Chapter 71 - Chapter 71 - The Sea that Split

The New World was calm—eerily calm.

The Oro Jackson cut through silver waters under a pale sun, its sails billowing with the emblem of the Nyx Pirates. Below deck, the crew moved in silence, each of them feeling it — that strange, heavy pressure in the air that only meant one thing.

War was coming.

Mihawk stood by the railing, sharpening Yoru in slow, steady motions. His golden eyes never strayed from the horizon. "They're coming," he murmured.

Enel looked up from the deck, his young face serious, lightning faintly crackling around his shoulders. "The Marines again?"

Mihawk smirked faintly. "No small fry this time. I can feel three monsters on those ships."

Bullet cracked his knuckles, grinning. "Heh. Sounds like fun."

Ada stood at the ship's bow, her long dress rippling in the wind. Her midnight hair glinted faintly under the sun, eyes narrowed toward the distant shapes appearing through the mist. Warships — a whole fleet of them, cutting through the sea in perfect formation.

Fisher Tiger crossed his arms. "They really sent that many ships just for us?"

Ada's voice carried no pride, no fear — only quiet certainty.

"They're not here for us. They're here because they fear what we'll become."

Fisher Tiger stepped beside her. "They won't stop, will they?"

"No," Ada said simply, her tone like cold iron. "Not until they've chained the world again."

She rested one hand on her pistol — the weapon that had torn through buster calls and fortresses alike.

—————

From the flagship, Vice Admiral Sakazuki stood with arms crossed, his jaw tight. "Target in sight. Confirmed— the Oro Jackson. Nyx Pirates."

Behind him, Kuzan sighed, hands in his pockets. "Man… this is turning into quite the headache."

And beside him, Borsalino chuckled lazily, light glinting off his shades. "Oooh~ scary… The woman from Roger's crew. Nyx D. Ada…"

"Stop talking," Sakazuki barked. "We end this here. No speeches — no hesitation. If she escapes, the world government's authority means nothing."

He turned to his men. "All ships! Ready the cannons! Fire on my command!"

———————-

The skies rumbled as the first volleys screamed through the air.

The Nyx Pirates didn't move.

Ada didn't move. She simply raised her hand.

"Bullet."

He grinned and leapt onto the edge of the ship. "Heh, on it, Captain."

Metal rippled around his arms as he slammed his fists together. "Colossus Impact!"

The resulting shockwave shattered half the cannonballs in midair. The rest met the crack of Mihawk's blade as he sliced through the barrage with effortless precision, each slash a gleaming arc of dark green.

Enel raised his hand, electricity dancing across his fingertips.

"Raigo…"

A surge of lightning burst from the sky, frying an entire warship in an instant.

The sea itself seemed to respond — roaring, alive.

Fisher Tiger dove into the water with a single motion, his strength tearing through the tide. Below, he gripped the keel of one Marine ship and flipped it over as easily as a child tossing a toy.

Above the chaos, Ada stood motionless — watching.

Kuzan landed first, his boots freezing the water beneath him into a glacial path.

Borsalino appeared next, light particles coalescing into his tall, languid form.

Sakazuki's arrival cracked the air with heat. "Nyx D. Ada," he growled. "Your crimes against the Celestial Dragons, the Marines, and the World Government — they all end here."

Ada tilted her head slightly, her gaze steady. "Crimes? Funny. I didn't know breathing freely was one."

Sakazukk's arm ignited. "You mock justice, woman."

"Justice…" Ada's tone was calm, almost amused. "You mean vengeance dressed as law."

The ground beneath them began to hiss — magma meeting frost as Kuzan stepped forward.

"Let's make this quick," he muttered.

But Bullet had already moved. "You're not touching her."

His fist met Kuzan's ice head-on, steam bursting between them.

Kizaru tried to flank, only for Mihawk to intercept him with a single elegant swing.

Their clash sent ripples of light and air bursting in all directions.

