Third POV
Stella drew in a deep, sharp breath. Her thoughts spun with questions.
Me? With a dormant wolf? She mused before letting out a low, humourless laugh.
Even in ages, she couldn't bring herself to accept such an idea. It sounded ridiculous and much more… it was unattainable.
Slowly, she eased herself out of Adrian's arms. She needed space. Needed to see him clearly.
She studied his face again and again, as though she were seeing him for the first time.
The familiar lines, the calm strength in his posture, the quiet confidence in his eyes—it was all the same.
And yet, nothing was.
She couldn't bring herself to believe if the man beside her was still the same man she had married.
A thought flashed her mind… "those eyes."
"What about your wolf?" she smirked.
"Karl?" Adrian returned the smirk easily. "He isn't dormant. He's always been with me." His gaze softened. "He knows you. And I must say… you've met. Subconsciously."
"Impossible." She muttered.
