Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 - Escape

Elsewhere on the island, chaos consumed the remaining Rocks Pirates.

Bullets, smoke, and screams filled the air.

Far from the battlefield, the survivors were still fleeing — some on ships, some through the forested cliffs.

The island burned.

Everywhere, Marines and celestial guards clashed with the scattered remnants of the Rocks Pirates.

The air was thick with smoke, screams, and the stench of gunpowder.

Near the shattered cliffs, Newgate, Kaido, and Linlin stumbled through the rubble — the sound of distant explosions echoing behind them.

"Damn it!" Kaido snarled, glancing back toward the inferno. "That blast—she was still there!"

Newgate didn't answer. His jaw was tight, his knuckles white.

Linlin's laughter had died into silence, her face hard with something that almost looked like guilt.

"Where's Ada?" a voice called out over the wind.

From the smoke emerged Shiki, his blond hair scorched, one eye bloodied but burning with defiance.

Behind him limped Captain John, clutching a wound in his side, followed by Silver Axe, Gloriosa, Stussy, and Gill Bastar, all battered and breathless.

"Where is she?" Gloriosa demanded, looking from face to face. "Tell me Ada made it out!"

Linlin turned away, scowling. "She stayed behind."

"Stayed behind?" Shiki barked, disbelief written all over his face. "You're tellin' me she fought that thing alone?!"

Kaido slammed his fist into a tree, splintering it. "We tried to get her out—she told us to run!"

Gill Bastar cursed under his breath. "Damn woman… she was always the last to leave."

Captain John staggered forward, shaking his head. "Without her… we can't regroup."

"Then we make sure her sacrifice means something," Newgate said firmly, his voice carrying even through the chaos. "Get to the ships. Now."

Stussy, usually calm and sly, looked shaken for once. "What about the captain?"

Linlin's eyes darkened. "He's gone. Whatever's fightin' up there—it ain't Rocks anymore."

A heavy silence fell over them.

Even the explosions in the distance seemed to fade for a heartbeat, replaced by the low rumble of the dying island.

Then Shiki spat on the ground. "Tch. Fine. Then we leave this place now."

Gill Bastar nodded grimly. "Aye. We'll scatter. The Marines'll be here any minute."

"Already are," Captain John muttered, pointing toward the burning treeline where shadows moved in the smoke.

Newgate took one last look toward the battlefield. He could still see the faint flicker of crimson lightning in the distance — Ada's power, still raging even as the island crumbled.

He closed his eyes briefly. "You better survive this, Crimson Shadow…"

Kaido was half-dragging Linlin, whose laughter had turned delirious.

Gloriosa supported Stussy, both covered in blood.

Then a Den Den Mushi crackled to life on a fallen Marine's corpse nearby.

"This is Fleet Admiral Kong!"

His voice echoed across the island.

"Rocks D. Xebec — has been defeated. Repeat — the Rocks Pirates are no more!"

For a long moment, no one spoke.

Only the sound of the burning island filled the air.

Kaido's expression darkened. "So that's it, huh?"

Linlin clenched her fists, teeth grinding. "MAMA MAMA… stupid fools… they think this changes anything…"

Gloriosa wiped a tear from her cheek. "He's really gone…"

Stussy said nothing — her eyes hidden behind her hair.

Newgate swung his blade, carving through Marines. "We can't stay here!"

Kaido, bleeding but alive, nodded. "Captain's gone… it's over!"

Linlin growled, her voice trembling. "Damn it… Rocks…"

Gloriosa, clutching her side, shouted, "Get the ships ready! We're leaving now!"

The crew hesitated — but they knew.

The dream of the Rocks Pirates had died that day.

Newgate turned back one last time, watching the column of smoke rising from the heart of God Valley.

His jaw tightened. "One day… I'll carry that man's will my own way."

Kaido spat, cracking his neck. "Heh. And I'll conquer the world he couldn't."

Linlin just laughed — a hollow, broken sound. "MAMA MAMA… then we'll see who's left standing."

The Rocks Pirates — what remained of them — began to flee.

Shiki led a small group down the western cliffs toward the hidden docks.

Captain John and Silver Axe carried the wounded.

Gill Bastar and Gloriosa fought off approaching Marines with what strength they had left.

Linlin stomped through the rubble, fury in every step. "Damn this island… damn this world!"

Kaido followed her, his dragon scales flickering weakly as his transformation faded. "When I'm strong enough, I'll burn the whole world for this."

"Save it for the New World," Newgate growled, keeping them moving. "This battle's already lost."

As they reached the shattered coastline, a few of the surviving ships still floated, half on fire.

Shiki barked orders. "Get the wounded aboard! We sail now!"

Marines shouted in the distance. Cannon fire lit the horizon.

Stussy turned one last time toward the ruins of God Valley.

Through the smoke, she thought she saw it — a flash of red. A figure still standing against the storm.

"…Ada," she whispered.

Linlin scoffed. "That woman never knew when to quit."

But her tone wasn't cruel — just tired. Almost… respectful.

The ships began to pull away, the sea swallowing the wreckage of the greatest pirate crew in history.

Behind them, the island of God Valley groaned and cracked as if the world itself wanted to bury its sins.

As the Den Den Mushi crackled one last time, Kong's voice carried a chilling decree.

"Erase God Valley from all records. No one will speak of this place again."

And so the world turned its back on the island —

while those who survived scattered into legend.

Newgat set his course for the New World, his heart heavy but his resolve firm.

Kaido vanished into the shadows, his lust for power only growing.

Linlin plans to build her empire, louder and crueler than ever.

Gloriosa fled to Amazon Lily, carrying Shakky's name on her lips.

Above them all, the last light of God Valley flickered and died.

The age of Rocks was over.

But in the hearts of those who lived —

his will, and his monsters, endured.

As the sun finally rose, the fires died.

Roger and Garp stood among the ruins, silent.

Roger exhaled slowly. "It's over."

Garp shook his head. "No… it's just beginning."

Above them, the sky cleared — as if the world itself sighed in relief.

But deep beneath the surface, something ancient still stirred.

A whisper echoed faintly on the wind.

"The age of gods… has only just begun."
