Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Immortal Man: I need an explanation! Cecil: Okay, you are fired!

After Eden swiftly sent Eve, who had multiple bone fractures and was unconscious, to the Global Defense Agency's designated hospital, he returned to the Kent Family on his own.

Upon returning home, Eden first took a comfortable hot shower, then subconsciously checked the time, realizing only five minutes had passed, so he went to the largest supermarket nearby to stock up.

After all, Eden was about to embark on a half-month trip to Mars with the half-baked Astronauts dispatched by NASA.

"Beep beep beep!"

Just as Eden finished all his preparations and was resting on the sofa, his phone rang again.

"Hmm?"

Eden raised an eyebrow, unsure who would be calling him at this hour?!

Thinking this, Eden somewhat confusedly pulled out his phone, slid to unlock it, and seeing the caller, it was indeed Cecil.

"Hello? Cecil!"

"If I'm not mistaken, I've already helped you rescue everyone from both the Guardians and the Teen Team. What do you need me for now?"

"The subsequent logistical work should all be your Defense Agency's business, right? If you can't even handle such a small matter, I think you should retire early."

After a brief five-second consideration, Eden answered the phone and, before Cecil could speak, first reprimanded him.

"Eden, if it wasn't absolutely necessary, I really wouldn't call you."

Cecil's voice was tinged with weariness; if it weren't a last resort, he wouldn't want to ask for help from Eden, the 'ancestor' who stood above everyone at the Global Defense Agency.

"Speak, what is it?"

Eden was concise.

"Eden, what exactly did you do to The Immortal when you were in The Inner World?"

"As soon as he returned, he started clamoring to leave the Guardians, the kind that couldn't be stopped."

Cecil was truly exhausted.

To be honest, Cecil still had a huge pile of problems with supervillains threatening Earth's safety and peace that hadn't been properly resolved.

Yet, the superheroes were already starting to bicker and strike among themselves.

Being the director of this damn Defense Agency was truly difficult.

"Then let him get out."

"The Global Guardians don't need a softie like The Immortal."

"Do I really need to teach you such things, Cecil!"

"As for the specifics, you can ask Robot."

Eden first cursed a few words, then told Cecil to ask Robot for the full story before hanging up on him.

"Oh, right."

"If The Immortal hadn't reminded me, I would have forgotten about 'exterminating the pests' in The Inner World."

As Eden spoke, with a thought, he changed into his black battle suit and returned to The Inner World, embarking on a massive cleanup of the entire Inner World.

At the same time.

Global Defense Agency.

"Tsk."

After being inexplicably scolded by Eden, Cecil was fuming.

He, Cecil, had done so much for Earth, yet he was always getting scolded by his superior because of subordinates' issues. Anyone would be angry in his position.

Yes, perhaps even Cecil hadn't realized that deep down, he subconsciously placed Eden in the position of his superior.

"Robot, come here."

Thinking this, Cecil used remote communication technology to summon Robot.

"Cecil, I'm here."

After a while, Robot entered the Global Defense Agency's base and proceeded unimpeded into Cecil's office.

"So, what exactly is that idiot The Immortal making a fuss about?"

Cecil asked, looking at Robot.

"Because of the bugs."

Robot stated.

"The bug problem?"

Cecil was startled.

"Black-Clothed Superman believes that the giant arthropods in The Inner World will severely endanger the safety of all human life and property, so he plans to clear them out."

"But The Immortal believes that humans invaded The Inner World first, and these arthropods, which have lived for hundreds of millions of years, only attacked the Guardians and the Teen Team because of that..."

"So The Immortal believes that humans should no longer enter The Inner World from now on and should return it to those arthropods."

Robot explained.

"Eden did a good job."

After hearing what Eden had done, Cecil first expressed his appreciation.

"That imbecile, The Immortal."

Then, Cecil angrily swore because of The Immortal's foolishness.

"Cockroaches have also existed for hundreds of millions of years; do you not stomp on them when you see them?"

"Broiler chickens are descendants of dinosaurs, yet I haven't seen that bastard The Immortal eat any fewer chicken drumstick burgers, have I?"

While cursing, Cecil's mind began to form a plan.

Global Guardians Headquarters.

The Guardians members were gathered for a meeting.

When everyone heard from The Immortal that he planned to leave the Guardians, they all showed shocked expressions.

"The Immortal, are you serious?"

"I mean, are you really planning to leave the Guardians?"

Among them, War Woman looked at The Immortal in confusion and asked, "Just because of some arthropods?"

"That's not it."

"I think Cecil doesn't respect us."

"You also saw that Black-Clothed Superman."

"Before our predicament, we didn't even know he existed."

"Cecil, behind our backs, is harboring such a powerful and ruthless individual. Who exactly is he planning to use that guy against?!"

The Immortal said angrily.

"This..."

Following The Immortal's roar, the Guardians members present all fell silent.

"Perhaps Cecil has his reasons."

Red Speed was still making excuses for Cecil.

"Red Speed, stop defending Cecil. That guy isn't worth your help."

"Today, there are only two choices: either Cecil comes clean with us and reveals all secrets, or I will leave the Guardians."

"I believe Cecil, being a smart man, will make the right choice."

The Immortal said confidently.

"Buzz!"

Just then, accompanied by a dazzling light, Cecil finally appeared in the Guardians' meeting room.

"Cecil, have you thought about how you're going to explain this to us, the Guardians?"

The Immortal asked coldly, looking at the belated Cecil.

Hmm, in The Immortal's view, Cecil's arrival this time must be with sincerity, to explain and apologize to them, the original members of the Guardians.

"The Immortal?"

"Didn't you already quit the team?"

"What are you still sitting here for?"

Cecil asked in confusion when he saw The Immortal.

"Is that so?"

"Given your sincere apology, it's not that I can't..."

"No, what did you say?"

The Immortal looked at Cecil with a puzzled expression.

The Immortal thought his ears were playing tricks on him; he actually hallucinated Cecil telling him to get lost.

"You can get lost, The Immortal."

Cecil finished speaking, too lazy to spare The Immortal another glance.

Did this bro really think he was Eden?

The Immortal, why don't you reflect? You're so weak; you have no right to negotiate with him, Cecil.

"Besides The Immortal, who else plans to leave the team?! Let's get everything clear today, all at once, so I don't have to come back again."

After dealing with The Immortal's issue, Cecil continued on his own.

"Uh..."

Originally, these Guardians members who had verbally pledged to support The Immortal all quietly lowered their heads.

Especially Martians, who were undocumented on Earth; if they offended Cecil, they wouldn't even be able to stay on Earth.

"I'm giving you five seconds to think: five, four, three, two, one!"

Cecil gave these original Guardians members five seconds to decide whether to stay or leave the Guardians.

"It seems apart from The Immortal, no one else plans to leave the team?!"

"Very well, now I will discuss with you the future management and selection systems of the Guardians."

Five seconds later, Cecil found that all the Guardians members present were intimidated by him, so he nodded in satisfaction and continued, "This Dr. Earthquake incident has greatly disappointed me in you all! Therefore, I will establish a second team based on the original Guardians to deal with various dangers."

Just as Cecil was eloquently explaining the establishment and management of the Guardians' second team to the original Guardians members present, The Immortal sat in his seat, utterly bewildered and at a loss.

"I'm unemployed?"

After a while, The Immortal muttered to himself.

The Immortal didn't recover until the meeting ended.

"Apologies, you won't be needing this anymore."

During this time, Darkwing retrieved the communicator he had previously given to The Immortal.

After all, The Immortal had been fired, just like Black Samson; he wouldn't need this thing anymore.
