Stella POV
By the time I stirred awake with a yawn, the sky was clear and bright.
Adrian lay beside me, his arm snaked around my waist, his hold on me tight as though I might disappear before he woke up.
His heart pulsed against my palm that rested on his chest, his breath against my forehead…warm and soothing.
I rubbed my eyes gently. With so many things that happened last night, I seemed to have lost track of time and slept in.
But why had Adrian also slept in? I searched his face, which seemed exhausted.
Is he also having a nightmare?
Or was it just because of me?
My first night here, he had been awake long before I stirred.
I gently tried to lift his arm away from my waist, but it tightened instinctively, his eyes flickering open.
"Are you okay?" he asked, propping himself up on the bed with his elbow, his hand under his chin.
