#4944. Head
Jona followed the sound and finally located its source in a sewer ditch in Grant Park where water usually flows.
The sound was coming from inside, and Jona looked hesitantly at the dark sewer.
"Louis, is that you? Are you inside?"
Jona asked tentatively.
A response came quickly; it was indeed a man's voice coming from inside.
"Yes, it's me, it's Louise, Jona, please help me, I'm trapped inside and can't get out."
The voice was very anxious and flustered, as if it was because the darkness of the sewer made it impossible for the person to remain calm.
But Jona felt something was off. Why was Louis in the sewers? Hadn't he gone home? And he'd gotten home before her.
She asked tentatively, "Can I see your face?"
"No, Jona, my hand is stuck, I can't see you. You have to come a little closer so I can see you."
"Please! Jona, save me, please!"
Louis's voice sounded so real and anxious that Jona believed him even more.
Although that eerie feeling lingered in Jona's heart, her concern for her childhood sweetheart ultimately overcame the slight worry in her heart.
So Jona slowly approached the dark crevice in the sewer. The crevice wasn't very big, but it seemed just big enough for a seven or eight-year-old child to fall in. Of course, some thin girls could also fall in.
However, Jona didn't care about any of that. She moved closer to see if Louis was really inside and repeatedly emphasized, "Louis, are you there? I'm coming over. It's me, Jona. Let me see your face."
As Jona approached, in the dim light, she could almost see a pair of weak eyes in the sewer. They were Louis's, filled with exhaustion and panic; he was truly trapped inside.
How did he manage that? How did Louis get into such a tiny gap?
This doesn't make any sense at all. Didn't Louis go home?
Jona didn't notice that many red balloons had gradually appeared behind her from nowhere. The red balloons were gently blown by a mysterious breeze and slowly floated over.
Strangely, instead of taking off, the balloons remained in place, swaying in the wind.
Now that they had confirmed that Louis was in the sewer, Jona decided to rescue him, but she didn't know what to do or what a good idea could be.
Louise was still anxiously urging, "Jona, help me, please help me! I'm in so much pain, my hand is stuck."
"Okay, Louis, be quiet, I'm thinking of something!"
But what useful ideas could a high school girl come up with? This is a park, and it's almost 10:30. Even if people weren't out for a walk recently because of some incident, you should have been home by now. Besides, because of the gang, many people are going home early and not coming out anymore.
Jona was now in a dilemma. She paced back and forth, completely at a loss for what to do and unable to come up with a useful solution!
Right, calling the police is the only way.
Jona searched her entire body, only to realize that she hadn't brought her phone. She remembered—she had forgotten to take her phone.
Damn it, what should we do? The only solution has been lost.
"Louis, where's your phone? Do you still have your phone?"
Jona shouted into the sewer.
"Jona, my phone is still here, it still has power, I can make calls."
Louis gave Jona a definite answer, which finally relieved Jona. It was good that she hadn't completely given up hope; there was still a way, there was still a way.
"Louis, call the police station right now. Only the police can get you out of here."
"No, my hand is stuck and injured, and I can't use my other hand either, so I can't type out the phone number at all."
Louis said weakly, and then asked Jona, "Jona, come a little closer, I'll hand you the phone, you can make the call, I really don't have the strength to press the keypad to make a call."
Jona walked over without hesitation: "Okay, Louis, hand me the phone, I'll make the call."
Since the sewer ditch was on the ground, Jona had to squat down and lean over to look inside.
It was pitch black inside, except for Louis's eyes, which were still bright. However, there was now a bright spot: the light from a cell phone screen. Louis seemed to be handing the phone to Jona, but he was too far from the exit to reach it. Jona had to squat down even lower and reach into the sewer to take the phone.
But she was still just a little too close to reach it. Jona had no choice but to squat down even lower, almost touching the ground, and reach her hands down the drain, trying to grab the phone.
Finally, she caught it, but not the phone; another pair of hands grabbed hers, and those hands were very strong, icy cold, and had a rough, frictiony feel.
Whose hand is this? It's definitely not Louis's hand. Jona suddenly felt terrified as the hand began to pull her forcefully into the sewer.
Jona struggled with all her might, but thankfully, although her body was also thin, she was able to barely resist the pull of that hand, because the other hand was braced against the edge of the outside staircase!
"No, no, who are you? Let me go! You're not Louis! Where is Louis?"
"No, I am Louis, your beloved Louis, Jona!"
The deep voice carried a triumphant laugh. The hands that had been holding Jona extended further, grabbing Jona's hands as if trying to pull her completely into the sewer pipe.
With the help of the light, Jona was able to see clearly who was inside!
It was a clown in a red and white costume, with a hideous face, pure white paint, and yellow pupils, which instilled in Jona a fear she would never forget for the rest of her life.
This is a monster. It has countless arms. It even killed Louis. That was Louis's head; the body had already been eaten.
"Yes, yes, that's the fear. I am the Joker, the Dancing Joker. Be afraid! I will eat all the kids in Gotham City one by one!"