"Yare yare…" Borsalino sighed, his form flickering. "That swordsmanship… you're a bit of a scary one, aren't you?"

Mihawk's eyes narrowed slightly. "You talk too much."

One swing — sharp, blinding. The air itself split, forcing Borsalino to retreat in a burst of photons.

Below, Fisher Tiger launched out of the sea, his massive fist slamming into a Marine ship's deck. The wood cracked apart like splinters.

"You humans," he roared, "think you can chain the ocean itself?"

Enel grinned from above, lightning sparking around him. "This is fun."

"Focus," Ada called. "Don't get carried away."

Even amidst the chaos, her voice was calm — commanding.

Sakazuki charged forward, magma arm ready. "You think you can fight us all?"

Ada turned to face him fully, her hand gripping the hilt of her pistol. The weapon gleamed with faint silver — the surface swirling with the energy of her Pierce-Pierce Fruit.

"You talk too much," she said softly.

He launched his fist of magma, roaring. "Great Eruption!"

Ada didn't move until the last second. Her pistol rose — one shot.

The bullet glowed violet, cutting through the air like a line of light.

BOOM!

The magma fist dispersed, torn apart mid-flight. The shot pierced through the blast, grazing Sakazuki's shoulder and searing through his coat.

He gritted his teeth, stepping back in shock. "What—?"

Ada lowered her weapon. "Pierce Shot: Eclipse Vein."

Kuzan froze the sea around her in response, walls of ice erupting. But Ada simply raised her hand again — and the ice shattered before it even reached her.

Mihawk smirked from the distance. "She's not even trying."

Bullet cracked his neck. "Guess we can stop holding back, too."

The three men attacked in unison — lightning, metal, and sword slashes carving the battlefield into chaos.

Even the Vice Admirals struggled to contain the onslaught.

Sakazuki roared in frustration. "You monsters—!"

Ada turned her gaze to him, her voice almost pitying.

"Monster? No. Just free."

——————

The battle raged for what felt like hours — though it was only minutes. The sea itself shook. The remaining Marine ships tried to fire, but the crew's combined power kept them pinned down.

And then Ada finally exhaled.

Then, her voice — calm, cutting — carried across the ocean.

"Enough."

Everyone — friend and foe alike — felt it.

She aimed her pistol toward the horizon. The metal of the barrel glowed faintly violet, her Pierce Fruit power gathering in dense, vibrating energy.

"Pierce: Abyss Divide."

She fired.

For a moment, nothing happened. Then the sea itself split.

A colossal streak of violet light tore forward — so fast that even Borsalino's eyes widened. The beam cut through the waves, piercing the ocean's surface, and the sea screamed as it was torn apart.

The water on either side rose, towering hundreds of meters high — a canyon carved through the sea. Warships fell into the void, crashing and breaking apart as the light consumed them.

The sky went silent.

Only the thunder of collapsing water remained.

From the Marine flagship, officers stared in horror as ships vanished into the abyss.

"My god…"

"She split the sea… with a single shot!"

"That— that's not human!"

Sakazuki stared in disbelief. "This… this power—!"

Ada holstered her weapon. "That's the difference between us."

The Vice Admirals stood battered, their ships destroyed, but alive.

Sakazuki gritted his teeth. "All ships—retreat! Regroup behind me!"

But Ada wasn't finished.

She stepped forward, haki flaring around her like a storm. "Still think you can leash me, Marines?"

Sakazuki leapt from his ship, magma flaring from his fists. "You think you can threaten justice?! I'll burn you to ash, pirate!"

He struck down, his magma fist roaring through the air. Ada caught it — with her bare hand.

The explosion shook the sea, steam hissing between their clash. Ada's eyes gleamed with quiet, unshakable confidence.

"You're strong," she said softly. "But not enough."

She twisted her wrist, redirecting his strike into the ocean. Steam erupted violently, but before he could react, she moved — faster than his eye could follow — and struck him in the gut with a burst of armament haki, sending him flying backward into the waves.

