Uchiha Fugaku didn't react much at first when Uchiha Arata revealed his Mangekyō Sharingan.
In Fugaku's mind, Arata trusted him enough to give his life for him if needed, so he never worried Arata would harm him.
But after hearing Arata's words, Fugaku finally noticed that Arata's Mangekyō Sharingan looked different from before.
The pattern was not only more detailed but also far more complex.
If one looked carefully, there was even a faint sense of pressure coming from it.
Fugaku stared into Arata's eyes. Suddenly, as if he realized something unbelievable, his expression collapsed. Shock filled his entire face, and his pupils shrank dramatically. He blurted out:
"Is that… the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan?!"
Arata didn't expect Fugaku to recognize it so quickly, though considering the stone tablet in Nanga Shrine.....and the fact that Fugaku himself possessed the Mangekyō.....it wasn't surprising he figured it out.
Since Fugaku had already guessed the truth, Arata didn't bother hiding it. He nodded directly, admitting it.
Fugaku's shock only grew. In his understanding, there was only one way to evolve a Mangekyō into an Eternal Mangekyō:
You must transplant the Mangekyō eyes of your closest blood relative who has gone blind.
Only that would eliminate the side effects.
But Arata was an orphan. He had no siblings, not even parents left.
Under these conditions, it made no sense he could silently gain an Eternal Mangekyō. Fugaku simply couldn't understand it.
Arata glanced at Fugaku and asked:
"You've seen the stone tablet in Nanga Shrine, right?"
Fugaku didn't know why Arata asked, but he still answered honestly:
"Yes, I've read it. The method to evolve the Mangekyō was written there.
But I couldn't see the later parts....probably because my eyes weren't advanced enough."
As he spoke, Fugaku looked again at Arata's Eternal Mangekyō.
Arata obviously understood what Fugaku was thinking. He waved his hand and said:
"Forget what's written on the stone tablet. The information is true, but mostly misleading. And it's incomplete."
Fugaku grew even more shocked.
"That stone tablet is a treasure of our Uchiha clan.
It's been passed down since the clan first appeared in the ninja world. How could its records be wrong?"
Arata stared at him....the same way Madara had once been deceived by the same tablet.
He sighed, then pointed to his own eyes.
"I didn't say it's wrong. I said it's incomplete.
And the method written there for evolving the Mangekyō is a crooked path.
My Eternal Mangekyō is proof. I didn't have any blood relatives to donate eyes to me.
Everything I achieved came from my own research."
As Arata spoke, he suddenly remembered something.
He slapped his forehead, then pulled out a scroll from his space and tossed it to Fugaku.
"This scroll is something passed down in our clan. I found inspiration from it, which helped me discover the real way to evolve into the Eternal Mangekyō."
Fugaku quickly opened the scroll. Over the years, the side effects of his Mangekyō had caused him constant suffering.
Recently, he learned that Itachi had awakened the Mangekyō as well.
He was proud of his son's talent, but the pressure to find a safe evolution method was immense.
He had two sons....but only one pair of Mangekyō eyes.
If Sasuke awakened his Mangekyō someday, would he be forced to watch one of his children go blind?
The scroll wasn't long, and Fugaku finished reading it quickly.
But after reading it, he looked lost. He raised his head, confused:
"This scroll talks about our clan's origin and the life of our ancestor Indra. I've known these things since childhood.
There's nothing here about evolving the Mangekyō."
Arata snatched the scroll back, irritated.
"That's exactly the problem.
We think we already know everything, so we don't question it.
Look...Indra had no sibling. (He refused to acknowledge Asura because of their conflict.)
Yet Indra never went blind, not even in old age.
What does that mean?"
Fugaku answered instinctively:
"Of course Indra had the Eternal Mangekyō"
He suddenly stopped mid-sentence.
A realization hit him like lightning.
"Eternal Mangekyō… Eternal Mangekyō…
No siblings… no siblings…"
Then he snapped his head toward Arata, staring at him intensely.
The shock even made his Sharingan open on its own.
Arata saw that Fugaku had finally understood and didn't mind his abrupt behavior.
"I got inspiration from that.
Indra was talented and powerful, but he had no brother.
So how did he evolve his Mangekyō?
That's where I started.
After many experiments, I finally evolved my Mangekyō into the Eternal Mangekyō."
Arata paused, then continued:
"When my Sharingan evolved from three tomoe to Mangekyō, it wasn't just my chakra and mental power that surged....
my yin attribute also increased dramatically.
And as my Susanoo grew stronger, my yin attribute kept rising.
So I formed a bold theory...."
