This final stage surpassed the domain of body refinement entirely.

Hun Xuzi raised his hand and burned the dried corpse with black flame, leaving no trace behind. Then, he handed Yao Yan another storage ring. "The resources for training your body have already been prepared. Focus on this for now. Pause Dou Qi cultivation and adjust to your increased blood energy."

Compared to Yao Yan's previous ring, this one had a much larger space, filled with abundant cultivation materials and pill ingredients.

"I'll be occupied for a while. When I return, I want to see that you've reached at least the first level of the Vajra Indestructible Body."

With that, Hun Xuzi's figure dissipated, melting into a stream of black flame that returned to the jade token.

Efficiency, as always.

The cave fell silent, as though nothing had happened.

Yao Yan stared at the ground where the Stone Clan disciple had vanished and took a deep breath. This had been his first kill. Even if it hadn't been bloody, something inside him had broken—perhaps his moral baseline.

The more that line is crossed… the lower it becomes.

When he opened his eyes again, his gaze fell on the scroll.

Better to strengthen himself than dwell on sentimentality.

Half a month had passed since Yao Yan devoured the Stone Clan disciple.

Today, he sat cross-legged beneath the waterfall, letting it pound against his body. Every impact felt like flaying and scraping. The juice of the Vajra Fruit soaked into his skin and flesh, strengthening them. The energy of the Tier 5 Body-Tempering Pills circulated through his body.

The training was torturous—like most body-refining methods. Especially early on, when one had to rely on external forces.

Thankfully, the pain had paid off. His once gray skin, exposed when activating his bloodline, had turned a shade of yellow. At this pace, he would soon reach the first level of the Vajra Indestructible Body.

At that point, his physical strength alone could rival a Dou King—enough to give him real confidence in the Shennong Mountains.

Boom—!

Yao Yan suddenly stood, his skin glowing faintly yellow. A terrifying strength exploded from his body like a savage beast. The waterfall behind him erupted into a spray of water. He stepped out from the cascade, raised his head, stretched his body, then clenched his fists with a grin. "Compared to Dou Qi, body refinement improves strength way faster!"

By his estimate, the average Stone Clan adult—without using Dou Qi—could match a Dou Sect in raw strength.

Some with exceptional bloodlines could even fight Dou Venerates head-on.

That kind of physical talent was monstrous.

At his current level, Yao Yan figured he could last several exchanges against a Dou King—without using any Dou Techniques. That alone was terrifying.

"It's time to pay those wolves a visit."

Yao Yan sneered. He hadn't forgotten how the Frost Wolves had driven him into a desperate escape months ago. He'd been in a miserable state back then.

But now, the roles were reversed.

He was going to smash the Frost Wolf King's head in.

The once-familiar valley had now become a den of wolves.

The Tier 3 Frost Wolf King lay resting in a cave. After Yao Yan fled, it had claimed the territory. It was a good area—rich in resources and perfect for a growing pack. It was also still searching for the "heavenly treasure" that had vanished that day.

And of course, the creature that had dared deceive it!

Awoooo!

Suddenly, the wolves outside let out panicked howls, followed by waves of frightened cries.

The Frost Wolf King sprang up and rushed out like the wind. What it saw made its pupils contract.

A "small" human stood surrounded by the pack, holding a Frost Wolf by the throat and grinning.

"Hey there, Wolf King. Long time no see. Do you remember me?"

Yao Yan smiled sweetly at the Frost Wolf King, raising the struggling wolf in one hand. The Illusory Gold Flame ignited in his palm, instantly engulfing the wolf. It began writhing in agony.

But a Tier 2 Frost Wolf was no match for him. With a slight squeeze, Yao Yan snapped its neck.

He let go.

The burning corpse hit the ground, the scent of roasting meat drifting into the air.

ROAR!

The Frost Wolf King howled furiously. It immediately recognized the Illusory Gold Flame's aura. Its fur stood on end, and its massive two-meter-tall body tensed like a tiger. Sharp fangs gleamed, its mouth exhaled icy mist, and its beastly eyes locked onto Yao Yan.

"Good, so you remember. Come—let's play."

Yao Yan's smile deepened. The past few years had been unbearably stifling for him.

The Frost Wolf King growled, but didn't attack immediately. Instead, it commanded the surrounding wolves to close in.

Whoosh~

Yao Yan's palm ignited, forming a blazing golden Flame Blade. With a light swing, a several-zhang-long flame slash tore through the air toward the approaching wolves. They couldn't dodge in time—three were instantly cut in half, blood splattering.

At the same time, Yao Yan launched himself forward.

Flames surged from his ankles like a fire dragon lashing the ground, propelling him forward at explosive speed.

Mid-Tier Xuan Movement Technique – Roaming Dragon Chant.

Using fire-element Dou Qi to boost momentum, it mimicked a dragon's swift, twisting flight. Once mastered, it even allowed short bursts of flight.

Yao Yan's expression had turned cold. No more smiling. His entire body was cloaked in Illusory Gold Flame, surrounded by a fiery shield formed by the Flame Blade. Despite his strong physical defenses, he never believed in going easy. When fighting, you give it everything. That's the rule.

The Frost Wolf King's eyes widened. Before it could react, Yao Yan was already in front of it. In panic, it opened its mouth to release a blast of freezing air.

Too slow.

Yao Yan uppercut it in the jaw, snapping its mouth shut. The massive impact rattled its brain—it staggered, stunned. The cold breath it tried to unleash was swallowed instead, leaving it choking.

BOOM!

Yao Yan stepped forward, wrapped his arms around the Frost Wolf King's neck, and threw it over his shoulder in a brutal slam. The ground cracked beneath the impact, shockwaves rippling outward.

Without pause, he raised his fist and struck again—repeated blows to the head.

Wrapped in the Flame Blade, his punches were devastating. The ground trembled with every hit. Dust and blood filled the air.

After seven or eight punches, Yao Yan finally stopped.

The Frost Wolf King's skull had caved in—its brain exposed, magic core visible.

"So boring."

Yao Yan plucked out the core and glanced coldly at the surrounding wolves, all of which were now cowering in silence.

He looked down, yanked out the biggest fang from the Wolf King's mouth, then turned and walked away.

Above, hidden in the sky—

Yao Nong watched the entire scene in silence.