Borsalino blurred into light, appearing behind her. "So fast~ but can you handle this?"

Ada's Observation Haki flared. She turned just as Kizaru's kick came — blocking it with a single sweep of her pistol, haki coating the barrel. Sparks exploded as light met steel.

Mihawk watched from the deck, calm as ever. "Even the three of them combined can't touch her…"

Bullet smirked. "Heh, figures. They're not her level."

Kuzan finally stepped forward, lowering his hand. "Enough. This is getting out of hand."

He touched the surface of the shattered sea — and the water froze instantly, spreading in a vast wave of ice toward the Oro Jackson.

Ada leapt from the ship, haki pulsing in concentric rings. "Pierce Art: Null Domain."

The ice shattered — not melted, not cracked, but erased, disintegrating into nothing as her attack passed through it.

She landed on the frozen water, facing all three Vice Admirals now gathered before her.

"You think this will make a difference?" Ada said quietly. "I've already seen what your justice does. Slaves. Children. Whole islands burned because someone thought freedom was a crime."

Sakazuki rose from the water, blood trickling down his chin. "And yet you call yourself free? You murder nobles and destroy fleets. You're no savior — you're chaos!"

Ada tilted her head slightly. "Maybe. But chaos doesn't kneel."

Then she moved.

The sea exploded beneath her step as she disappeared in a blur of speed. Sakazuki swung, magma roaring — Ada appeared behind him, haki-coated kick driving into his ribs. He spat blood and fell into the waves.

Kuzan tried to intercept her with an ice spear — Ada fired her pistol. The bullet pierced the weapon and grazed his cheek, shattering the ice around him.

Kizaru lunged, light flaring from his hands — Ada caught his attack with her haki-coated fingers and slammed him into the sea.

Within seconds, all three Vice Admirals were down — beaten, bloodied, stunned.

Ada stood above them, her pistol lowered but her eyes cold as the abyss.

"If I wanted you dead," she said, "you would be."

Kuzan groaned, struggling to rise. "Then why…?"

She looked at them once more. "You're too weak to kill."

She turned away, her dress whipping in the wind.

"Tell Sengoku this," she added without looking back. "Next time, send the gods themselves."

Then she turned away. "Let's go."

The Oro Jackson began to move. The sea slowly closed behind them — a scar left on the world.

The Vice Admirals watched, wordless, as the Oro Jackson sailed away — its tattered sails gleaming like wings beneath the fractured sunlight.

Sakazuki clenched his teeth, fury burning in his eyes. "She humiliated us…"

Kuzan's gaze was distant. "No. She spared us."

Borsalino let out a slow whistle. "So troublesome~ She's on a whole other level."

Marine Headquarters — Hours Later

The war room was in chaos. Papers scattered, reports flying. Officers shouted over one another until Sengoku slammed his hands against the table.

"Enough!"

Silence.

He turned to the shaken Vice Admirals standing before him on the Den Den Mushi projection. "Explain."

Sakazuki's tone was clipped, bitter. "She annihilated the fleet. Split the ocean itself. We couldn't even—"

Sengoku slammed his fist into the table. "She split the sea. The sea! What kind of power is that?!"

Sengoku's expression darkened. "You're telling me one woman destroyed ten warships and fought all three of you at once?"

Kuzan sighed. "Yeah. And she held back."

The room fell silent again.

Tsuru's voice was quiet but sharp. "If she can split the sea, she's approaching the level of the Pirate King himself."

Garp leaned back in his chair, face unreadable. "Approaching? No. She might've already passed him."

The room turned to him.

Garp frowned. "Roger laughed his way to the end. But that woman? She's building something. Every move, every strike — it's all calculated."

Tsuru leaned forward, calm but tense. "She's doing it again. Directly challenging Marine power."

