Chapter 36 - Bab 36

"Ge… I've prepared the contract for Miss Xiao," Jiang Fan said with a faint yawn, a bite of bread still lodged in his mouth.

Yu Chen settled onto the edge of the table, accepting the lease map Jiang Fan handed over with a movement that was calm, elegant, and filled with crisp precision. He quickly scanned the location, size, and condition of the residence, every detail reviewed with the meticulous scrutiny of a CEO.

"This… is for you," Yu Chen stated, presenting the map to Xiaoxi. His hand remained steady, the gesture neat and decisive, conveying that all decisions had been thoroughly pre-calculated.

Xiaoxi stared at the map, her eyes widening. "Eh… this… for me?" she murmured, her tone a mix of shock and curiosity. She held her breath for a beat, her body stiffening slightly, fingers still lightly gripping the paper.

Yu Chen met her gaze with a cold, composed expression, yet behind that composure was a reassuring stillness.

"I want you to have your own place. I've ensured it is comfortable and safe. There is nothing for you to worry about."

Xiaoxi remained silent, trying to process Yu Chen's words. Her chest fluttered softly as her eyes traced his gestures rarely gentle, yet undeniably dominant. She was still speechless, only able to gaze at the map in surprise, slowly beginning to grasp his intention.

Jiang Fan, sitting beside them, observed the interaction with a faint smile. He knew this moment was significant, not just about the lease, but about Yu Chen's attention conveyed with such quiet professionalism.

Xiaoxi took the map with a faint tremor in her hand, her eyes scanning every neat line and inscription. "Hehh… what is this, exactly?" she whispered, the sound barely audible to herself.

Slowly, she opened the contract page by page. Xiaoxi's eyes widened at the first few lines: "Personal Assistant to Wei Yu Chen X Dragon Studio."

"Eh… is this… serious? I'm… becoming Wei Yu Chen's personal assistant?!" she thought, her heart hammering a frantic blend of shock, amusement, and a slight fear. Her hand went to her hip for a moment before she sank dramatically into the chair, eyes fixed on the contract as if the world had momentarily ground to a halt.

She bit her lower lip, then raised a hand to cover her mouth, stifling a burst of laughter. "No… no… this… this means I'm still working with Chenxi She, too?! Insane! So now I have… two masters?!" Her voice was a mere squeak, yet the shock, the hilarity, and the sheer semi-panic were palpable.

Xiaoxi bowed her head, let out a deep sigh, and then lifted her gaze back to Yu Chen, who sat calmly opposite her, his expression cold yet simultaneously reassuring and asserting his complete dominance.

"How can he be so nonchalant?!" Xiaoxi muttered internally, examining every contour of Yu Chen's face. Her small hand tapped the contract as if trying to contain her disbelief. "This… this isn't corporate slavery anymore; this is being a devil's slave residing in the CEO king's palace!" she thought with perfect dramatic flair, her body slightly bowed but retaining an elegant posture.

Xiaoxi then looked back at the work map, her fingers tracing the location of the X Dragon Studio office. She murmured, slightly flexing her knee, "I… I have to go here? As his personal assistant?! Crazy, this is… utterly insane!"

A small laugh escaped her faint yet vibrant with absurdity, amusement, panic, and overwhelming astonishment. Xiaoxi's gaze returned to Yu Chen, who sat composed, hands folded, his expression cold yet captivating.

"Hhh… why can this man sit so comfortably? While I… I could explode because of this contract?" she murmured again, then dramatically patted her own chest, signifying her turbulent mix of emotions.

She placed the contract on the table and looked around the room the lavish, modern view of Yu Chen's chamber, with soft light reflecting off the glass walls, adding to the drama of the situation. Every detail made Xiaoxi feel trapped inside a movie scene, where she was the main character forced to confront a reality that was both absurd and high-class.

"Oh God… this… I have to be Wei Yu Chen's personal assistant?!" she whispered again, this time with more panic, covering her face with both hands, yet maintaining the elegant posture of a premium heroine in a top-tier novel.

Xiaoxi was still seated at the dining table, the contract Yu Chen gave her tightly grasped in her hand. Yu Chen stood beside her, his expression still cold, his steps firm as he presented the document. "See for yourself," he said briefly, his voice low and firm, carrying an aura of authority that momentarily silenced Xiaoxi.

