"Fuuu…" A sharp exhale came from the Sergeant, who moved in first, foregoing his rifle and instead drawing the knife sheathed on his belt.
As he bent his knees, his calves commanded enhanced strength. He pushed off the ground, dashing in like a lunging serpent.
Right past the lifeform, he moved with his humming knife leading the way. As he ended behind the Regenerator, its head flew from its shoulders.
While the alien was left beheaded, it remained upright, leaving the onlooking shoulders in dismay. The member that lost his arm cried out, dropping to the ground as blood squirted on the floor.
"Don't let up!" The Sergeant shouted.
From all sides, the enhanced soldiers passed by, delivering cuts to the invader's body. As the Russian giant stomped past, he swung the knife like a greatsword, flinging the entity's arm from its body.
With quick steps, Boar slid on his knee, cutting away one of the lifeform's legs, yet—
Left amputated and headless, the being from another world convulsed. A hiss like steam escaping a teapot emitted from its body as its entire physique rippled. Its flesh extended from the points of amputation, intertwining and building into shape. Within seconds, it was as good as new.
"Shit…even from that?!" Boar grunted.
"I was hoping it'd work, but never that simple," Bear buffed.
All eyes watched the Regenerator like a hawk as it stood there with its arms limp at its sides. The unusual flesh of the creature pulsated, bearing a yellow glow within its malleable shell like that of a shining heartbeat.
"Switch to your pulse grenades!" The Sergeant shouted, foregoing his knife for a more explosive option on his belt.
As the order was given, the undying lifeform's right arm extended unnaturally, growing to many meters in an instant.
"Duck!"
There was only a split-second to react as the elongated limb was swung around, completely cutting through the cubicles around it.
"Ngh!—"
"Gaaaah!"
A weapon of destruction; the limb cut right through one soldier, leaving the top half completely separated from the bottom.
"Iguana!" Bear shouted, picking his big body off the ground, reeling the grenade in his hand back. "Son of a bitch!"
The spherical contraption of white-and-blue still had its button pressed before being tossed by the burly soldier. It automatically extended prongs, stabbing into the back of the lifeform to anchor itself to its flesh before—
"Get to cover!"
The Sergeant quickly slid himself behind one of the pale walls of a cubicle as the grenade detonated. There was no response from the Regenerator before the explosive beeped, releasing a pulse that rippled through the target's body.
It emitted with a high frequency before expelling outward, pushing a force away that tossed the closest offices into the air.
The emission distorted the concept of sound, only leaving a light "buzz" humming in the air afterwards. As the leader of the operation caught his breath, he picked himself up carefully as the office was left in a haze of dust.
"Is everyone alright? Still in one piece?" Fang asked, attempting to see through the kicked-up fog.
Beneath a stack of crumbled, plastic stands, the Russian soldier huffed, tossing them off his body, "Internal bleeding…little issue for Bear."
Against the wall adjacent to the entrance, the short-statured southern man huffed, tugging his mask down to catch his breath, "Ain't got the air kicked out of me like that since riding bulls. Sheesh…"
The Sergeant confirmed the alive-ness of his comrades before carefully stepping forward. A smear of blue paste was left on the burnt tiles, the only remnants of the horrific entity.
He reached for the communication device on his helmet, speaking to it, "Pulse grenade is able to neutralize the Class-B Regenerator upon direct contact—"
Before he could fully relay the message, he witnessed the scattered flesh suddenly converge in front of him. As if summoned by an unseen singularity, the irregular tissue reconnected, rebuilding what was turned to little more than paste.
"It's still alive?!" Fang shouted, raising his gun.
"Shit…!" Bear grunted.
Within mere moments, the man-hunter was rebuilt, standing anew without a blemish upon its grotesque form. The imposing lifeform stood there, yet it didn't take a step–squelch.
It dropped down with a completely limp body, with the short-statured soldier standing behind it, holding the now empty needle in his glove.
Boar caught his breath as his blonde hair was draped over his face, tossing the empty syringe, "And stay down, fucker."
"Paralix virus deployed…Success," Fang relayed to his communicator.

The footage reached its end, prompting the projector to retract into the ceiling. There was silence between the students as the Professor stood there. Seven stared at the unmoving lifeform held in the container, now seeing the lives it had taken, what it was capable of.
"I'm sure you're all aware of the capabilities of UNED's Evo-Soldiers. Even prepared, there were three casualties," Professor Fuchs explained. "That's the danger of just one Regenerator."
"There wasn't a safer way to conduct testing?" May questioned. "Doing it out on the field, in lost territory…"
The Professor pushed his glasses up, "Unfortunately, UNED doesn't have that privilege. This is the first and only Regenerator that has been brought back so far."
The lesson continued with a rather unpleasant breakdown of the alien creature's anatomy, which the Professor explained with some enthusiasm. It seemed there was no time wasted in gathering intense information on every bit of the Regenerator's body, though for Seven, he felt he was out of his depth.
"Having trouble keeping up?" The girl beside him whispered, tilting her head to try and look at his face.
He nodded, "Yeah, a bit…a lot."
"Well, you'll get the hang of all of it," May quietly laughed. "Just don't slack off like that guy."
Following where she pointed her finger, Seven looked over, finding Shin completely asleep while upright.
'That's actually impressive,' he thought.
A pen soaring through the room collided right with the tired student's forehead, snapping Shin from his quick nap.
"Fall asleep again and the next thing I'm throwing is a scalpel," Professor Fuchs threatened.
"…Noted," Shin sighed, rubbing his forehead.
["Evo-Soldiers": Each recruit of UNED is tested after passing their physicals. If they have an O-positive or O-negative blood type, they're eligible for the Evo Program.
