A small, quiet room, Morning sunlight slipped through the wooden window, falling across the face of a young boy lying in bed, his head wrapped in fresh bandages.
His eyelids stirred, then slowly opened.
"…Huh?"
He blinked at the wooden ceiling above him. This wasn't his room. This wasn't even a place he recognized. He pushed himself up, but a dull sting pulsed in his head. When his hand moved to touch it, he paused—his fingers had brushed against a bandage.
"What… happened?"
But what really stunned him—wasn't the bandage.
It was his hand.
The palm was small. The fingers were thin and youthful. Not his hand.
His heart skipped. He threw off the blanket and hurried to the mirror standing at the side of the room. And what he saw in the reflection—
—wasn't him.
A young boy stared back. Around ten years old. Black hair, Deep blue eyes. A face he had never seen in his life.
"What the—who is that?!"
A violent pain suddenly tore through his skull. As if someone had stabbed his brain and was twisting the blade. He dropped to his knees, clutching his head in agony.
"Ghhh—!!"
Memories. Images. Voices. Emotions. They crashed into him like a tidal wave—endless and suffocating. His own life—his past life—was forcing itself back into him.
Then, as suddenly as it hit—it stopped.
"…Haa… haa…"
Panting, he lifted his head.
"I… I remember."
His name was Lance now—but once, he had gone by another name, in another world.
He hadn't transmigrated into someone else's body—he had reincarnated. This was his own body, born naturally in this world. His past life memories had just awakened after he hit his head.
He stood up, steady now, expression calm.
"This world… it's Black Clover."
Magic, Grimoires, Kingdoms, Devils, Mana, Magic Knights. And— wizard king
"Huh… Conrad Leto?"
His eyes narrowed. Something didn't add up. Conrad Leto—mentioned only in the movie he had seen. That meant —this was many years before canon started.
Julius Novachrono became Wizard King 10 years before Asta and Yuno got their grimoire.
The door suddenly burst open.
"Lance!! You're awake!!"
A beautiful woman rushed inside. Long silky black hair, gentle green eyes, and a face that still carried youthful grace. She ran straight to him and pulled him into a tight embrace.
"Mom…" The word slipped from his mouth naturally—instinctively.
Right. This was his real mother. His biological mother. Unlike most transmigrators or protagonists of this world—he wasn't an orphan. He had a family. A real one.
He hesitated a moment—then hugged her back.
"…I'm fine, Mom."
She pulled away and cupped his face, relieved.
"You fell from a tree and hit your head while trying to train magic again! I keep telling you not to do dangerous things!"
He scratched his cheek awkwardly. "...Sorry."
She sighed but gave a warm smile. "Come downstairs. Your father is waiting at the table. I made healing soup You need to eat and rest."
She left the room, closing the door softly behind her.
Lance moved to the window and looked outside. A peaceful village stretched beyond—stone paths, wooden carts, people tending crops a simple life.
On the surface—normal.
But beneath that—magic, kingdoms, ancient threats, devils, forbidden spells. This world may look peaceful, but it was dangerous—deadly even and the final boss Lucius.
He lifted his hand, gathering mana to his palm. A faint pure white glow shimmered to life.
"So this is my magic…"
From his memories, no one—not even his parents—knew what kind of magic he had. His father traveled a lot and bragged often about strange and rare magics he'd seen. Elemental magic was common and easy to identify —but unique magic existed too. Rare, specific types like Key Magic—the one used by the current Wizard King. Or Scale Magic—like Damnatio Kira's how do you know what their magic will be before they get a grimoire.
Which category did his magic fall into? And most of all it seems I am not destined to be super strong in this world because Lucius can peek into many possibilities of future like Dr strange so if I pose him any threat I should have been eliminated already but I am still alive???
His stomach growled loudly.
" Questions can wait. Soup first" As he went out of thr room.
