Chapter 187 - Chapter 187: You’d Better Watch Yourselves

The assembled angels all understood who the Grand Priest was referring to.

He meant the Gods of Destruction.

These ten Gods of Destruction were, in their respective universes, existences that stood almost at the very peak. And yet today, they had been defeated at the hands of the two brothers—Beerus and Champa.

It was truly a sobering sight.

The angels swiftly flew toward the locations of their respective Gods of Destruction.

Among the ten, the one in the most dire condition was Quitela.

He had already been punished by Lord Zeno, losing nearly half his life in the process. Now, after being ruthlessly tormented by Beerus once again, his state was utterly miserable.

There was not a single uninjured spot on Quitela's body. He was quite literally hanging on by his last breath.

Next came the robot God of Destruction, Mosco.

Originally, Beerus had only crippled two of his mechanical arms. However, when Mosco attempted to seize Beerus, he ended up taking direct attacks from the remaining six Gods of Destruction.

Now, his injuries were scarcely any lighter than Quitela's.

As for Liquiir and the others, their situation was comparatively better.

They had been beaten into critical condition by Beerus's fists, then subjected to the torment of Ninth-Tier Destruction Rules. Still, in relative terms, their wounds were not considered fatal.

Meanwhile, Iwan, the fuzzy God of Destruction who had fought Champa, along with the other two in his group, were among the weakest of the twelve.

Fortunately, their situation was not too severe—they had merely been knocked unconscious by Champa.

Before losing consciousness, they had even managed to leave Champa badly bruised, so it was hardly a humiliating defeat.

After all, on Beerus's battlefield, seven Gods of Destruction had surrounded him together—yet Beerus had emerged completely unscathed.

Buzz!

Buzz!

...

Within the World of Void, the angels hovered beside their respective Gods of Destruction, casting healing magic.

After streaks of silver light flashed through the pitch-black nothingness, all the Gods of Destruction—except Beerus—recovered, Champa included.

Of course, the wounds Quitela had suffered from Lord Zeno's punishment were beyond Cognac's ability to heal.

Once their injuries had stabilized, Belmod and the others flew toward the Grand Priest.

The World of Void fell deathly silent, as though the earth-shattering battle from moments ago had never occurred.

Seeing Quitela and the others restored, Beerus curled his lip slightly. He knew the fight was truly over.

He hadn't even had enough fun yet.

The scene within the World of Void now looked rather strange.

Beerus and Champa stood proudly, chins raised like victorious roosters.

Meanwhile

The mouse Quitela, the elephant Rumsshi, the clown Belmod, the sea-monster Giin, the malfunctioning robot Mosco, the sorceress Helles, the mummy Arak, the fox Liquiir, the furball Iwan, and the dwarf Sidra—

All ten Gods of Destruction hung their heads, not daring to look at Beerus and Champa… let alone the Grand Priest.

After all, they had already been defeated by Beerus once tens of millions of years ago.

And today, they still could not defeat him.

They truly had no face left to show.

"Lift your heads."

The Grand Priest spoke calmly.

The Gods of Destruction trembled. Could it be that losing to Beerus again meant punishment?

They cautiously raised their heads.

"I recall that I merely instructed you to test my arena, didn't I?"

The Grand Priest narrowed his eyes.

Test the arena?

So… this wasn't about punishing them?

The Gods of Destruction suddenly remembered.

The Grand Priest had summoned them here for two reasons:

First, to warn them about the rules.

Second, to test the arena's durability.

"Wait… where's the arena?"

Rumsshi and the others scanned their surroundings, only then realizing that the arena constructed by the Grand Priest was gone.

Unlike the others, Beerus had already noticed this the moment the Grand Priest mentioned it.

And he had also realized—

The disappearance of the arena had a great deal to do with his Ninth-Tier Destruction Rule.

In other words, the true culprit was Beerus himself.

Beerus felt guilty. His eyes darted about, not daring to meet the Grand Priest's gaze.

Whis naturally knew who was responsible. Seeing Beerus's guilty expression, he was barely holding back laughter.

The other angels were also suppressing their smiles.

So this cat really was this entertaining.

No wonder Whis was so enviable.

"You truly did a fine job."

The Grand Priest narrowed his eyes.

"I merely asked you to test the arena, yet you managed to completely destroy the one I built."

His voice was flat, devoid of emotion.

And precisely because of that, it was terrifying.

The Gods of Destruction lowered their heads once more.

Beerus, already feeling guilty, instinctively followed suit.

Suddenly—

"Beerus."

The Grand Priest called out to him.

Beerus's heart sank. I'm finished.

He didn't dare lift his head.

"Y-Yes? Is there something, Grand Priest?"

"Something?"

The Grand Priest's lips curved slightly.

"Do you truly not know what you've done?"

At those words—

The Gods of Destruction snapped their heads up.

Right. It was this guy!

"The disappearance of my arena is entirely thanks to you."

"I…"

Beerus was left speechless.

"You are the one responsible for destroying it."

The Grand Priest smiled faintly.

"Therefore, you will be the one to rebuild it."

Beerus felt bitterness clog his throat.

Wasn't this arena destroyed because you told us to test it?

And now I'm the one who has to rebuild it?

Yet he couldn't say a word.

"What is it?"

"Are you unwilling?"

The Grand Priest suppressed the smile at the corner of his lips.

"I'm willing! I'm willing!"

Beerus nodded frantically, his face full of misery.

Seeing this, Rumsshi and the others couldn't help grinning wildly. The frustration of their defeat vanished completely.

So what if Beerus was strong?

Could he possibly be stronger than the Grand Priest?

"You lot."

The Grand Priest suddenly shifted his gaze, looking at the defeated Gods of Destruction who were secretly celebrating.

It's over…

Liquiir and the others felt their hearts tighten. The focus had finally returned to them.

"Tens of millions of years have passed, and this is all the progress you've made."

"To be honest, I'm very disappointed in you."

The Grand Priest said no more. His objectives in summoning the Gods of Destruction had already been fulfilled.

"The time for the Candidate God of Destruction Grand Melee draws near."

"You'd best conduct yourselves properly."

With that, the Grand Priest vanished without a trace.
