Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: An Angry Bulma

The Briefs' estate was immersed in the quiet of the early morning, with sunlight casting warm patches of light on the floor through the gaps in the curtains.

Whitley and Bulma were asleep in each other's arms, their breathing even and deep.

For once, Whitley hadn't woken up early to go to the gravity room, enjoying a rare moment of laziness in bed.

However, this tranquility didn't last long.

Bang bang bang! Bang bang bang!

A series of rapid and forceful knocks, like firecrackers, exploded outside the bedroom door!

"Whitley! Are you up yet! Are you up? Whitley! Bang bang bang!"

Goku's energetic, loud voice and the thunderous knocking penetrated the door panel, pouring directly into their ears.

"Mmm..."

Annoyed by the noise, Bulma frowned, mumbled discontentedly, and instinctively burrowed deeper into Whitley's embrace, burying her face in his chest.

Whitley was jolted awake. The sleepiness in his eyes instantly vanished, and a vein throbbed involuntarily at his temple.

He carefully extracted the arm Bulma was using as a pillow, sat up gently, and looked at Bulma, who was now awake, looking dazed and wrinkling her delicate brow. He whispered, "It's okay, you go back to sleep. I'll go see what this damn dog wants so early in the morning."

His voice was filled with irritation.

Bulma nodded groggily, and like a sleepy kitten, she pulled the covers over her head and sank back into dreamland.

Radiating a low-pressure aura, Whitley yanked open the door.

Outside, Goku's face, filled with excitement, came into view.

"Whitley! I got stronger! That iron house of yours is so useful! I feel..."

Goku couldn't wait to share the results of his training, chattering away non-stop.

Without a word, Whitley shot out a hand like lightning and accurately pinched Goku's chubby cheek, giving it a hard twist!

"Ow!" Goku cried out in pain, but the excitement on his face didn't diminish, as if he were already used to this form of "greeting" from Whitley.

"You damn dog! What do you want, disturbing people's sleep so early in the morning?!" Whitley asked in a low, fierce voice.

"I got stronger, Whitley!"

Goku paid no mind to his pinched cheek, his voice still booming. "Really! That iron house is amazing! Punching in there feels completely different!"

Looking at Goku's excited face, Whitley felt his temples throb.

He simply grabbed the back of Goku's collar and, like carrying a restless puppy, dragged him to the spacious living room and tossed him onto the sofa.

"Alright, alright! Shut up! I'm going to wash up first! We can talk after I'm done!"

Whitley said irritably, turning towards the bathroom and muttering to himself, "Honestly, it's just getting a little stronger. Is it worth getting this excited? Earth country bumpkin..."

He seemed to have forgotten the excitement he himself had felt when he had just gotten a little stronger, and his desire to share it with someone. It was just that back then, on Planet Vegeta, there was no one suitable to talk to.

Just as he entered the bathroom, Goku's voice followed him. "Whitley! I'm so hungry! I haven't eaten since I started training last night!"

Whitley paused, rolled his eyes in resignation, and shouted towards the living room, "I know! Just wait!"

He then used the smart home system to instruct the robot butler to prepare a sumptuous breakfast before starting to wash up with a yawn.

By the time he returned to the living room, refreshed after washing up, Goku was already seated at the huge dining table, launching a whirlwind assault on the table full of food.

Watching his exaggerated eating style and the rapidly disappearing mountain of food, Whitley rubbed his own stomach. Although he wasn't very hungry, having just woken up...

"Might as well," he muttered, pulling out a chair and joining the battle.

The commotion of the two of them feasting alerted Mrs. Brief, who was in the garden carefully tending to her flowers and small animals.

She put down her small gardening shears and walked into the dining room curiously.

"Ara~ Such a big appetite so early in the morning, little Whitley-poo?"

Mrs. Brief looked at the spectacular scene on the table with a smile, her gaze then falling on the unfamiliar Goku. "And who is this cute little one?"

After swallowing the food in his mouth, Whitley introduced him. "Morning, Mrs. Brief. This is Goku, a friend Bulma and I met when we were searching for the Dragon Balls."

"Ara~ So it's Goku-chan!"

Mrs. Brief immediately showed great enthusiasm, leaning close to Goku. Watching his hearty eating style, she couldn't help but ruffle his spiky hair. "How cute! Eat a lot, okay? We still have plenty of food in the house!"

