Chapter 6 - The empty

He had a calm face. It was invisible, shrouded in shadow. Yet, for some reason. . . it made me smile. Not a happy smile. Not a relieved one. But an understanding one. It was as if he revealed to me an uncomfortable truth, and I could do nothing but acknowledge it. Even if it was for the best.

The waters were really like a sky blue. The undulating waves calmed down, making the horizon indistiguishable from the sky above. The sand was wet and thick, so I grabbed some.

*Plop*

Heheh, It's kinda funny.

". . . Are you enjoying yourself?"

"Yes actually"

Both knew it was a lie. But both pretended as if it wasn't. Resting his scythe in the still and shallow waters, the man sat still.

. . .

. . .

. . .

The veiled man sat still. The silence wasn't heavy. There was no issue in waiting, at least that's how it felt.

A feeling of protest, passion, rage, then hope rose within, but it never manifested. It never has.

"Are you ready?"

Grabbing the sand, a ploptuous plop echoed in the grand abyss.

'The sand here doesn't work,' the hollowed boy thought.

"Yes. Yes I am."
