Chapter 25 Glyn Guesses the Original Reason
Chapter 25 Glyn Guesses the Original Reason
From the Free City of Pentos, the Magister's Manse.
The scorching sunlight flowed like water, with a few thin white clouds drifting leisurely with the wind.
Daenerys Targaryen, the future Mother of Dragons, sat slumped in a corner of her chamber, weakly hugging her body with her delicate arms.
Since arriving in Pentos, Magister Illyrio Mopatis had sent her a gown of deep blue gauze. The finely crafted gauze dress was both beautiful and cool to wear. Daenerys loved Illyrio Mopatis's gift very much.
However, her favorite dress was at this moment being torn into a few pieces by her only relative, her brother Viserys Targaryen, and scattered around her.
Daenerys's thick silver hair was coiled, bringing a messy beauty.
A pair of purple eyes looked at the crystal tears, filled with sorrow and grief due to the current injury.
Her skin was as white as milk, and the delicate, unparalleled beautiful Daenerys was like an elf.
The maidservant rubbed her still very painful stomach, and painfully got up, then with a compassionate expression, picked up a blanket and wrapped Daenerys in it.
Daenerys, with eyes full of grief, looked up at the maidservant. "You shouldn't have to suffer like this. I'm sorry, I'm scared... I couldn't protect you, yet you got hurt protecting me."
The maidservant shook her head and comforted her, "Your Grace, I'm fine, let me help you up."
Daenerys's own brother, Viserys Targaryen, was the son of the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen and Queen Rhaella Targaryen, calling himself Viserys III Targaryen.
After the Usurper's War, the survivor Viserys, with his sister Daenerys, fled to the continent of Westeros, calling himself the King of Westeros. He visited various Free Cities, seeking allies and aid while fleeing pursuit, enduring cold shoulders and disdain. He even sold his mother's crown, and thus earned the insulting title "The Beggar King."
After selling his mother's crown, Viserys's temper became increasingly violent and uncontrollable.
Daenerys deeply missed the boy who told her stories of the Seven Kingdoms in their childhood, the Viserys who painted a beautiful life for her after ascending the throne.
Daenerys deeply yearned for the brother deeply hidden in her memories to return to her side.
...
...
The second day after receiving the Queen's appointment letter, Glyn, for the first time, put on shining silver plate armor and a blue cloak embroidered with his house sigil.
Wearing chainmail and a breastplate, with a large round shield on his back, and a warhammer tucked at his side, Monton Waters was a guard.
The Gold Cloaks guards at the gate of the Red Keep, seeing Glyn's appointment letter, simply asked a few questions before letting him pass. Glyn and Monton Waters entered the Red Keep smoothly.
Without being searched, and even less so having to hand over their weapons to the Goldcloaks guards.
Baron Glyn mentally assessed the Red Keep under Robert's reign as a place without a sense of crisis.
Monton Waters's less intelligent eyes were now full of curiosity, constantly observing everything around him.
Glyn was not in a hurry, and slowly moved forward in the direction previously pointed by the Goldcloaks.
...
...
After walking for not long, a man with golden hair, wearing silver armor and a white cloak, suddenly appeared in Glyn's sight.
The man with golden hair was tall and imposing, with a pair of piercing blue eyes.
Glyn guessed it was Jaime Lannister. He initially felt a murderous intent upon his appearance, but it quickly vanished.
Having grown up in an environment of lurking dangers since childhood, coupled with the improved physical qualities after transmigration, Glyn keenly sensed a fleeting murderous intent from Jaime.
Glyn guessed the original reason, and pondered with a puzzled expression.
Glyn could only think of one answer.
"Is he jealous? He wouldn't mistake me for a pretty boy, would he? The Queen's male favorite, who has come all this way?"
"Is this what they call a love-struck brain? I rely on my own strength to make a living; there's absolutely no need for this!"
Glyn pondered, but his expression remained unchanged. He walked over naturally and made a chest-bowing salute, "Good day, Ser White Knight?"
Jaime, holding a longsword, looked Glyn, whose face was clear and composed, up and down, and said with arrogance in his voice, "I am Ser Jaime of the Kingsguard. Little wildling, are you Baron Glynn Clegane?"
Glyn's expression remained calm, "It is I, Ser Jaime."
Jaime's eyebrows twitched. Tyrion's assessment was indeed not wrong; his temperament was very mature.
If it were someone else who had already inherited a noble house at such a young age, they would at least show some unhappiness at this time.
Although Jaime did not like Glyn, he did not intend to make things difficult for him. He said in a low voice, "Follow me, little lord."
Glyn thanked him and gave Monton Waters a glance, then began to walk.
The dull-witted Monton Waters did not understand what instructions Glyn's glance had just given him, and it was not suitable to ask aloud at this moment.
Monton Waters scratched his head and touched the warhammer at his waist.
"Did you tell me to smash off the head of that arrogant man in front of us?"
Glyn noticed Monton Waters's small movements and tilted his head, saying in a low voice, "Follow me."
"Oh, I thought too much."
Monton Waters responded dully and followed Glyn, continuing to curiously observe his surroundings.
Glyn naturally sped up a few steps, walking shoulder-to-shoulder with Jaime, "Ser Jaime, may I presumptuously ask, what does the Queen's official do specifically?"
"Are we very familiar?"
Jaime squinted, "Didn't you inquire with Tyrion first?"
"Could it be that Jaime is jealous of Tyrion? What terrifying brotherly affection!"
Glyn once again guessed another reason why Jaime had previously revealed murderous intent towards him.
Glyn sighed, "I thought I was avoiding Lord Tyrion, and only yesterday did I realize that he was also avoiding me. We both suffered mutually, and now we mutually fear each other."
Jaime recalled Tyrion's annoyed expression and couldn't help but chuckle, "Tyrion told me yesterday that he would never touch wine again in this life."
Glyn also smiled and said, "On the third day I knew Lord Tyrion, I also heard similar words from his mouth. As a result, they were only effective for half a day."
"With Lord Tyrion's intelligence and eloquence, he can always find even better reasons to make you unable to refuse."
Glyn's words were all praise for Tyrion, which made Jaime's mood much better.
In Jaime's line of sight, Glyn's face was delicate and gentle, making it hard not to develop a good impression.
Jaime, who had initially begun a pleasant exchange with Glyn, suddenly recalled something for an unknown reason, and immediately resumed his icy demeanor.
"Hmph, arrogant man,"
Glyn, with his 'big picture' perspective, did not quibble with Jaime's arrogance.
"We'll talk about it later."