Goku's mouth was stuffed, and he mumbled an indistinct reply, "Mmm-hmm! Thank you, big sister!"

"Big sister?" Mrs. Brief was stunned for a moment, then burst into a fit of giggles at the unexpected address, unable to stop laughing.

"Oh my, what a sweet-talker! You really know what to say!"

Whitley watched from the side, secretly alarmed. "Good kid! He understands people so well! This child is terrifyingly astute!"

The astonishingly lavish breakfast finally came to an end.

Whitley took Goku to the gravity room in the backyard.

"How many times gravity can you handle now?" Whitley asked.

Goku counted on his fingers seriously before saying, "Five times!"

Whitley nodded and entered a command on the control panel. "Vmmm..."

The lights inside the gravity room dimmed slightly, and an invisible pressure instantly enveloped the entire space.

To Whitley, this amount of gravity was like a gentle breeze.

He looked at Goku and saw that he was still standing straight, his breathing still steady. He had clearly completely adapted to the five-times gravity environment.

"Not bad," a hint of approval flashed in Whitley's eyes. "To be able to stably adapt to five times gravity in one day, you really are something, Kakarot."

Goku grinned at the praise and rubbed his fists together excitedly. "Come on, Whitley! Let's have a match! I want to see how big the gap is between us!"

"Mm... alright, let's give it a try."

Whitley didn't waste any words. He walked to the center of the room, crossed his arms, and lifted his chin slightly, perfectly replicating the "I'm invincible" posturing of the future Vegeta from his memory.

He beckoned to Goku with a finger. "Come at me with all you've got. Let me see your progress, Goku!"

Goku's eyes focused, and he immediately assumed the classic opening stance of the Turtle School.

"Here I come! Ha!" He shouted, his body moving like lightning, a straight punch aimed at Whitley's face!

Whitley stood his ground, not moving an inch, and casually raised a hand to accurately catch Goku's swift punch.

With a slight exertion of his wrist, he sent Goku flying like a sandbag!

"Use your real strength! You damn dog, still holding back in front of me?" Whitley's voice was tinged with exasperation.

Goku did an agile flip in the air and landed. The relaxed expression on his face was gone, replaced by a serious one.

He didn't probe any further, his speed exploding in an instant!

Countless afterimages of his fists rained down on Whitley like a storm, accompanied by shouts of "Atatatata!"

Whitley's lips curved slightly. "That's more like it."

He remained in the same spot, his body swaying like a phantom, his feet not even moving an inch.

Every one of Goku's punches missed, grazing his clothes but never touching him!

Seeing Whitley so easily dodge his all-out attack, Goku gritted his teeth and shouted, "Afterimage Technique!"

Swish swish swish!

In an instant, seven or eight afterimages of Goku appeared around Whitley, all attacking at once! A blur of real and fake, enough to dazzle any ordinary opponent.

Whitley didn't even bother to distinguish between them, his tone tinged with disappointment. "Seriously, Goku? You think you can fool me with this little trick?"

As he spoke, the real Goku had silently circled behind him!

Goku clasped his hands together, a glint of excitement flashing in his eyes.

Taking advantage of Whitley's apparent focus on the afterimages in front, he shouted, "Rock, Paper, Scissors... HAAA!!!"

A punch, imbued with most of his strength, smashed towards the back of Whitley's head!

However, it was as if Whitley had eyes in the back of his head.

He didn't even turn around. He just casually tilted his head to the side, and the fierce force of the blow whistled past his ear!

At the same time, his right leg shot up towards the Goku behind him in a lightning-fast scorpion kick!

"Pow!"

The kick landed squarely on the head of Goku, who was momentarily stunned by his missed attack!

"Yah—!" Goku didn't even have time to block. He cried out as he was sent flying backward like a kite with its string cut, tumbling several times on the ground.

"So... so strong!" Goku clutched his dizzy head and climbed up, wincing.

He rubbed his stinging cheek, but his eyes were even more fervent. He crouched down again.

In an instant, he pushed off from the ground, causing the floor to tremble slightly, and shot towards Whitley like an arrow from a bow, with an even more ferocious momentum!

"Ha! Atatatata!!!"

An even denser and more powerful combination of punches and kicks once again enveloped Whitley!

"Oh? Is this all you've got, Goku?"

Whitley's voice was still flat.

This time, he didn't dodge. Just as Goku's fists were about to land, his hands shot out with the precision of a butterfly fluttering through flowers, firmly grabbing both of Goku's wrists!

