Yuu just decided to stroll to the Bg pixie bar that was down the hill. He wasn't going to waste much time. He just missed his highschool days. The days when Ren was still with him. The time when their feelings were not complicated.
When he entered the bar, he didn't care to look around. He didn't want to look at anyone. This was his first time here in about seven years or so.
He wondered if it would be the same bartender that would be working there. He somehow hoped that he would see Ren.
That would be a herculean task, he thought. Ren driving all the way here?
Yuu didn't need to remind the bartender, he had recognized him. His face had not changed. He had the warmth that anyone would remember. Just as he was handed his drink, the bartender stopped him.
" Your friend is sitting in that corner." He said pointing towards a dimly lit table.
" The one I always thought was your boyfriend." He teased Yuu.
Yuu only gave a smile and muttered a thank you.
Yuu turned around and met someone's gaze.
Ren.
For the first five seconds, everything disappeared. The noise, the music, the people, the clinking of glasses and the tired conversations around them.
Yuu blinked.
He moved his throat as though he was swallowing something.
He walked towards the table, not fast, not slow , just inevitable.
He didn't take permission, he just sat next to Ren in the same chair.
" I didn't expect you'd be here," Yuu said.
" Same."
A short silence followed, a familiar one, a dangerous one.
Yuu sipped his drink slowly.
" I am sorry about yesterday..." Yuu started.
" Don't," Ren replied.
Yuu stiffened, " why not?"
" Because if you start, I don't know how to finish"
Yuu just looked at him as though he was expecting another answer from his face.
" You didn't have to walk out," Yuu murmured.
" I didn't want to," Ren replied as he looked away.
For a few seconds, neither of them moved.
Then Ren made the mistake of looking at Yuu again.
"Ren….," Yuu whispered.
" Don't say my name like that" Ren said as he leaned closer.
" Why?" Yuu asked in a calm tone.
" Because I won't be able to stop."
The space between their lips felt electric.
Yuu closed his eyes, just for a second.
That was enough to break Ren.
He kissed Yuu.
Soft at first like he was testing reality, like he couldn't believe that he was allowed to touch him after everything that happened.
Yuu froze. He gripped the edge of the table as if the whole world tilted.
But just then, Ren pulled back.
" I am sorry," he apologized.
Yuu just nodded as a sign that he wasn't offended.
Outside the bar, the city lights were glowing. The streets were quiet . Yuu shivered and wrapped his arms around himself.
" Can you give me a ride? I left my car at home" Yuu said. The truth was he wanted to spend just a few more minutes with Ren. The family driver could come in a few minutes if he wanted it.
Yuu hesitated. For a moment, the distance between them felt unbearable. But he nodded. "Okay."
The car was mostly silent. The low hum of the engine filled the space, but every glance between them felt loud. Yuu's hand brushed against Ren's on the gearshift. Neither pulled away.
"You don't have to talk," Yuu murmured. "Not if you don't want to."
Ren's jaw tightened, eyes forward, but the tension in his shoulders eased slightly. "I'm not used to this," he admitted, voice almost a whisper. "Being… close."
Yuu leaned slightly toward him. "I know. That's okay.
Halfway through the drive, Ren glanced at Yuu and noticed the way his eyes darted to the window, anxious, hesitant, yet calm when they met him. Something in him shifted.
"Stop at my place for a second?" Ren asked abruptly. " You can warm up for a bit. It's cold out there."
Yuu raised an eyebrow but didn't argue. He trusted Ren instinctively. He always does.
His house was just a thirty minute drive and the cold would do nothing to him. Ren's apartment was situated in an entirely different part of the city.
It didn't make sense that he was going far away just to feel warm but he didn't complain.
The apartment was quiet, dim, shadows stretching across the walls. Yuu shivered slightly, brushing cold fingers along his arms, and Ren stepped closer instinctively, letting his hand rest lightly against Yuu's side.
"I… I can't define us," Ren murmured suddenly, voice tight, trembling. "I… I can't… promise anything. I—"
Yuu didn't answer. He didn't argue. He just leaned into Ren's touch, letting him feel what he couldn't yet say. He trusted him. Always.
Ren's eyes flicked to his, searching, raw, unsure. Yuu smiled softly, brushing his hand against Ren's chest, steadying him. "You don't have to," he whispered. "Not now. Not ever. Just… be here."
That was enough.
Ren's restraint broke. His lips found Yuu's in a desperate, trembling kiss. Yuu met him without hesitation, pressing closer, hands tracing the lines of his shoulders and back, letting him take the lead completely.
Every motion, every sigh, every whispered word was a conversation without words. Yuu let Ren guide them both, not out of submission, but out of trust, patience, and a desire to be close. He gave himself freely, body and heart, because he knew Ren needed it, because he wanted to be the one who could hold him when the walls came down.
Ren's lips left Yuu's briefly, forehead resting against his. "I… I've never felt like this," he murmured, voice rough with emotion. "I can't… I can't control it."
Yuu simply smiled against his shoulder, brushing hair from his face. "Then don't."
Hours passed in silence, in warmth, in the kind of closeness neither had allowed themselves before. They moved together, tangled in limbs and breath, discovering each other in a way words could never capture.
And when they finally collapsed, bodies still entwined, hearts racing, the air between them thick and intimate, it was clear: they had crossed a line. One that could never be uncrossed.
No one needed to name it. No one needed to define it. Yuu let him lead. Ren let himself feel.
And that was enough.