Xiaoxi slowly opened the contract, her eyes instantly falling on the salary figure. In a flash, she swallowed, her eyes widening. "Three times… Chenxi She's… hahahaha… yes… yes, this is serious, right?" she muttered, half-panic, half-awe. Her small hand gripped the contract tightly, almost trembling from the mix of amazement and hilarity.

Yu Chen said no more. He simply looked at Xiaoxi with a cold expression, his posture straight, as if conveying: "The contract is clear. The choice is yours." Then, without another word, he strode toward the bedroom, leaving Xiaoxi rooted to the spot, her eyes still glued to the salary figure.

"Eh… triple the amount… hahahaha… that's insane! Who would refuse this? Being a devil's slave is fine, then… hihihi…" Xiaoxi muttered to herself, chewing her lower lip, her expression absurd yet still sweet. Xiaoxi's money-hungry eyes sparkled, filled with small calculations, but she maintained the elegant appearance of a clever woman.

On the other side, Yu Chen had already entered the room, his steps firm and cold, leaving the dining table with an aura that made Xiaoxi slightly tremble a blend of amusement, admiration, and a faint flutter in her chest. The dining room was silent now, save for the soft rustle of the contract she slowly flipped and Xiaoxi's rapid breathing, still quickened by her mix of enthusiasm and curiosity.

Xiaoxi offered a small smile, closed the contract, and gripped it again. "Hhh… being Yu Chen's devil's slave… but… triple the salary… hahahaha… that's certainly worth considering… who would refuse that?" she murmured inwardly, her eyes still fixed on the direction of Yu Chen's room, where she had just seen his cold yet mesmerizing figure.

Jiang Fan stared at his laptop screen for a moment, his fingers still dancing on the keyboard. "Sign it quickly, Miss Xiao," he said in a casual tone, but with a subtle pressure that made Xiaoxi feel as if she were confronting something vital and serious.

Xiaoxi bit her lower lip, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. With a slight tremor, she signed the employment contract, every line of her signature feeling like a giant step in her life. "Okay… it's done. Well, that's that," Xiaoxi muttered with a long sigh, feeling proud of herself.

However, Jiang Fan lifted his gaze from the laptop screen, his eyes serious but calm. "That's not all, Miss Xia. It's not just about reading and signing the contract. You must reside here, 24 hours a day. You will be serving Yu Chen—after all, you are his personal assistant," Jiang Fan stated in a cold yet firm tone, as if announcing an unchangeable fact.

Instantly, Xiaoxi's expression changed drastically. Her face, which had been bright with enthusiasm, suddenly went slack, her eyes widened, and she nearly collapsed back into the dining chair. "What?! Wait… wait… 24 hours? Serving… Yu Chen… I… I…" Her words stumbled out, her small hand covering her mouth as if trying to swallow the reality that had just descended upon her.

She stared at Jiang Fan with wide, startled eyes, her body almost motionless, utterly drained of energy. Her lips trembled, and her eyes held a combination of fear, shock, and a hint of absurdity. "No… no way… this… this… this is seriously happening, isn't it?" Xiaoxi muttered to herself, looking at the contract in her hand, then back at Jiang Fan, hoping for a miracle that would revoke the announcement.

Jiang Fan remained seated calmly, unfazed by the drama of Xiaoxi's reaction. He merely let out a long sigh, looked at Xiaoxi for a moment, then spoke in a voice that was soft yet decidedly cold: "I'm not joking, Miss Xia. This is all to ensure Yu Chen can focus on his work, and you will be the proper aide for him. There is no other option.

But don't worry, I've prepared everything to make you comfortable."

Xiaoxi was still frozen, her body half-slumped in the chair, her hand gripping the contract as if it could shield her from a world that had suddenly become more intense and bewildering. Her eyes glanced at the floor, then the laptop screen, then back to Jiang Fan. She took a deep breath, trying to accept the reality, but couldn't suppress the amused smile that unexpectedly crept onto her face.

"Ahhh… so this is what it feels like… to be… Yu Chen's personal assistant… hahahaha… my life is officially… insane!" Xiaoxi muttered internally, her expression a riot of shock, hilarity, and a touch of madness. She bent her head, holding back the laughter that threatened to burst out, while Jiang Fan merely smiled faintly, pleased to see Xiaoxi's naturally adorable, characteristic reaction.

The dining table was silent for a moment, save for the ticking of the clock and Xiaoxi's still-stunned breathing. Xiaoxi's world had just changed, and without her realizing it, her first step toward living with Yu Chen had begun with a contract that left her both weak and intrigued.