At the same time, his right foot shot up like lightning, a powerful front kick viciously slamming into Goku's unguarded abdomen!

"Uwaa—!" Goku let out a painful cry. As if hit by a high-speed truck, he flew backward, bent in half, and crashed heavily to the ground.

He clutched his stomach, curled into a ball, and couldn't get up for a long time, only able to let out pained whimpers.

Seeing Goku struggling, Whitley didn't press his attack.

He knew that this stubborn kid was still far from his limit.

Sure enough, after catching his breath for a moment, Goku, fighting through the intense pain, slowly climbed up from the ground.

This time, he didn't rush in to attack recklessly.

He lowered his head and silently brought his hands together at his waist, palms facing each other. A powerful energy began to gather between his hands, emitting a dazzling blue light!

Ka~

me~

ha~!!!

Goku's voice was low and firm, filled with a do-or-die determination!

Seeing Goku assume a desperate stance, a hint of appreciation flashed in Whitley's eyes.

He didn't want to just casually wave his hand and dissipate the ultimate technique that his opponent had gathered all his strength for. That would be too demoralizing.

With a sigh, Whitley gave up the idea of easily deflecting the attack. He also slowly raised his hands, palms forward, in front of his chest.

"If you want an energy clash... fine."

Whitley's voice was filled with anticipation.

After all, an energy clash! That was the ultimate romance for a man!!!

His palms also began to gather a heart-pounding white light!

White~

Heat~!!!

The auras around the two of them flared wildly, and the powerful energy fluctuations distorted the very air in the gravity room! The light grew brighter and brighter, illuminating the entire space as if it were day!

"ME~HAAA!!!" Goku, with all his might, thrust out the Kamehameha wave that he had condensed to its limit!

"ME~TE~OR... HAAA!!!" Whitley also released his attack at the same time! He deliberately suppressed the vast majority of his power, releasing only an amount of ki comparable to Goku's.

BOOM—!!!!

The two massive energy beams, one blue and one white, like two roaring dragons, slammed into each other in the center of the gravity room!

A deafening roar erupted instantly! A violent shockwave of energy, like a tangible tsunami, spread out in all directions!

VMM! VMM! VMM!

The specially made alloy walls of the gravity room groaned under the strain, instantly covered in web-like cracks!

Sparks flew from the control panel! The gravity field, set at five times, was instantly thrown into chaos and collapsed under the violent energy impact! The entire gravity room was like a detonated bomb!

RUMBLE—!!!

A terrifying tremor, with the Briefs' estate at its center, instantly swept across several kilometers!

The earth trembled violently like a sieve! Houses shook, furniture toppled, and glass windows shattered!

People on the streets screamed in terror, running for cover!

"An earthquake! It's an earthquake!"

"Run!"

In the main house of the estate, Bulma, who had just woken up from a nap and was still in her pajamas, was jolted awake by the violent shaking and the terrifying roar!

She looked at the dust and decorations falling from the ceiling, and the cracks spreading across the walls, and was instantly terrified!

"What's going on!"

Bulma screamed and scrambled out of bed. Forgetting her appearance, she instinctively dived under the sturdy wooden table.

"I thought the house was supposed to withstand a magnitude 10 earthquake?! Help me, Whitley!!!"

In the garden of the estate, Dr. and Mrs. Brief, along with a group of their pet animals, were lying on the ground in panic, their hands over their heads, enduring the tremors of the earthquake.

Inside the gravity room.

The moment their energy beams collided, Whitley knew something was wrong!

He had underestimated the destructive power of the overflowing energy from their clash on the real environment, even with his power suppressed!

The moment he saw the walls crack and felt the earth tremble, his expression changed dramatically!

"Not good!"

Without hesitation, he forcibly retracted his "White Heat Meteor"! At the same time, enduring Goku's still-firing Kamehameha, his figure became an afterimage and instantly rushed in front of Goku!

Thwack!

Whitley delivered a precise karate chop to the back of Goku's neck as fast as lightning!

Goku, who was concentrating on his energy output, didn't even make a sound. His eyes rolled back, and he collapsed to the ground. The energy wave he was firing also came to an abrupt halt.

Without even looking at the unconscious Goku, Whitley immediately smashed a large hole in the cracked alloy wall and rushed towards Bulma's bedroom, his heart racing!

