Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: A romantic rival or just an idiot?

"Ah, it's you, Mr. Rito."

At the entrance of the door, Peke floated in front of him.

"Welcome back. Taking a stroll?" She asked.

"Mm, couldn't sleep." He replied: "Did I wake you?"

"No, I just finished recharging my battery and was heading back to Miss Lala." Peke answered.

"I see." He said: "Actually, Peke, can you…"

"What was it?"

He stopped midway: "Never mind, it wasn't anything too important."

"Really?" Peke tilted her head, then stopped caring.

...

Upon arriving at his room after taking another bath... Rito lay down on the bed.

By luck, perhaps... Lala didn't invade his room like the other times.

With his arms and legs spread out on the bed, staring at the ceiling, his mind began to wander.

It was just one day, or rather, a few hours, but so many things happened... It felt like he couldn't stop thinking about it now.

The side effects of using the Sage's Eyes were a problem. Although it could be resolved with orbs, especially the purple orbs, that wasn't a luxury he had at the moment to spend whenever he wanted.

And, in the hunting dimension, he didn't have the option to use orbs. In other words, although those eyes were powerful, they caused an unimaginable amount of stress to his eyes and nervous system — not to mention the enormous consumption of Spiritual Mana.

Another thing... He had no control over what he copied while the Sage's Eyes were activated. Everything the Green Wolf used was automatically analyzed and copied.

'At the very least, I need to learn to control and decide what I want or don't want to copy while using the Sage's Eyes...'

With that thought in mind, he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Wearing only an open blazer showing his chiseled chest and abs, sporting a pair of dark sunglasses, Rito arrived at school.

Before passing through the gate, a teacher stopped him with a flushed face.

"Hey, who are you? You're not a student at this school, right?" She asked.

Taking off his sunglasses, Rito said with a dazzling smile: "I'm Rito Yuki, you know."

The teacher's heart skipped a beat, and her face flushed deeply as she let out a lovesick maiden's squeal.

Putting his sunglasses back on, he walked in.

While changing his shoes, two girls stopped in front of him.

"Hey... Are you a model by any chance?" One of the two girls asked with a lovestruck gaze.

He took off his sunglasses and replied: "No, I'm Rito Yuki, you know."

"Kyahhh!"

Both girls screamed excitedly with their faces completely red.

This repeated until he reached the classroom.

Before entering the classroom, a girl tripped and began to fall.

Like a scene from a dance movie, he caught her while she was bent backward and he leaned forward: "Are you okay?" He asked.

"Y-Yes, thank you." She thanked him, blushing, and asked: "C-Can you tell me your name?"

He responded with a dazzling smile as he took off his sunglasses: "I'm Rito Yuki, you know."

She fainted in his arms.

"Are, are. What do I do with her?" He sighed.

"Rito... Rito..."

While he thought about taking the girl to the infirmary, he saw that same girl start to blur. The scenery around him also began to distort as he heard Mikan's voice.

'Mikan? Why is Mikan here at school?' He wondered.

"Rito!"

Suddenly, he opened his eyes, sitting up in bed, feeling confused.

When he looked toward the door and saw his sister staring at him with puffed cheeks, he thought about what he had just dreamed and blushed deeply.

'Ugh, what kind of crazy dream was that?'

"God, get up already or you'll be late!" Mikan said, closing the door.

As soon as she closed the door, Rito's embarrassment peaked, and he felt like screaming from secondhand shame.

'I don't want to do something like that, right...?' He shuddered.

He felt the world had become colder...

...

In the dining room while they ate breakfast, Mikan commented: "Rito, you're strangely quiet today."

"It's nothing, just thinking about something..." He replied.

"Oh, really?" Since he didn't want to talk, she stopped caring.

"Mikan, today's breakfast is delicious too~!" Lala said with a smile.

"Thank you." Mikan replied with a calm smile.

Today, Mikan went all out again, preparing rice, raw egg mixed with soy sauce, chopped nori seaweed, sesame seeds, and green onions, miso soup with tofu, and green tea.

"Kuoh Academy... She's here."

