Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Although [Battlesuit: White Comet]'s [Time Fracture] could slow the Trampler's movements, it wasn't true hard control.

The Trampler's attack sequence — drawing its bow, taking aim, and firing — would not be interrupted by it.

The massive, heavy crossbow pulled back to full tension, its glowing bowstring humming with deadly energy.

Light condensed at the arrow's tip, swirling into a small vortex of destructive power.

Its target—March 7th, who was still engaged with a nearby Reaver.

Even slowed, the attack was fast. Without [Time Fracture], it would've been nearly invisible. Bai Ming didn't even want to imagine what that would look like at full speed.

'These enemies are way stronger than I thought…'

But now wasn't the time to be impressed—protecting March 7th came first!

"Look out!" Bai Ming shouted, halting mid-air and twisting around. "March! That thing's aiming at you!"

Despite her cute appearance, March 7th's combat instincts were razor-sharp. With the support of [Lucia (Top) ☆☆☆], her fighting ability had increased significantly, allowing her to overwhelm the [Marauder] she faced.

At Bai Ming's warning, she turned sharply—

"Eh?! Wait—what?!"

Her eyes widened in disbelief. The Trampler's massive crossbow was locked directly onto her.

"Hey! That's cheating!"

But awareness didn't mean evasion.

As soon as the [Time Fracture] field dissipated, the Trampler's movements surged back to full speed.

A gleam of lethal light flashed across its form.

The arrow on the string pulsed with compressed malice—

Whoosh!

The air split apart as the arrow shot forward, aimed straight for March 7th's forehead.

Too fast to dodge. Too close to counter.

The Trampler was going for the kill.

Seeing the projectile streak through the air, Bai Ming's heart seized. I can't just stand here!

There was only one thing left—

her ultimate.

The ultimate skill of [Battlesuit: White Comet]. It consumed all stored energy to dramatically boost the wearer's power—attack strength, speed, endurance, even granting a brief burst of super armor.

In this state, the battlesuit's output could exceed its normal limits by several times.

And after all the fighting so far, Bai Ming's energy gauge was finally full.

Perfect timing.

She gripped her bat tightly and shouted, "ultimate—activate!"

A system prompt appeared before her eyes:

[Please enter activation passphrase]

Easy.

"Neko Charm!"

Instantly, a golden halo erupted around Bai Ming, flooding the area with radiant light.

A shimmering force field enveloped her body—the [Burst Mode] system's protective shield coming online.

At the same time, the secondary module [Valkyrie Impact] triggered automatically.

A powerful shockwave exploded outward from Bai Ming's body, the blast of kinetic energy deflecting the incoming arrow mid-flight.

The deadly projectile shot off course with a sharp clang, spiraling away into the distance.

From his cover nearby, Arlan could only gape, losing count of how many times today his jaw had dropped.

Dan Heng, meanwhile, dispatched the Marauder before him with a clean thrust of his spear, shattering its form into fragments of light.

He frowned slightly at Bai Ming's rather unique method of interception—but, as he had said earlier,

"There's no point worrying about Bai Ming."

And he meant it.

As for March 7th, she stood frozen in place, heart hammering. That arrow had been close enough to cut a strand of her hair—and yet Bai Ming had somehow blasted it off course like it was nothing.

"Wha—what even are you?" she stammered under her breath.

Bai Ming, completely oblivious to the awe around her, knew exactly what she needed to do next. [Valkyrie Burst] didn't last forever. If she wanted to win, she had to end this fight before the effect expired!

Her battlesuit's systems flared once again. Power surged through her limbs as she charged the Trampler, baseball bat raised.

Thwack!

Thwack!

Thwack!

Each strike landed with sharp, ringing force. Sparks flew as the bat collided with the Trampler's armored frame. This time, Bai Ming could feel it—real damage.

The Trampler staggered back, its earlier arrogance gone, replaced by raw fury.

A dark light gathered in its palm, energy crackling as it unleashed a furious barrage of strikes.

Bai Ming's eyes narrowed. She didn't know what that attack was—but she was absolutely sure it wasn't friendly.

She slipped between its attacks with graceful precision, her movements fluid and instinctive. The once goofy, impulsive Bai Ming was now a blur of motion—a seasoned warrior whose every step carried purpose.

Even so, she could feel her Burst timer running low. The enhanced energy that powered her blows was starting to wane.

'I won't have enough to finish it… unless—'

Her eyes widened as an idea flashed through her mind.

'Of course.'

If she wanted more power—she already had the simplest, fastest method at hand.

Gacha!

She still had one pull left.

Her ultimate gamble.

The fate-defining single roll!