He let out a long sigh of relief only after seeing that Bulma and the Briefs were all okay.

The violent tremors finally subsided. The still-shaken people around the Briefs' estate looked at each other with lingering fear.

The inside of the estate was a complete mess, as if a hurricane had swept through.

"So you're saying! This 'earthquake' was caused by you and Goku by accident during your match?!!"

In the living room, Bulma, who had changed her clothes but whose hair was still a bit messy, was furiously pulling on Whitley's ear, her beautiful blue eyes shooting flames of rage!

"Do you have any idea that I was almost crushed by the ceiling! You bastard, Whitley!!! Why did you have to fight so intensely at home?! Are you tired of the current house and want a new one, or are you tired of me and want a new wom— Mmph..."

Bulma's angry questioning was cut off by a sudden and fervent kiss from Whitley.

The kiss was filled with deep apology and lingering fear, and also Whitley's gentle comfort.

Bulma struggled for a moment, but ultimately softened in his embrace. After a long while, the two slowly separated.

Seeing the "I've learned my lesson, please forgive me" expression on Whitley's face, Bulma also realized that she had almost said something she shouldn't have in her anger. She let out a heavy "Hmph!", pulled her hand away, and couldn't be bothered to waste any more words on him.

She immediately took out her phone and called the construction company under Capsule Corporation, ordering them in an unquestionable tone to immediately send their best engineering team over to clean up the mess and repair the estate!

After a series of swift arrangements and scoldings, Whitley cautiously pointed in the direction of the gravity room. "Uh... I think Goku is still in there... lying on the floor?"

Bulma gave him an exasperated look and followed him to the side of the now-ruined gravity room.

Amidst the wreckage, after searching for a while, they found Goku curled up in a corner, still unconscious and even letting out soft snores.

"Sigh, you two..."

Bulma looked at the "peacefully" sleeping Goku, then at Whitley, who had an "I have deeply reflected on my actions" look on his face, and felt a wave of helplessness wash over her.

She took a deep breath and silently comforted herself, "Forget it, don't be angry, don't be angry... This is the man I chose. What can I do? I can only spoil him..."

She put her hands on her hips and gave Whitley her final ultimatum: "From now on! Absolutely! You are absolutely not allowed to fight at home! And you are definitely not allowed to cause this kind of house-demolishing commotion! Do you hear me?!"

"Yes! I swear my loyalty!!! I guarantee it won't happen again!!!" Whitley immediately stood up straight and answered firmly, his attitude extremely proper.

Seeing him like this, the anger in Bulma's heart was finally, barely, suppressed.

She rubbed her brow and looked at the wrecked estate helplessly.

"Honestly, I had already arranged for several top chefs. They were supposed to come over at noon to prepare a sumptuous lunch. Now the house is such a mess, we can't possibly host anyone."

She thought for a moment and quickly made a decision:

"Forget it. We'll go and stay at the lakeside villa in the suburbs for a while. The environment there is nice, and it's big enough. As for the chefs... I'll have them go directly to the suburbs with the ingredients and equipment this afternoon."

As she spoke, she was already rapidly sending commands on her phone, arranging for the entire family's relocation.

Whitley watched as Bulma methodically handled the mess and finally let out a huge sigh of relief.

He couldn't help but feel secretly grateful. "Thank goodness, thank goodness I found a little rich girl like Bulma! The young lady of Capsule Corporation is the best!"

His gaze then fell on the soundly sleeping Goku. Thinking of the Son Goku from the original story who was completely henpecked by Chi-Chi, a mischievous smile appeared on his lips.

The trajectory of fate seemed to have already deviated quite a bit under the influence of this "butterfly."

Carrying the unconscious Goku like a sack of potatoes, Whitley followed Bulma and began to instruct the robots and servants to pack the necessary luggage.

The whole family boarded the spacious and luxurious aircraft. The engine let out a low hum, preparing to fly to the scenic suburban villa.

As for Goku? Of course, they had to take him. They couldn't just leave him in the ruins.

The aircraft slowly lifted off. Whitley looked down through the viewport at the Briefs' estate, which looked like a post-war scene, and rubbed his temples in resignation.

"And I was planning to use the food to try and summon Whis..."

He muttered to himself, his gaze turning to the distance. "I'll have to wait until we're settled this afternoon, or maybe later."

He hoped that the legendary angel was really the foodie who couldn't resist the temptation of delicious food, just as he imagined.