[Class 2-B]

Before the class started, the teacher said: "This might seem a bit sudden, but I'm going to introduce a new student."

"Huh? Another one?"

"Even though Lala just transferred recently?"

The sliding door opened.

"Ohhh..."

Some favorable gasps from girls echoed.

The teacher said: "This is Ren Elsie Jewelria. Please get along with him."

Ren has bright pink eyes, and the top part of his hair is white with two strands sticking out, while the lower back part is black.

With a smug sound as he closed his eyes and brushed his hair back, Ren opened his eyes while resting his hand on the side of his face, giving a flirtatious look: "Pleasure to meet you all."

"Kyahhhh!"

"So handsome!"

"Gorgeous!"

The classroom was filled with a pink aura and hearts.

"Alright, your seat is..." The teacher couldn't finish because Ren simply walked forward while saying: "I found you, my fiancée!"

He spun dramatically, almost as if he were performing a theatrical scene.

Even his voice changed, sounding quite fake.

"Huh?!"

"F-Fiancée?"

The students in the class were shocked by his words.

He stopped in front of Lala and tried to take her hand, but Lala slapped his hand away: "What do you think you're doing?" She shouted at him.

"Lala." He didn't flinch, placing his clenched fist against his chest, saying: "I knew it was you the moment I saw you. Even if you're in the middle of a crowd, you can't hide your beauty."

"Hey! What do you mean by *your fiancée*?!"

The one who shouted was Saruyama.

Ren turned to him: "You're… Rito Yuki?!"

"No, I'm not." Saruyama denied.

Rito stood up, thinking about saying, *'I'm Rito Yuki, you know…'*

His eyes changed.

The dream from this morning came back to haunt him.

Without realizing, he used the wind and moved so fast that he was already in front of Ren, his hand clenched into a fist as he struck Ren's stomach.

*POW!*

"Urghhh!"

Ren was sent flying backward, heading toward the bulletin board with posters next to the chalkboard.

*Bang!*

Ren's body collided with the wall, cracking it slightly and shaking the classroom in the process.

"I'm Rito Yuki." He said, and without meaning to, he thought: *'You know.'*

"So it's you…" Ren was a tough guy to bring down.

He still managed to stand, blood dripping from his mouth, and pieces of concrete falling to the ground behind him.

"N-Not bad, as expected, you're the one who stole Lala from me!" He shouted, pointing his finger at him: "Rito Yuki, I'll say this only once. I'm taking Lala back."

He ran his hand through his hair, trying to act like a heartthrob, but his miserable state only made him look pathetic.

"Look, a romantic rival has appeared?" Aika adjusted her glasses with a provocative smile.

"This is looking like a soap opera!" Another girl commented excitedly: "I hope we get a sweet and thrilling romantic battle."

"Yes, yes, I have a question!" Lala stood up.

"What is it, Lala?" Ren asked with a smug look.

Clasping her hands together, she asked: "Who are you?"

Even stronger than the punch he took to the stomach from Rito, Ren stood petrified in shock with his eyes and mouth wide open.

Stumbling, leaning against the wall, he stammered: "A-As expected of L-Lala. I guess I'm still not good enough for you, even though my heart is entirely yours. Either way, I won't lose. Because I am a… Man!"

"No, you're not a man, you're an idiot." Rito approached him.

"What did you say?" Ren got furious: "I dare you to say that again?!"

"I'll say it as many times as you want." Rito stood in front of him, looking down: "You're just an idiot, with all the letters and syllables."

"You bastard…" Ren's face turned completely red as he clenched his hands into fists.

"Hey, hey, idiots!" The teacher finally interrupted, shouting: "Haven't you caused enough trouble already? And, Rito and the transfer student, go straight to the teachers' lounge!"

"This isn't over!" Ren glared at Rito, letting out a "Hmph!" He stormed out of the classroom with an air of arrogance.

"Rito, you too!" The teacher was furious this time.

"Yes." Rito replied calmly.

"Rito…" Lala looked at him worriedly.

"It's okay, Lala." Rito said: "See you later."

"Yeah!" She replied positively.
