Luca read the letter twice. Three times. Letting the words sink in.
No pregnancy. No child. No repeat of the nightmare that haunted him.
Just a mark. A symbol. A reminder.
Relief flooded through him so powerfully that his knees nearly buckled.
For one horrible moment, he had been ready to do something drastic—teleport to wherever the goddess resided, consequences be damned, and make her undo whatever she had done.
But it wasn't that. It wasn't that at all.
He folded the letter carefully, his hands steady now, and looked at Luna.
She had been watching him with concern, her earlier bliss replaced by worry. When she saw his expression soften, she slowly sat up and leaned into him.
"What's wrong, Luca?" Her voice was gentle, caring. "You had this really scared look on your face a moment ago. Did you think of something bad? Was it a nightmare?"
Luca chuckled softly, pulling her closer and letting her lie on his chest.
