"Okay, Uchiha Madara, I agree to spy on the Leaf Village for you," Kaoru nodded. "I hope we have a good partnership."

An Anbu ninja with a fox mask landed in front of Kaoru and the others. It was Kakashi Hatake.
"Lord Hokage has ordered the second Chunin Exam to be stopped. Come with me. I'll take you out of the Forest of Death," Kakashi said.

The Third Hokage wore a hat with the kanji for "fire." He was old, but his eyes were sharp, and his face showed authority and worry.
Danzo looked at the rescued Genin, looking for the Root ninjas he sent. When he saw Kaoru, he was surprised and confused.
"Kaoru, Shin, I'm glad you're okay," Mirai was already outside the Forest of Death. She ran to them, happy to see them safe.
Uchiha Obito and Hozuki Mangetsu went to see their Hidden Mist Village Jōnin.
Kurenai Yuhi, standing among the Jōnin, was relieved to see that Team 8 was safe.
More and more Genin came out of the Forest of Death, some dead. The scene was tragic.
After twenty more minutes, the rescue was ending.
"Lord Hokage, the rescue is over. We've searched every place in the Forest of Death," Kakashi said, kneeling in front of the Third Hokage.
"What's the result?" the Third Hokage asked.
"There were 75 Genin in the Forest of Death. 35 are dead, and 8 are missing!" Kakashi replied.
"Was it caused by the giant sword from the sky?" the Third Hokage asked.

"The Leaf Village will investigate this. The Cloud Village ninja should be patient," Danzō interrupted.
"This was unexpected. No one thought this would happen. Besides, the Genin signed consent forms when they joined the second Chunin Exam. Even if your Cloud Village Genin died in the Forest of Death, you can't blame the Leaf Village!"