Sakazuki's eyes burned through the den den mushi. "We should've crushed her the moment she raised that cursed flag again."

Borsalino exhaled lazily. "Ooh… but you saw what she did at Sabaody. Killing a Celestial Dragon? That's a declaration of war, no? How troublesome."

Aokiji frowned. "She's making enemies of everyone. Government, pirates, the whole world."

Garp grunted from the corner, arms folded. "She's not like Roger. She's colder. Every move she makes… it's for something."

Sengoku closed his eyes, his tone grim. "Then she's not just a pirate. She's a threat to the entire balance of the world."

Garp snorted, though it lacked his usual levity. "Hmph… Ada and her crew. I didn't think they'd become… this strong."

Tsuru's voice was calm, but carried an edge of disbelief. "The numbers, the power… it's staggering. The reports say Ada's Devil Fruit — the Pierce-Pierce fruit — can literally pierce the sea itself. Ships are destroyed without a trace. Haki so strong it splits the air."

Sengoku nodded gravely. "Then there's Bullet. Clank-Clank Devil Fruit. He's not just destructive; his Observation Haki allows him to predict movements almost before they happen. He's a walking arsenal."

Garp crossed his arms, his voice low. "Mihawk's swordsmanship is unmatched. And his Haki… even seasoned Marines are failing to gauge his strikes."

Tsuru's eyes widened slightly. "And… Enel." She paused, adjusting her glasses. "He's only fifteen, yet he wields the Lightning-Lighting Devil Fruit. That fruit has been lost for almost a century. How is a boy even capable of controlling such power?"

Garp's brow furrowed. "A kid? Controlling a fruit that was considered a legend? Hmph… I've seen a lot, but that's something else entirely."

Sengoku slammed a hand on the table. "This is why we cannot treat them like ordinary pirates. Only the Admirals combined are authorized to engage them. And even then… it's a battle the world may not be ready for."

Tsuru leaned forward. "And Fisher Tiger — he doesn't need a Devil Fruit to devastate fleets. One strike from him can sink a warship. If he's coordinated with the others…" Her voice trailed, disbelief clear.

Garp growled, "And don't forget Ada. She's the spark that ties them all together. A woman who's surpassed even what Roger's crew could achieve. She's… a storm waiting to sweep the seas."

Sengoku's fingers drummed on the table. "The world will need to brace for this. Their coordination, their power, their strategy… it's beyond anything we've encountered. The Nyx Pirates aren't just a crew — they're a force capable of changing the balance of the seas."

Tsuru nodded. "We'll have to issue a new bounty. One that makes the world tremble."

Sengoku's voice was low, decisive. "Spread the order. From this day forward—"

He slammed his hand on the table.

"Nyx D. Ada is to be considered as the First Emperor of the Sea."

The officers froze.

Sengoku then stared at the bounty sheets being printed. His expression hardened.

Sengoku looked out the window, toward the horizon. "It won't matter. Sooner or later, she'll fall like all the rest."

But Tsuru shook her head. "You don't understand. This isn't just another pirate. This is the dawn of something else."

————————-

Aboard the Oro Jackson

Night had fallen. The sea was calm again.

Mihawk cleaned his blade silently. Enel sat near the mast, lightning flickering faintly between his fingers. Bullet leaned against the railing, grinning. Fisher Tiger looked out at the stars, deep in thought.

Ada stood alone at the bow, wind brushing through her hair.

Mihawk finally spoke. "You spared them."

Ada didn't look back. "They weren't worth killing."

"Mercy?" he asked.

Ada's gaze stayed fixed on the horizon. "I don't need to. Their fear will spread faster than any bullet."

Bullet laughed. "You're insane, Captain."

Ada smirked faintly. "Took you long enough to notice.

Her gaze turned toward the distant stars — where Mary Geoise glittered unseen beyond the clouds.

"The world will remember this day," she whispered.

Then the Oro Jackson vanished into the night, sailing toward its next storm.
