Both followed Evo as he walked toward the kitchen, where the versions of them from that world were.
Evo approached the two women washing the dishes while the other finished her coffee.
He greeted them, showering them with affection and gentle touches.
The real Ravina and Freya watched the scene, unsure of how to feel.
They didn't know whether they should enjoy that moment… or die of embarrassment.
Both reached the same thought.
– We look like we're married to him!
Freya muttered, not taking her eyes off their copies.
Ravina beside her, poor thing, turned even redder at the comment.
– Freya, don't say nonsense!
She grabbed her friend's arm, and Freya found her reaction adorably cute.
– What can I say? – Freya shrugged. – It kind of does look like it.
Their playful moment was cut short when they noticed something strange about Evo.
He had grown pale and was trying to hide it from the two women.
Freya's copy asked, worried:
– Ev, are you alright? You're pale!
Evo just nodded faintly, supporting himself discreetly on the counter.
– I am. Just a bit sleepy still, don't worry.
– I'll go wash my face.
He walked off toward the bathroom.
The original Ravina and Freya, who followed him floating, narrowed their eyes.
– That was strange.
– I agree.
Ravina nodded, watching Evo enter the bathroom in a staggering manner.
– We should follow. He's really pale, and he looked panicked.
Freya raised her hand.
– But what if he's naked again?
– And does that matter right now?!
Ravina panicked, but Freya didn't care at all—she simply grabbed her friend and dragged her along as they floated to the bathroom.
When they arrived, the sight before them made their hearts sink.
Evo was leaning over the sink, breathing heavily, his breaths short and rapid.
He was sweating profusely and splashing water onto his face.
His hands shook so violently that the water sprayed across the mirror.
– What's happening to Eylam?
– H-he looks awful!
Ravina panicked and tried to approach him.
She attempted to hold his head for support, but just like before with Freya, her hand passed right through him.
Then both heard the Goddess's voice echo in their minds:
– YOU TWO CANNOT INTERFERE.
– YOU MAY ONLY WATCH.
– THIS IS AN ECHO OF WHAT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED.
– A RECORDING.
– S-so we can't do anything?
Freya practically stated it more than asked.
Her eyes trembled as she watched Evo in such a weakened state.
She also remembered the way she had looked at him earlier…
How she and Ravina had treated him…
How he pretended everything was fine, when clearly it wasn't.
Freya lowered her head, covering part of her face with her hand.
– Hahahah… of course he was hurt!
Ravina looked at her, surprised at her strange tone, but had no time to question it—Evo's voice drew both their attention.
Har! Har! Har!
– What's happening to me?
– This feeling that something is wrong… it's pounding in my chest.
– Something is very wrong, but I don't know what!
He muttered with difficulty, his body trembling.
Freya narrowed her eyes.
– He hasn't realized that living like this with us is suspicious.
– But… why hasn't he noticed?
She wondered, lost in thoughts she didn't yet understand.
Soon the door opened, and Ravina's copy walked in.
– Eylam, are you alright?
The originals watched the scene.
Evo reassured Ravina's version, caressing her cheeks and accepting her touches with a faint smile.
The real Ravina froze in shock.
– W-what am I doing?!
Freya absolutely loved seeing her friend so flustered and whispered teasingly:
– Maybe this is a preview of our future.
Ravina froze on the spot.
– Eh?!
It was all she managed to say.
They continued observing Evo's day until the time of the ball.
The two floated beside him as he headed to the hall, fully dressed for the event.
– So this is how he learned about the ball?
– Looks like we were the ones who told him.
Freya commented while watching the students.
Ravina added:
– Our copies told him this morning. He got confused… but hid it well.
– Well, it's no surprise. Evo had no idea this was happening.
– But… you know, everything here is really strange.
Ravina said, noticing a detail.
– You noticed too?
– Yes.
– We're still at the beginning of Evo's first year at the academy.
– Meaning… the current date of the real world.
Ravina concluded, and Freya nodded.
– Anyway. The Goddess said she would explain later. Let's just observe everything.
When they arrived at the hall, the ball began.
The two watched Evo throughout the entire event.
Every gesture, every expression, every detail.
Him picking food.
Finding a quiet corner.
The moment alone with Freya's copy.
The invitation to dance.
And now he was dancing with that world's Freya.
– Evo dances really well! – Freya said, smiling.
– You look pleased. – Ravina replied.
Freya was about to answer, but Evo suddenly stopped dancing, a scowl on his face.
He felt around his own body as if searching for something.
Ravina frowned.
– Why is he acting like that?
As if he had heard her, Evo said to Freya's copy:
– Freya, something's wrong!
– Did you feel it, Ev?
– Yes. My power… my abilities… they're gone!
Freya's copy corrected him:
– Actually, they're not gone. They were sealed.
The originals snapped to attention.
– Sealed?
Ravina whispered.
Freya, watching in silence, felt a chill run down her spine.
– Ravina.
She tugged on her friend's shirt.
– What is it, Freya?
Freya looked at her with panic in her eyes.
– Do you remember Evo's last warning before he left?
Ravina touched her chin, remembering:
"Let me give you one last warning. They will attack the ball you two are organizing."
Ravina turned to Freya with the same alarmed expression.
– The Wanderers!
– They're here!
Both said in unison, as once again Evo's words proved themselves true.
